  • BOEING 747-8 EDUCATIONAL VIDEO / HOW TO REACH CRUISING ALTITUDE AND SPEED
    Disclaimer:
-Vertical speed of climb: depends on overall weight of the plane, so keep that in mind also
-Transition altitude: In the United States and Canada, the transition altitude is 18,000 ft (5,500 m). In Europe, the transition altitude varies and can be as low as 3,000 ft (900 m).
-When I said I usually fly 0.89 Mach I meant with Boeing 747-8. Cruising speeds and altitudes varies with different planes
-Speeds:Airspeed is what your airspeed indicator says. True Airspeed is how fast you are actually going relative to the air around you. Mach number is how fast you are going relative to the local speed of sound, which is a variable.
According to FAR 91.117(a), "unless otherwise authorized by the Administrator, no person may operate an aircraft below 10,000 feet MSL at an indicated airspeed of more than 250 knots
-I made a mistake saying feet per second which is wrong, it's feet per minute
