Chris meets up with the rest of the Israel Premier Tech squad in Girona, Spain for the team's annual winter training camp. Daryl Impey's TH-cam Channel: / @darylimpey7792
I saw you in Utrecht, in The Netherlands, Chris. Before the finish of the Vuelta stage in the Utrecht Science Park I went to the Israel bus. You were the first to arrive, it was dead quiet, nobody around. I wanted to talk to you, but out of respect I didn't bother you. Maybe you thought I was a freak (in case you noticed), or creepy, or something, because the only thing I did was taking photographs. I took a video of elderly people who took a selfie with you as well. What I wanted to say was: "Chris, your grand escape in the Italian mountains a few years ago was one of the Great Moments in cycling history. It's an honour to talk with you now." But I didn't. Enough people bother you, I didn't want to be part of that. Godspeed, Chris.
It doesn't matter if you win a 5th tour or not. It would be amazing to see you up there in the mountains and the TT's. Just be motivated to give the young stars a run for the money. Than you can see or test if you can hang on. when there put hammer down! But above all of that. just enjoy riding, don't stress so much on wining. Remeber you love for cykling and come back with a burning fire in your heart. 🔥
Just joining the channel, KES old boy here, I won’t hold your attendance at St.John’s College against you though, just kidding, great school and great rivalry with KES. Wishing you the best for the 2023 season Boet.
Chris thank you so much for bringing us along to camp. It’s really nice to see the behind the scenes look into the life of a tour rider. Watching your videos s over the last year has made me a fan for sure, can’t wait to see you ride next year. Wishing you all the best and prayers for safety and good health.
Wishing you all the best for 2023 Chris, I hope you are able to achieve those things that are important to you. Good news that you will be here for the Tour Down Under. Cheers from Australia
That was very interesting to see the technology that goes into setting up your TT bike. I enjoyed the collaboration with Impey, the two of you are a great pair.
Chris thank you for sharing your momentum as a cyclist professional. I am following you from Switzerland and enjoy watching you spinning on the road. I which you all the best for coming’s season.
Great update, thanks Chris. Merry Christmas to you and your awesome family. Good luck in Australia the weather is all over the place here, heat and floods.
Great news at 9:00 minute in. Wonderful to hear your cardiac health is improving. A man with such passion needs a heart to match. Good news for you, your wife and your little ones. (Most important.)
Hola chris.. Exelente video..te deseo un feliz año... Y espero verte este próximo año ya sabes que siempre he seguido tu magnífica carrera.. Un habrazo desde Colombia
amazing insight to all the tools and equipment the pro teams use - but one question @4:22 - wouldn't a TT helmet fill the void behind the head and flatten the airflow across the back?
No Osymetrics on the TT bike? I would love to see a video of you talking about and revewing the TT bike and the road bike you have been riding for a time now and hear how you like them! :) Thank you for giving us a nice look in to the life you have as a professional cycelist, love watch the jurney, keep up the great work and the great content! :D Marry christmas to you and you'r family!
Thanks for that video! On your TT fit when dropping saddle & raising bar as you said also your hip opened & I wondered do they change crank length at all? New kit looks great! Happy Holidays & good luck next season!! 🍀🍀🍀
Thanks for showing pro-cyclists' life, you have some unique advantages other cycling TH-camrs do not have: 1. You know those guys. 2. More important, they know you, respect you, and would like to talk to you. 3. You can catch up with them on the road. I hope you show us more about the world of pro-cyclists from inside. It may be helpful for young people, even kids, who want to become pro.
Curious how much you moved the bars up and saddle down? Also if you took the extra length out front with the new uci rules being relaxed. Best of luck training, you're definitely the most polite TH-cam cyclist out there!
Cool video. In the tt fit, how do you and the staff adjust for the fact that you weren’t testing with your tt helmet on? I’d imagine that would actually have a huge impact on that perceived “exposed portion” of your back with your head dropped low. It would raise the effective height of your head relative tonthe handlebars and smooth out much of that curvature no? Could be completely off here, just curious why the analysis was done without something that has a huge impact on your overall position. Cheers and thanks for sharing this content as always!
Hi there Chris, quick question. Do you actually see a need for dedicated time trial bikes in this modern age of cycling? Wouldn't it be more accessible to use a regular aero road frame but with a specialised handlebar and disc wheelset?
Will you shorten your crank length to drop the seat position 175mm - 170mm or 165mm? Hope the new position gets you back up to your former top tt 2017 🔥🔥🔥one of the best in the world 💪💪💪💪👊
How much does frame size factor into bike fit with the new size regs for TTs? It looked like you could benefit from a larger frame to raise the tri bars up. Edit. First time I've ever seen a YT video above 1080p, so not just the quality of the presentation has gone up, but the technical quality of the videos too. Perhaps it was a new Christmas camera? 🎁
@@MrVizzle The limitation isn't Froome and his fitness/ ability. It's about the team around him. Take peak Froome and put him in this team, and he'd really struggle to win a grand tour. Clearly, he's past his peak, so that doesn't help either.
@@MikeAG333 after having a serious crash putting Froomey out for many months, at a level where you can't even eat a mince pie never mind miss even a day of training, and competing against arguably the fittest athletes in the world who are in their mid 20s, while Froomey is in his mid 30s....to win a grand tour why that would be the greatest achievement in a long long while.
@@isaacbarber_02 I agree with every word. I would be the first to hope that he gets back to winning ways this year, and that he gets to choose when to retire without his form or fitness being a factor in that decision. My comment was because I have adjusted my hopes and expectations based on the reality of the team around him, and the inevitable decline from his peak cause by both age and the injury lay-off.
If the aim is to make the effort harder, I think he just changes gear or spins faster. Adding 5w of resistance in weight and going slower is not meaningfully different to pushing 5w more and going a bit faster unless maybe you are climbing out of the saddle which will feel different to the upper body.
That blue egg-shaped trace at 5:52 - I can't quite make out what marker is being recorded there. Is it your ankle? That's WAY more out of round than I would expect. Is this typical? Best of luck in 2023!
