Very interesting. One of my black headed caiques could put a jet engine to shame. She also gets the others going. Neither my husband nor I are bothered.🥰

Oh?!! Have you had a Major Mitchell before? I expected her to be loud- being in the Cockatoo family - but yes, I’m always weary when I’m falling for the “I’m quiet” show…

@@ParrotBliss I have a Major Mitchell called Misty and she has quite a loud voice. Mainly in the morning and late afternoon. But she also has a wide range of soft little sounds that are very sweet.

my female blue headed pionus is super chill. I wouldn't think twice about keeping her in an apartment. Most of her noises are soft chips and cute noises that are pleasant to the ears, and she'll give off a few moderately loud cheeps a few times a day. It's rare enough that it always catches me off guard when she does it.
Once in a blue moon she will get a little squawky, and she can be pretty noisy when that happens; but I don't think it's ever lasted for more than a minute. Usually that gets kicked off because my dogs get her worked up when someone knocks on the door; or sometimes when she is showering and gets super excited.

This is what I’ve heard about Pionus parrots. Congratulations, yours sounds fantastic - mine squawks loudly and more often than I’d prefer. I think he’s adjusting still.

If I could get a yellow quiet cuddley sweet parrot it would be heaven 😍😅 so beautiful! Those green calm ones are also amazing 😍 I didt know greys where quiet. Love this video. Ive been looking for bourkes, Parottlets and Linnies as soon as I learned about them due to noise level, but coud not find any in Norway. Had no idé there was even 3 this quiet. Thanks!

I’m always interested to learn what parrots are available where, since some places have more of one species than another. If you are interested in a larger one, LMK what you are thinking of getting. Yes, African Greys are quiet - for a parrot- but they aren’t affectionate. Make sure you know them better before you get one. I’m currently writing an eBooklet, a short book, on African Greys because they are often at rescues here in the US. I want people to understand what they are really like before getting one so that they get the right bird :) for themselves and the parrot too.

Bourke parakeets are awesome mine is a little chatter box but I think that may be because she was raised to be an aviary bird and Petrie (my cockatiel, and only other bird) hates everything that moves. She mimicks him screaching then hops to another perch and makes her own sounds its actually kind of cute. Sad but cute, im hoping to get her a friend this October

I think there are more quite species in the Poicephalus familie (=relatives of the 'capes`). For example a Meyer`s parrot won`t be loud, even if it tries to. He simply hasn't the power :-)
My Jardin's parrots are not loud, either (unless I leave the room and they call me or they have an argument with each other, then they can be loud for a short time). Usually they get really quite after 2 minutes. Not as mellow as your 'capes', but still on the quite side.
(Yes, I will make a video of them and post it here on YT. I already collected some footage, but I have to learn editing, yet)
Most likely the other Poicephalus species are quite as well, but I never had the chance to check them out.

    • @ParrotBliss

You are right, Dirk, the Poicephalus parrots are quiet. I can’t think of a parrot from the African continent that is very loud. They all seem to have great personalities too. Looking forward to your Jardin videos!

Great information and I totally agree with the AGP and mine does talk a lot and entertain us when he starts with a conversation. He tells our Pomeranian to be quiet or go inside, etc. Love him to death but I think your new adopted hawk is amazing. Thanks for sharing and wish you all the best.

Hi Alex, how are the Parrotlets/breeding going? I can’t remember if yours are old enough to breed. Yes, the Hawk-head is gorgeous! I’ve found a new love! But, I adore them all- also love my AGs. Is yours male? Our male is far more vocal…

@@ParrotBliss My parrotlets are also a year old and I can see that one of the pairs is starting to show signs of courting and I have placed a nesting box with wood shavings inside their cage just in case and also for them to use to sleep at night if it gets cold in our enclosed patio. The other pair seemed to be not as old as the first pair I got. I will keep you informed.

What do your neighbors have to say about your parrots? I knew growing up there was a house maybe 8 houses over I knew had a bird and it was loud but my parents and I never made much of a stink about it. I’m sure their neighbors did however because they only lived at this house for 5 or so years. I have no idea what kind of parrots they kept, but looking back I suspect it was a macaw. To this day I wish I went over there to ask. You could hear this bird for a good half mile every evening because it was outside. In the spring/summer.

      @ParrotBliss  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

My neighbors have said they like the birds. However, we are as considerate as possible and don’t let them stay out if they are screaming. So, we get compliments!

@@ParrotBliss thank you so much! Thankfully where I’m at I don’t really have neighbors but with a 70+ year commitment you never know, so I wanted to be mature enough yo look past my desires so I have the best interest for the birds in mind. You’re really helped me feel secure in getting a parrot, both with knowledge, and wisdom. Thank you so much!!!
