The reason for me doing POD is to learn about online business and marketing in a risk-free environment (Theoretically free).
However, I am looking to expand onto FBA and/or dropshipping later on as the potential for profit seems way bigger.

I'm a designer - but I have a lot of experience in marketing, about 8-ish years. I'm learning and getting into print on demand because I used to work in a design house that did a lot of print on demand, and I loved it! One of my favorite, low-stress positions I ever held. I'm wanting to recreate that and just get some additional pocket money, sharpen my skills, maybe get some freelance work out of it, and definitely attempt to break into my local merch scene to support my favorite local artists.

Another Bob here! I’m a designer at my 9-5 job and enjoy designing fun stuff after hours. My goal is to eventually have enough money coming in with the side hustles to be able to go down to part time corporate work. I also run a successful Etsy business and am thinking about what it would take to scale that up to a wholesale operation. I’d love to see some quality TH-cam content to help me think through that! Thanks for your awesome, brutally honest videos, Shimmy!

I appreciate you being real. I feel all businesses are hard - it may take 4 years before one reaches amazing money. I agree with you though because the best you can do is 100k a year right? with a t-shirt? but with the right products on Amazon you can be millionaires- I am in POD for creative purpose. I am the last guy - and I am good at marketing. My products were purchased the first time it was seen by someone. So I know I have to find ways to get them seen as my design is good enough.
Your Fb ad course was awesome. Still, I must watch it again :) as I was stumbling on creating ads. I am more into marketing with SEO and Etsy SEO is sucked big time. The only way to be on the first page is to pay someone inside the company and it's not even last for 3 days. Thank you for being very honest. Please don't change who you are- for fear of offending someone.

    Ur wrong on all that

Ur prety much saying POD is a waste
of time unless ur a designer or an advertiser or both..
    No true
    *ANYONE CAN MAKE MONEY*
    *FROM THIS*
    As u keep doing it
U keep getting better by default
    and thats how it works.
Ive seen terrible designs do well
    Not only great designs..
    The more u upload
The more ur designs get seen
and u will make sales guaranteed.
Dont get discouraged by this video.
You Only need to be consistant
    and keep uploading designs
    Eventually it will work 100%
Try uploading all ur images to different
POD sites too to increase ur chances

@shimmy tho as a business doesnt always take just one type of skillset it takes multiple to learn a business unless you ve got a partner but if you wish to go as a solo enterpreneur
that isnt starting a big company but doing small passive/semi passive-active/active businesses it takes multiple skills to run it so why not just keep updating our knoweledge and whether we apply it in print or demand or
not knoweledge has lot of ways of applying in different ways than just print on demand (like you suggested multiple ways bob and sam could use their skills so if they decide to create multiple incomes they could do two different sets of incomes at a time so even if print on demand takes time bob can sell art via other platforms and sam can market in other ways such as affiliate marketing while they both also do print on deman
as well and they could also keep learning skills they dont have bit by bit such as bob learning a bit of marketing, sam learning bit of designing and applying it.
Ofcourse not everyone will wish to make that effort so regular stick with what you can do is ok too but i just suggested this possibility that some may be willing to do..

channel grows at one point you wont be able to respond to our messages so is there any way to solve that so its easier on
you and everyone? (I am also asking this in general for my
own knoweledge so in case i start a youtube channel (since i am working with an organisation on theirs) or even
just another business social media account for social media marketing that idea would be helpful for keeping things
passive and focusing more on creation than just responding to tonnes of messages), a youtuber i watch has a discord group for his
audience engagement but again we cant be personally available when everything gets so big and we cant say what we want to each and every person.

      help pages/articles/videos (generic
questions can be solved with a video but what about very specific ones)
are some solutions though but just in case you ve got other ideas...or if you've got any video on it (tho i ll check your channel
later anyway) or if you could make a video on this (communicating with your audience thats specific)

I started with teespring in late April and I ordered the first t-shirt for myself on May 4. I just received the t-shirt in Los Angeles this week, 3 months later, and it was the wrong size. I ordered a medium. The label on the t-shirt says: Eu-M, US-S. The shirt was sent from the Netherlands. The t-shirt was very lightweight cotton, which is nice, but it still doesn't fit. I won't be selling from teespring again. Luckily, I'm on Merch by Amazon.

When you are listed as a pure "freelancer" here in Germany you are legally not allowed to do marketing stuff. Just Services. Selling licenses via print-on-demand is a niche for those people, because this is concidered as "artistic output" and can be performed by freelancers. If you want to market your "art" you would have to sign up for a "trade".

@shimmy how about people that are combination of multiple characters you showed?....
    Combo 2
Eg. If its a combination of bob(designer) and sam(marketer)..
    Combo 2
Or they are tom but they are a learner with interest in tasks of both bob(design) and
sam(marketing) so they decide to learn ofcourse not just for print on demand but in general learn these skills for any
business they can apply to while also applying it to print on demand..
    Combo 3.
Or they have a slight mix of bob, sam, tom in them i.e they know little bit or lot of design + lil or lot of marketing + theres a lot or some they dont know so they are willing to improve and learn.
    Combo 4
What if they have the little or more knowledge of mix of multiple character bob + sam but have no experience in it but they are willing to get the experience by getting into print on demand and other businesses with things they know and also improving by learning things they dont know...
Regardless i believe we know that world is very diverse ofcourse there will be lot of people who have 1 main best skill or personality such as bob, sam, tom but there are people who have lot of different
skillsets of these 3 general characters with different amount of expertise in it.

that much of time in my life left (22 yrs old already so thats old,not in general way but a feeling)
since lot of time goes on functioning by sleeping, daily chores, eating etc already that leaves me lot less time)
So i d like to pick a skill i am best/good at + is suitable for my psychological, physical, financial etc circumstances + im actually interested + have a potential to grow in regardless of what level of skill i have first eg. Creative skills (art, design, music, photography, craft, dancing etc ik it sounds a lot like jack of all trades but there are lot of
creative skills than what i have, and i eliminating what i my last choice of main business would be eg. Singing, dancing (dont want to be a celebrity)
and another skill i need (eg. Business skills are necessary for anyone who wants financial freedom and we cant leave that to a partner all the time since partnerships may or may not work)
Also i could hire different ppl for each particular work eventually but thats an option when the business is at a bigger level so starters have to do as many things as they can
+ lil bit of support from other people + temporary affordable hires if possible than full time..
(And since you ve confirmed it already that its ok and we agree the above stuff is just an explanation so theres no misunderstanding so you can just ok it if you agree)...
But i wanted to know i plan a lot of stuff and check stuff like copyright infringement about fonts (which are legal to use etc n i found em), accidental
trademark infringements etc so i dont have a problem later on and i do wish
to take action but i m sort of safe person that checks atleast basic legalities first and then enters the market so i wanted to know if its ok to take a bit of time to review the basics and
then upload stuff instead of rushing (as long as i dont keep procrastinating it and theres a healthy balance between consuming the knoweledge, planning, applying it in action)

yes its great but you really don't need to go this far. You don't need 10,000 followers to get accepted to merch. Apply now and see what happens, if you don't get in apply again...
