thank you for showing the inside of a Real Ruby and giving definitions for some. I'm just starting to learn about gems (on my own) and was getting overwhelmed. This helped alot!

    Hello!
Could you please tell me what kind of microscope you use to see these inclusions?

A good advertisement for having each gem isolated from touching another hard surface.

Thank you for the info. I am thinking of buying a ring online but I’m skeptical so that’s why I was looking for real vs fake info.

There are a lot of inclusions. 🤔
Why are the cuts not that sharp, was this stone took out of old jewellery?

I have large ruby probably 16-20 caratsoval shape. The ruby is purple red with lots inclusions. It was faced by someone who has some skill but not a professional jeweller probably in Afghanistan.. so not a perfect gemstone but I love it. I asked local jeweller to turn it into heavy silver ring and he did the best working around gem imperfections. He even asked me where did you get that large stone? I guess it has some value. I checked it under powerful torch it looks similar to your video but has more silk. Thank you so much for magnifying and explaining the nature of inclusions

Does the appearance of silk lower the quality of the ruby? I've seen some expensive deep red opaque rubies.

Jeez, it looks so dirty, but maybe it looks fine in real life and the magnification & lighting exaggerate the imperfections more than I think. Is this one very expensive? I'm starting to think that maybe I'm in the. 001% of people who considers a pristine lab grown flux ruby superior and doesn't place value on whether or not someone dug it out of a mine.
