I am planning an escape from Thailand. I may be leaving sooner than later. In this video I will revial the one major issue in Thailand I have a problem with. Its a big enough reason to make me reconsider living here at least year round.

My name is Brian but everyone calls me Greeny. I retired in January of 2020 after working 30 years in Law Enforcement. I wanted to retire young enough to be able to do some of the things I always dreamed about! I knew I wanted to travel extensively and retire somewhere warm and exotic I sampled a ton of places in the Caribbean, Panama, Colombia, Turkey but set my sights on Thailand.

A lot of Americans go back and forth from Albania and Thailand. Americans get a one year free visa in Albania and it’s a 30 minute ferry ride to Greece and a short ride to Italy. Prices in Albania are comparable to Thailand.
I definitely want to check it out this summer.
@ Albanian’s are very friendly to American’s. Albania is not part of the Schengen countries so you get the free One year visa which is nice.
That part of the world is what’s called “Where Mediterranean Meets Slavic”. Goods food and Beautiful Women. 👍
I think you nailed it. Very good possibility
@ There’s a couple TH-cam videos on “Albania vs Thailand” that you should watch.
@ Brian you should base yourself out of “Saranda Albania” and travel that part of the world. You can see Greece from Saranda. A very beautiful place. ✌️
I 1000% agree with you about how important Air Quality is to find a place to live. Few months ago, you mentioned about how bad the air quality was in Bangkok because the burning, I canceled my trip to Thailand. Breathing is my number one priority! as long as I am alive.
Yea. That was a bad time of year for me to try out Bangkok. Definitely come here though and do Samui and the other island. Also Khao Sok is close by.
You don't need to leave Thailand. If you want to escape the burning season there just go down south to the islands for a few months.
yea, I’m im the Philippines and the air quality is horrible there too. when I came back this year and went for my physical, first thing doctor asked was if I smoked, asked me again, I think breathing that bad air is harming my lungs 🫁.. I don’t think I could hang in Thailand during the burning season either unless I stayed indoors the whole time
Whatever you plan in the middle of your time away, go home to Michigan. Though the air may be colder, it is fresh and pretty clean. I think it will help you to get grounded again and gain perspective. Also you get to see your family and I am sure they want to see you. Maybe even go home first and it just might become clear where you want to go to. Happy travels, whatever you decide! Peace out!
If I get close may go. Not sure I will get there though
I am thai. I also ran away from Thailand because of the pollution. Really wonder why many foreigners want to move there.
Because pollution isn’t their biggest issue? Some can deal with it but some don’t. The same reason people escape from cold and come to Thailand for the warmth.
It bothers me more that I thought it would. Seems to be getting worse
I am Thai , but i love Thailand , i think one best place in the world.
It's cheap and have very beautiful woman
Because they don't have a clue about it. They think everything is better than their life back in their country.
And to be frank, for a westerner, the cultural differences and differences in manners and etiquette can't be farther apart. That's actually a bigger issue for most.
I am done with the BS in the Philippines. noise, the garbage, the smoke, disrespectful neighbors, reckless drivers. You should check out Kuching, Sarawak Malaysia on Borneo or KK or Labuan. nice and cheap
Will look into those. I’m making screen shots of all the suggestions
Cameroon Highland and Ipoh city in Malaysia can be an alternative to avoid smokey season. Its a nice summer retreat.
I agree 100% with you about the burning season in Thailand it’s annoying and wreaks havoc on your respiratory system and makes your allergies much worse. We were in Hong Kong and had zero allergies no stuffy noses and as soon as we got back to Thailand stuffy nose is back and dripping.
My buddy there now. He comes to Thailand tomorrow
We left Thailand and came back to Canada - 90 days early. Our air is crisp and clean. It is perfectly quiet.
Thailand is getting too expensive for all the "This Is Thailand" stuff that you have to put up with. Starting to raise prices to Western prices but their standards in Thailand aren't getting better.
Your air is also STOLEN FROM NATIVE PEOPLE! GIVE IT BACK!
Not that cheap anymore. That’s for sure
100% agree, Im in Jomtien also. Australia is beautiful, clean air, great beaches, great food but comes at a cost of course.
I've never been , but everyone says Prague is very nice and inexpensive.. I hear good beer, beautiful women, and good food.
Yea. Was a great place. I highly recommend it. Been there though and maybe a bit chilly in the spring.
Prague is expensive.
Prague living like a local maybe inexpensive but expats lifestyle probably not so cheap. Dinner with a glass of wine could be USD 30
@@jfk5402 You can get that in the West.
At min 7, that was dope haaaa.. the music and the shots that's nice 👊🏼 how about Cambodia has an island I heard it's up and comming and I heard Vietnam has a nice island too. enjoy your journeys I watch from time to time.nice yo
Thank you. 🙏
@@GreenyTravels Cambodia is cheap. The locals have an average 8th grade education and mentality to match. Sorry it is true.
Hey Greeny. I lived in Aruba for 1 year about 25 years ago. Loved it. Only one thing that bothered me was it is always windy. The wind never stops. Its a small island. Great beaches.
Maybe better for a short trip
I agree with the people that said Krabi. We live in Sukhothai and leave every year Feb -May during the burn season. One city that I like and think is underrated is Hat Yai. I'm thinking of going to that area next year.
I’m planning to visit that area too
Songkhla City is a better choice. Right on the coast, in close proximity to some great beaches. Hat Yai is just a busy city. More like the Bangkok of the south.
If you decide to go to Crete I would recommend Chania. Not a ton of American's go there. I spent 9 years on and off there while in the military and have gone back multiple times since then. We love it there. It is beautiful and laid back. If you go check out the Samaria Gorge. It is a great hike.
Greece is cheap delish food and near all rhe good things in the world. Many islands and easy visa for Americans
English is widely spoken and locals are welcoming. Check it out bro.
Moved here and can't be happier.
Weather ✔️
Food ✔️
Safety ✔️
English ✔️
Cheap flights to many part of the world ✔️
Clean air quality ✔️
And much more
Oh. Definitely gonna check it out
Generally speaking Greece is about %60 cheaper than USA
Caveduddddde (sp?) is correct I Loved it too BUT there's a significant, growing tourist-go-home vibe in Athens. I'd research a lot about where...that is.
@@GreenyTravels I'm a Greek american and it's cold during the time you want to go. The ferries will not be going to many of the islands till May. Athens will be cold and always busy and expensive for hotels. Crete is your best option during your time frame. Turkey is okay and many people from Scandinavia will be there in the south near the sea. I'm only a European and Caribbean expert as I live in Miami. I would try to stay local and check out Malaysia and the Philippines. Only go to Greece or Turkey that time of the year if you want to check out old Scandinavians, Germans who will mostly be ugly nude on the beach, YUK!
@@0Thecaveman0 Yup and the food is 100% better!
One of my main concerns when moving to Thailand for retirement is the burning season (BS), due to my allergies and upper respiratory issues. If you're looking to escape the BS but don't want to leave Thailand, there are a few things you can do to circumvent or remedy the bad quality air. One of the things you must do is get yourself a good value air purifier (I use the "Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4") and keep your windows closed. The other option is to escape the regions affected by the BS, by living or traveling to provinces in southern Thailand. The coastal provinces that have pretty good air quality year round are Surat Thani, Phang Nga, Krabi, Phuket, and Trang.
I have 2 good air filters. The problem is who wants to be here if you can’t go out. I’m heading south
The beauty of traveling is it’s up to you! If you like, you stay if you don’t you keep moving. Enjoy the journey and remember sometimes life’s greatest memories are by accident.
This is true. Great comment
I'm a slow traveler. Was just in Thailand and absolutely loved it, but knew to get out before the burning season. I'm heading to Albania in March for 3 months. The rents are super cheap, and I rent higher end places because of my job. However, they quadruple in June with the high season. That might be a good place to head over to until the end of the burning season.
Gonna reasearch this
Greenie, I hear that The Bronx is a wonderful, up and coming destination to get away from this PM 2.5 crap. Actually it has been getting worse in the 17+ years that I’ve been over here. The beaches down south was a good respite, but finding a great deal is difficult as everyone else wants to get out. Good luck.
Yea definitely getting worse
Mytilini , Lesvos , Greece is near Turkey, great island, lower prices than well known Greek islands because it has lower rate of VAT because its considered lower income part of Greece, I think Chios and Samos maybe same. Lesvos is third largest island of Greece, plenty to see and great locally produced food.
The southwest USA is very dry and they say if you don’t have allergies when you move here you definitely will before long. It’s dry and all the pollen gets blown around without rain it doesn’t wash away.
I won’t be going there
Hi Brian, I was recently in Sousse, Tunisia. The hotels are very affordable, great beaches, liberal culture. From January to May the weather is perfect without it being too hot.
Oh. Good to know. Thank you
Funny, you must’ve been reading my mind. Eight years in Bangkok and I’m done with the smoke season. I’m also trying to decide where to go. I need to go back to the US for some business so that will kill sometime but after that, I need to find another place to spend several months the smoke season is brutal.
What time of year is the smoke season in Bangkok? Which month? Can you tell please?
2 years ago between returning from the U.S. I went to 15 different countries in Europe. 6 weeks was awesome
@@Andrew-hm5ydmost of this last year at times has been bad. Even last month ! 🥺
March,April, May,June are probably the worst.
@ yes 👍 this year rumbled on
Hi Greeny I would definitely check out Koh Samui, it has lots of fantastic restaurants and an excellent Hospital. Rawai has lots of great restaurants and craft beer bars but the beach is where all the tourist boats anchor day and night, so is not recommended for swimming. Best beach in Rawai is Nai Harn but is a short drive away. I would also check out Ao Nang has great infrastructure with all that you would need, i can recommend the Golden Beach Resort if your looking for a place to stay in Ao Nang while your looking around. Cheers mate. 👌☀😎
Thanks Paul. I do like Samui a lot.
@@GreenyTravels Me too 😀
With you Greeny, i coughed so hard last year in Korat last year it gave me a hernia, had to have surgery to fix it. I can deal with everything else but burning season is unbearable
Omg. That’s terrible. Yep was bad
Have you moved?
@@pvarawat I will go back to the USA during burning season, there are no places in Thailand to hide during burning season
That smoke is all over including Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the rest.
One of the cheapest places near Thailand is Sri Lanka check it out.
The government controls all prices and everything is really cheap. There are some TH-cam videos on retiring there. Visas are easy to get and extend.
Australia,Murray River. Great wineries, fishing, peaceful, clean air lots of stars,it’s a place to put on your list. Love to see your videos there. 😊
Sounds great 👍
I enjoyed your video, and I'm feeling the same way. I've been here for about 5 years and I feel it is time to find somewhere else. I've done Europe, but now not an option with the political situation there. I've done quite a bit research on Da Nang, and I think that is where I will be going. I find it is getting expensive here, and the people don't seem to be the same. JMHO
Da Nang moms definitely an option
Lots of options. Thanks Greeny 👍
Definitely
What about Phuket or Samui?
I’m going to scope out Rawai beach next week. Samui may be my future too though
Both OVERPRICED TOILETS
I'm told by a native I trust that the area near Khao Yai is nice all year. I'm taking a shot at retiring there starting next month.
They get hit by air pollution also unfortunately
Oh. Damn
Happy New Year Greeny. Have you been to Japan? On my bucket list. I enjoyed Prague. Morroco was interesting and fairly reasonable. What's your budget and what is your coldness tolerance?
Been to Japan a few times and Prague. Just checked out Malaysia. This week heading to the Philippines
Borneo Malaysia...one of my favorite places was Kota Kinabalu. You can mountain climb, white water rafting, watersports, etc. Some cool national parks as well. If you really want clean air....New Zealand! May be a little more expensive but the US dollar goes a bit further.
Sounds awesome
Thanks For Addressing This Important Issue, Greeny!👍 Unfortunately, It Seems Many TH-camrs Ignore Or Shy Away From The Topic. When Does The Burning Season Start & End, (Particularly When Can You Feel Its Affects In The Pattaya & Jomtien Areas?) I Know It's Worse In The Northern Part Of The Country, But Eventually The Smoke Reaches The Southern Areas, And Now, You're Saying Vietnam, Geesh, smh! I'll Adjust My Travel Plans, Accordingly.😷 Thank You!
Run away from Thailand.
I’m gonna lay it all out there. People wanna here Greeny rants so I’m definitely gonna point out the negatives
Try Slovenia, you wont be disappointed, although it depends on your preferences, of course.
I like the region.
HCMC & Hanoi are worse that Bangkok. Da Nang is on the water so it's a little better. But it gets smokey in Da Nang too. Last year I spent 6 weeks in BGC Philippines, Bonafacio Global City. The air was good. BGC is like a mini Singapore. Food is good. It's safe and clean. It's a little expensive but not crazy. Long term Airbnbs were reasonable. I'll probably go back in March to get out of the smoke in Thailand.
Good advice Charlie. I was wondering about Danang.
Hi Greeny, remember to do what ever you can to improve the performance of your immune system. The is the core system we all have to make are life as healthy as possible. Having gone through support during my medical bumps the number one thing is to reduce/remove as much stress in your life as you can.
Food and drink items that have the highest nutritional value. Find vitamin supplements of high quality since food you eat does not provide all the nutrition to achieve a fully nurtured body.
Hope you find your path to a tranquil life.
you should look into rayong, thailand (mae ramphueng beach and much arround) kinda healty if you wanna stay in thailand.
I’ve looked a little. We will see
Sapparo, Japan. Affordable if u stay at a guesthouse. Air is so clean.
I think you are talking about Ubud in Bali. I stayed there many years ago, and it was okay. It must be more developed now. It had clean air, friendly people, good food, and was not expensive. The good thing about Bali is it is easy to take a side trip to New Zealand or, better yet, Australia. Airfares should not be so bad at that time of the year, and accommodation should be reasonable. We currently live in Finland and would not recommend coming this way in winter, not to mention the cost of living, "Euro shock". I have never been, but many Finns go to Malaysia; KL probably does not have the best air, but lots of other places to see. They have very good English, good infrastructure, great food and low cost of living. Good luck.
Yes. You are correct. Ubud looks very affordable
A few years ago I stepped off a bus in Angeles City, PI, when doing a VISA run, and immediately noticed the deep blue color of the sky. It really brought home how the sky in Pattaya/Bangkok on a clear day is a greyish blue, never a deep blue as it should be. And no one can call the Philippines a good ecological model.
After a few weeks in Thailand I get a bit of phlegm at the back of my throat that can't be coughed out. Not a good sign.
Any island in the open seas should have decent air.
I hear ya. We had a stretch this week 3 days with terrible air quality. Not even close to burning season
I love Thailand 🇹🇭 but want to move now from Bangkok. It’s quieter and a bit cooler in say , Ubon R & K Kaen .. cheaper too ..
Khon Kaen is ok. Have you been to Udon? I liked that a bit more.
@ not been Udon T yet no. But shall try .. going Ubon R again in January. As I say I love bkk , I live in northern suburbs and even here it’s just too noisy now for me. It was obviously good at the time as my now ex gf worked and lived nearby .. but now I have no ties .. can rent a nice house & get a car too .. Good luck with your decision ..
I was there a year ago and the smoke was on the islands too. The Thai Government needs to set in and stop that burning. It is the cheapest and easiest way to clear the land but the pollution is crazy.
It’s ridiculous
Perfect Climate you can find on the Canaries, fresh air nice beaches. I love Fuerteventura Gran Canaria and remote Island is La Gomera with amazing rain forest /more a foggy forest.
Wow. Sounds amazing
Japan would be awesome in March/April, when the cherry trees blossom! Dollar/Yen ratio is good now I've heard...
Taiwan is fab and great places to explore - cities, sea, mountains, great people.
Greeny I thought the burning season does not effect Pattaya. I am surprised with this video.
It does big time. Last year was terrible
Try Cape Town
You talked about visiting other countries, that is the time go visit them. Spend a few weeks to a month in each. After you get that out of your system, go South. Hua Hin or further. Once you get that far South, you have the Indian Ocean to the West. No burning (or minimal if any) so air pollution should be a lot less. Anywhere north and you have land mass to the West with burning going on which naturally flows East.
Yep. Just got back from Malaysia. Now off to the Philippines Wednesday
Well - I have been travelling on and off for 40 years or so and my advice is to go to Bali for a month then Lombok and the Gili Islands off Lombok for another month. Then check the smoke reports online and if things are still bad try Cebu Philippines and/or the other popular islands there. By that time, things should be back to normal in the land of smiles 😀
I think that’s a good plan
You should try Cape Town SA, once a year I leave Hua Hin two months for Cape Town. The high season is over and the weather is still fantastic. Before moving to Thailand I was in Cape Town about 10 years and I had the best time of my life. Rent an Airbnb close to the sea and enjoy your life for a few months. Do not listen the stories about security in SA, with a minimum of common sense it is safe.
I'm moving to Hua Hin from Chon Buri next week
Interesting. Never considered that
@@GreenyTravels No smoke in Hua Hin. No traffic either. Isn't nightlife centric. Quiet beach
Cape Town is best city on the world...by far...
Agreed I was there for 2 months and didn't want to leave. Choose Camps Bay or Clifton
If you looking for colder climate, try Kota Malang, Kota Batu (East Java), Kota Banjarnegara (Central Java), Karanganyar (Central Java) or Bogor (West Java). All of them is in Indonesia.
Thank you. Will look into those
Go to Japan Greeny. The plane tickets are cheap, the hotels are cheap, and the air is cool and clean.
USD buys a lot of Yen these days.
@@mindcache5650 Oh Yeah, I forgot the historic exchange rate in favor of the $ and American Tourists In Japan nowadays.
If you wanna stay in SE Asia, I recommend Bali... they have great weather most of the year. Check out Sanur on the eastern side. Not expensive, quiet, peaceful, beautiful.
Thank you
Go to Bali, Indonesia. You can choose from Amed, Sideman, Uluwatu, Ubud or to Bali’s neighboring islands: Lombok or Sumbawa.
Top choice, Bali is so good!
@@thomasr53 Not true! Bali is getting very congested and the air quality is suffering from all of the car and scooter/motorcycle traffic
@@bobbyjett7047 Thats your opinion and you are entitled to it, the same as me and everyone else but don't come back at me with Not True! I go there every year, sometimes twice, nothing wrong with Bali, it is an amazing destination

@@GreenyTravels we are here to help. 😃
I agree with you about the air quality. I’m looking at the Philippines we’re air quality away from the cities. is quite good.
I hear that
Just typhoons
Great video Greeny. My idea would be to go for a spell in Penang. It’s magnificent there. But tbh the smoke ain’t too bad down the far south in Koh Lanta, Krabi, etc. Most of the burning is in the north, plus lots of the smoke comes from Laos too. It’s a real shit show of pollution in Chang Mai and Chang Rai for that reason.
I’m going to Penang in about a week
Have you ever been to Spain Greeny ? It`s an amazing Country. Lovely Weather , amazing Beaches. Some of the most amazing cities i have ever visited and the food is great too. Not crazy expensive as well. Barcelona is one of my favourite cities in the World. Malaga is amazing too. So many amazing places to visit along the Southern Coast of Spain. The Rail network is really good and affordable too. By the way , you won`t remember me , but i bumped into you last year in Koh Samet and said hello. I was sat in a restaurant near Sai Kiaw beach with my Thai Wife.
Yes. Been there a few times. Very nice. I remember lol. Not many people recognize me
Europe is a bit cold and dark this time of year and into February/March.
I would definitely take a look at Bali and Vietnam and split your temporary exile between these 2 places.
Portugal has been very nice.
Vietnam very polluted.
I Thailand during burning season everywhere south of lets say Hua Hin should be fine. Been on the islands Koh Phanghan and Koh Tao during burning season and there was nothing. Cheers from Cologne, Andy
That may be the move for at least part of the time
Good reminder, I should head south by March.
Yes
Hua Hin is generally considered safe from the "burning season" and its safe from natural disasters for the most part. Hua Hin's coastal position can help disperse smoke and pollutants, leading to cleaner air compared to inland regions.
I like it there too
False! Very bad air in Huahin now.
@@josupi6454 Better air than Pattaya and Bangkok
New Zealand has excellent air quality. A nice change of scenery for 3 months, perhaps.
This is a possibility
Yeah that is a tough question Greeny! Reason being SEA in general is crap during smoke season everywhere. So the SEA islands are all crowded with everyone doing the same as you & as you see prices go up seasonally. Probably your home in Detroit is best choice at least you can catch up with things & people but yes I hate the long travel too. Older I get the less I like it. But your predicament is the main reason we still live in Hawaii. We use to live in Thailand & still have our home there & spend 3+ months a year there but that bad air is just not worth the squeeze is it? Good Luck to you & your choice. I hear Bali is nice too
Probably not going to Detroit. I forgot about Hawaii. Maybe I’ll check that
@@GreenyTravels Hawaii if great if you like super slow life on the outer islands. But Honolulu or even Maui can be like a little Hong Kong's crowded & exensive
I agree its awful, why not go to Istanbul for a while nice direct flight's no messing around. Ot go down south to Hat Yai and a side trip to Penang.
lol. You musta read my mind. Did go to Gat Yai and Penang
Not that much burning by the coast of Cambodia, i´ll suggest Kampot or Kep in Cambodia, Greeny ! 👍 Phuket btw is probably one of the most expensive areas in Thailand to stay and live.
Yea. Pricey down there. I will look into that part of Cambodia. Thank you. Near Phu Quoc right?
@@GreenyTravels Yes, actually they just recently started a boat-ferry line so i think you can go from Kampot to Phu Quoc by boat now. Yes, check it out i have been in that area many times and like it.
Agreed, and maybe it's because i'm an old geezer, I just didn't like the vibe in Phuket. Don't ask me why I love the vibe in Bangkok, but I do.
@@metubenoggin07 The only language I heard in Phuket was Russian, other than Thai, no exaggeration.
Go Chill around Kuching Sarwarak 👍 - that other Malaysia , Air Quality is Great💖🙏

That dog, "He didn't smile" lol
lol. He was actually cool. Followed me for a mile
Is the BS also in Hua Hin? Probably Samui, ko-Chang or similar would be cheaper options within Thailand
I’m looking hard at Samui. I like it there
Easy Peasy...Galle Sri Lanka is beautiful, affordable, safe and has great weather March, April, May. Could take your honey too as Thais can get an Evisa. ✈️
Keep hearing this. May need to look into it
I would suggest Phuket or Koh Samui for the next 4 months, since it will be an annual pilgrimage thing..or Australia, but prepare for 3-4 times the usual Bangkok budget
That may be the move.
Try that Vietnamese island in the Gulf of Thailand off southern Cambodia, or Koh Samui. I don’t notice the smoke hardly at all just east of you in Rayong.
I did a week last year in Phu Quoc. Great air quality
I recommend three Balkan and Black sea countries that are Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Albania, these are worth a try.
Albania was boring and dangerous. Check out Albanian mafia for more infos. Bulgaria was ok cheaper and much things to do.
I hear this. What about Georgia? My that girl can visit me there visa free.
@GreenyTravels winter is brutal and nobody speak a word in English. Need to speak Georgian or Russian. Food is amazing but you have to deal with drunk Russians. You get 1 year visa on arrival but I couldn't handle winter so I left.
P.S they still use heating system from the Soviet era.
Albania has all of a sudden become a retirement hot spot, laregely because of the low cost and the incredibly favorable retriement visas.
@@GreenyTravels That is undoubtedly an ancient and beautiful country with a rich history. The only concern is its proximity to Russia and its current political instability.
Hi Greeny why not go to Malaysia Singapore and go back to Phu Quac Vietnam and see if people can stay longer there. That place from your previous video is Beautiful.
Australia on the Murray river,New South Wales,Victoria. The air Is clean and thousands of stars in the sky.
Maybe in the mix. I’m getting great advice here.
Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, Koh Lanta, Surat Thani (mainland), Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phang Nga, Satun, Songkhla
You might check Krabi it's on the main land across from Phuket, I lived near there for a year back when I was teaching, it's not a tourist / ex-pat area, when I was there prices were much lower than Phuket.
I also like Sofia Bulgaria for eastern Europe.
Krabi is now very much a tourist area.
Tangier Morocco is your answer. Only downside is lots of scooter noise. EXTREMELY inexpensive. You just need a u.s. passport, then do an every 3 month visa run to spain via 80 USD round trip ferry.
Morocco a place I will visit
I tend to head to Vietnam for the Thailand hot season. Last year a month in Nha Trang, which was nice although I think I prefer Da Nang. Weather perfect in Vietnam that time of the year. If you want to be much cooler then Da Lat?
Good advice.
Greece check out Thessaloniki beautiful city. Moldova worth a mention. So many places to choose from
Nice. Thanks.
>> I vote Croatia!! I'd like to get your point of view. I heard Croatia is very affordable.
I will get there at some point. If not spring then October is the World Wrestling Championships. I went last time in Serbia
Okinawa is in the "blue zone". Costs a little higher than Bangkok, but more affordable compared to other big Japanese cities, like Tokyo.
I’ve been looking to go there
@@GreenyTravels If you go to okinawa its best to get a place by the monorail because car rentals are expensive there. A good short/long term rental is Mr Kinjo hotels
They have direct flights to bkk with air asia too
I'm in Okinawa now. It's nice. I escaped Samui during the rain a few days ago. @@GreenyTravels
I agree. I'm there now.
We go to Thailand a lot
But when we come back to wa Australia the air is another level clear as
I may visit there
I have a couple more years on you and now pay careful attention to air quality. I get a yearly CT scan of my lungs, and I think you should do this at least once. Insurance usually covers this. the PM 2.5 particles often in smoke are the most damaging and can be permanently embedded in your lungs/blood/body. I have lived in Bali and know that the pollution and traffic can be very bad. You could live in the mountains or the north shore and it might be better, but the lifestyle and amenities would not be what you are used to. You could be staying in a nice rental and your neighbor could be burning his plastics and trash out in the open blowing into your home. See if the new locations you are scouting have AQI monitors (air quality index) that you can monitor. And yes, you should wear an N95 mask when you are outside and get a good air filter for your condo. Young people usually think that they will never be seriously sick/hurt/or die, so ignore most of their advice....👍👍
What's wrong with Michigan? The happiest expats I know are the ones that split their time between their home country and another country. Do what make you happy dude.
My kid took over my house there. Too cold that time of year anyway. Michigan June to Sept good
I recommend italy; prices are reasonable I like a smallish beach community in Calabria called Scalea. I work in Italy quite a bit
Been there before, definitely interested in going back
I bought a decent air purifier, but last year I though was unusual it went on for a long time here in Pattaya the previous 2 seasons discomfort every few days over 3 or 4 weeks tops when I was in BKK 2 weeks tops.
Yep. Was bad last year.
Hey Greeny, hope all is well. I was just curious how far south in Thailand does that smoke go? I’m surprised it affects pattaya. Seems like an issue over there
I think south better and islands. My friend in Hat Yai says it’s good down there
Try Nha Trang, Vietnam. You may like the weather there. 😇
I’m planning on going there eventually
Strange, i live in. Jomtien, never smelt anything last year, where were you in burning season i wonder ? I also have light asthma yet never need my puffer here either
Croatia would be awesome....I think. I saw some vids on YT that make it compelling - but it is close to the war which is something to consider.
I’m going there in September
Old time asthma medicine Theophylline time release OTC in Thailand will help with the breathing. I had a pharmacist in Bangkok suggest it many years ago. Some of us are hypersensitive to poor air quality. I about to relocate to Cambodia and realize I will need to travel to better air during burning season for a few months a year.
May need to check into this. Thank you
oh man, i clicked fast! whats going on? ill check out the video. new evisa mess?
lol. You have to watch. No spoilers
@@GreenyTravelsthank you for this video! I agree !
Samui dont have any pollution and its the best time of the year as well.
Yea. One of my favorite places too
Samui would be my vote.
Love the video
I appreciate it. Just being honest. Not everything perfect here
Palawan, Philippines. I've been to Vietnam, which has some of the worst air pollution in any of it's cities. Palawan's capital; San Vicente is far from perfect, but is relatively clean compared to other asian cities. My wife is in Palawan. You love beaches and clean air? It's worth a visit.
Nice. I was in Coron and El Nido in rainy season. That was crazy. I bet it’s great in March tough
@@GreenyTravels Rainy season overall in the Philippines can get a little nasty. but, Palawan avoids much of the nastiness because of it's location. Summer weather is a little hotter and the water and beaches are ideal. What i especially love is; tourists haven't overrun the island yet. Yet again, because of location.
Lombok, Indonesia if you like a quiet vibe, great beaches, scenery. Europe is way overpriced and cold/rain in March.
Agree. Will probably wait till May first Europe
