Is there any update on the children who were detained on Nauru?

      The ones released in 2019?
It would be very cool to know how they are doing

My heart breaks for these people. But Australia has taken in 100s of thousands of refugees/asylum seekers over the years. Plus we have given billions of dollars in aid to many countries all over the world. And as a result we have our own homeless and healthcare crisis here with our own Australian born people! Our people are living in tents and motel rooms waiting years to be housed by the government! Don’t try to force your way in here by coming here illegally and then accusing Australia as heartless when we can only do so much!

You have a valid point but the fundamental issue is the length of time being held in limbo without a decision being made. They need to be processed much quicker

If they've been here that long they would have been assessed multiple times and found not to be genuine refugees.

yeah like the guy who claims he's gay and all he has to do is file the "necessary" paperwork with the Iranian government who kills gay people but he just won't seem to do it.... 🤔

If they are safe, let them in but they must work and find Thier own housing. They will be grateful compared to where they came from

      oh really?
      On a dark desert highway
      Cool wind in my hair
      Warm smell of colitas
      Rising up through the air
      Up ahead in the distance
      I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
      I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be heaven or this could be hell
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say
      Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
      Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (any time of year)
      You can find it here
      Her mind is Tiffany-twisted
      She got the Mercedes-Benz, uh
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
      That she calls friends
How they danced in the courtyard
      Sweet summer sweat
      Some dance to remember
      Some dance to forget
So I called up the captain
      "Please bring me my wine"
He said, "We haven't had that spirit here since 1969"
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
      Just to hear them say
      Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
      Such a lovely face
They're livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
      Bring your alibis
      Mirrors on the ceiling
      The pink champagne on ice
And she said, "We are all just prisoners here
      Of our own device"
      And in the master's chambers
      They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
      Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
      "Relax," said the night man
      "We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
      But you can never leave"

That's far too long to be in a hotel. Couldn't they have been deported promptly or put in tent cities to discourage immigrants?

Well one man claims he's homosexual and the Australia government claims he's not.
They say, all he has to do is sign the necessary paperwork for travel back to Iran but he won't do it.
Iran is the only country confirmed unalive homosexuals. (Though death penalty may be enacted in Afghanistan also)
So yeah not an easy equation at all
