I love this song. Thanks for taking the time to explain things and not just playing the song. It was cool to see you play it fast and slow. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and for sharing it with us.
Thanks so much Aubrey. J.D. Wilkes instructed me to do a few standards to work on both hand speeds. Really appreciate being able to see how it's played on many of these standards, both half-speed, and balls to the walls. Keep er comin!
I love you Aubrey! This video helped me a lot! Thank you for making playing beautiful old tunes like this so accessible and simplifying it. There is no joy like finally understanding how to play a song after struggling! Thank you again :)
I love how you play Aubrey! You are my inspiration when it comes to playing clawhammer banjo. Am wondering if you have any tabs for these songs that you have produced videos for? Thanks so much for the way that you play.
Awesome! My only complaint about all of the "instructional" videos I can find is that everyone focuses on the left-hand. I want to see this same video done with a close-up/sideways slo-mo view of what the RIGHT hand is doing. Is she pulling up or strumming down on those notes? And which notes?
+Romeyn Prescott - These videos of the old time tunes are really for those who have already learned the basic strum proficiently. This takes a little time and daily practise. Stick with that until you can play it with utter ease. I'm sure elsewhere Aubrey teaches this strum and she does mention her book which will definitely have the basic strum in it. I learned the strum from another TH-camr Patrick Costello who does 'The Daily Frail'. Like Aubrey, he has a great style and teaching method.
+acousticengineer Hi! I've come a long, LONG way in the last 8 months. :-) I understand much better now. The likes of Patrick Costello and Cathy Fink have been great inspirations!
My only advice to anyone watching this is to avoid using as much right-hand movement as she does in this. There isn't really any need to have so much movement in the right hand as this. Nice playing though :)
I’m in love with this lady & her banjo!
I love listening to your videos and you r explanations
I love it !! Your playing sounds so great 👌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🔥🔥🔥🙂
Love all your work. Banjos are fantastic! Many thanks...

Giving it a go after seeing this, thanks.
Great job!!! Love the way you play.
Beautifully played!!... I can't believe you had no comments for this one, I'll have to learn the tune properly now ....
Yes there is. It is built in to the banjo as little hooks for which you hook the string under. Very handy.
Awesome rock on forever
My advice to anyone listening to this is to hope for all you're worth that you are ever able to play as well as Aubrey.
Awesome Thanks 👍👏🤠🎃

I am New to Banjo....want t learn this tune......but are you using G tuning with a Capo on 2nd fret? I cant git my banjr to sound like yers !!!
what make of banjo is that? It looks very similar to one I had made by Mark Hickler in Arizona.
is there a capo on the 5th string ?
That’s was a good lesson. Do you know where cripple creek is . Or why it was called c.c? Lovely tune

Hello Mr. Prescott, Clawhammer is strictly comprised of downstrokes.

I want to learn clawhammer so badly
You are beautiful & talented!
"well that was pretty self explanatory" Just do what I did. What are you waiting for!!!
I love the clawhammer of this tune a lot better, but then again i just like clawhammer better anyway :P
Yes, fingering does have everything to do with what came after. 😳
When I go fast, I make sure my fingering is perfect too.
😂
I wish my thumb was as dainty and bendy and what not.

Nice playing though :)
It's fun though. I play with a lot of right in mando. It helps me keep rhythm.
Clawhammer version
Fingering has everything to do with what came before and what came after.
Be my teacher
