Thanks Mabel, very helpful! I am already in Dubai but working a normal job and doing content on the side, *hopefully* this info will be useful for me one day if I ever make the transition to fulltime
Thanks so much for the cost saving advice, I was going to use an agent but now I’ll do it for myself. I have 3 questions Is a freelancer permit and business license the same thing? A significant part of my business is doing online consultations. Can I do an online consultation with say someone in the US via zoom from my rental apartment in Dubai or do I have to “meet” the client in the free zone office? i.e do the zoom call in the free zone. 2 No one seems to be able to answer this one. A small number of my clients are actually from Dubai (I currently see them via zoom here in the UK) As I understand it with a free zone you cannot do any business within the UAE so dose that mean I cannot do anymore consultations or sell any digital products to anyone living in Dubai ? It’s only a few clients so setting up a mainland license would cost more than it would make. Hope to move there summer 25. I may be looking for social marketing for my digital products.
Hey!’ Thanks for watching! Yes essentially the same thing; they just call it freelancer because it’s 1-man package type thing! But legally it’s same in this case. Yep same as me I do everything online! I work at home from my apt in Dubai Hmm I believe it’s fine but I think you’ll need to ask the freezone itself as it depends per industry but for me I’m in marketing and I work with Dubai mainland clients Hope this helps! Please use the links in my description for more help 🩷
@ Thanks so much for getting back to me. Your videos have helped me to make up my mind I’m going to go for it and if my business grows sufficiently I’ll move to Dubai next summer. Don’t know if I’ll pull it off but it’s got me excited and motivated to grow my business so that a good thing. Gonna take your advice and setup directly with the free zone rather than using an agent. I did find out that a free zone company shouldn’t trade with the local Dubai market, this definitely applies to Dubai companies, I think, but not not 100% sure it even applies to individual UAE residents. Your video with Marie Engi was SO helpful, it introduced me to the Jumeirah area to rent a house in. From there I found Umm Suqeim next to it and I’m seeing perfect properties for me and my cat. There’s 7 organic food shops in the area and a night-time swimming/sports beach to avoid sunburn.
@ ahhh I’m so glad I could help!!! Sounds like you’ve done your research and wish you all the best!! 🙏 Please use the link in my description to be connected with my agent too!
Guess the first thing to check with any free zone is the 'liquidation charge' and how easy it is to make an exit !!! Most Business owners are clueless as to what they are getting into until they get into a hula-hoop. Speaking from experience from the same free zone which you didn't mention in the video :) :)
I thought you said before spc free zone was who you were with. Can you explain the difference between the two, as I really thought SPC looked great for a freelancer. Which have you had personal experience with?
Yeah I’m with SPC still! SPC great for solo and teams, I made this video for just freelancers solo entrepreneurs no team only. Similar pricing between them. Hope it helps!
Thanks for the informative video. My question is, if I use the Ajman free zone and get the freelance visa, will it help me to open a bank account? I'm a TH-cam as well so intend to be doing content creation full time.
Hey, I'm resident and I'm online consultant so where do I get a permit so I can use stripe (it's not allowed to use it unless I have a freelancer license or LLC)
hey! do you know if you can work as a freelancer if you’re sponsored by your partners work? looking to move over soon but not sure how that works if I wanted to be self employed🤣
Hey!! Yeah you can you just need the license without the residency visa! 🙏 (if you had a job you’d need a NOC from them but if you’re on a spouse visa I think no need)

Question. Is the resident visa just for the 1 year with the freelance package or is residence 2 but the license 1
Residence visa is 2 but license is annual!
If you go with this Ajman freezone can you do all the health checks etc in Dubai? Like do you ever have to go to Ajman?
I believe you can do in dubai yes

Would you say it's better to use them than SPC? or for different purposes?
I’d say different! This is great if you want for just yourself, I personally went with SPC because had employees 🙏 hope it helps!
