Farms are businesses, as well as homes. I understand inheritance tax, any tax, is about re-distributing wealth, for the benefit of society as a whole. In order to sell a property, a farm, someone has to want to buy it, and 20% inheritance tax, on what you have not sold, is an estimation, on what you could sell the farm for. You might not get that estimated value, if you eventually sold the farm. Paying 20% of £1000000, would be £200000, which if not selling the farm, is an extremely high cost, when farms are a business with business costs.
Thanks sir. Good man.
