I kinda agree and disagree with "stanning predebut groups" opinion. In aespa's case, it was kinda weird that many people jumped to either loving or hating them even before sm announced members. But for cases such as NCT it kinda makes sense if you stan predebut cuz they had dance practices, music released, even a small reality show before The 7th Sense
Aespa members were already at SMROOKIES where SM promotes their trainees to go on shows and stuff, plus Karina was already a ullzzang and have like 6k followers on instagram already so i get why they have pre debut stans

The reason why I would have liked them to debut with going crazy was simply because I loved the song and preferred it over boy. I get what you're saying and obviously they would have gotten over going crazy since they would have sang it during treasure box. They look so nice’ and that equals to u stanning a group for its visuals in the beginning. Then u choose if you keep stanning the group if u like their music or not. Also aespa’s debut was good so I don’t get all the shade towards aespa just bc of their fandom haha
no offence but that's a little weird, I've never actually come across someone who 'stans for visuals'. The fact that you mention that, shows some people are focused on looks and not the music (which should instead be the main priority), and that evidently some idols have pretty privilege. This is probably a factor as to why many idols are insecure because their visuals are used as a 'marketing strategy'- which is just sad lol . This is just my perspective, considering I don't actually find many idols that visually appealing lol.

In my opinion there's Nothing wrong with it, but don't shame those who weren't there in the beginning. There's nothing wrong with stanning them later either. Also sometimes you can be a fan of a group before the even debut if they were on a survival show so you got to know the members from the show before they actually debuted. Like enhypen and treasure for example, it makes sense for people to call themselves a fan since predebut for those groups. Or even ATEEZ bc I’ve known them since before they debuted since they were making dance covers and performances as the kq fellaz almost a year before the debuted.
I think the difference is that some groups that have fans from pre-debut are because they came from a survival show or have some kind of program before debuting (I-land, Producex101, SM rookies, etc) so fans already kind of have an idea of the talent and what kind of personality each person has

Its not wrong, but I agree with this person that I find it strange to stan a group (to the point of setting up promo accounts, etc.) before even hearing their music. Just because I stan groups based on their musical content and performances; not their visuals or grainy pre-debut videos from middle school. So waiting to hear their content and see their chemistry as a group is important for me before committing to stan; I think this person probably thinks similarly.

I don't know about other SM groups this person named, but as an Exol-L active on Twitter, I saw my fair share of new MY's hating on EXO, and Kai in particular, especially after Karina's texting rumor/scandal. Understandably, EXOLs weren't very happy with the screenshots and accusations until they were debated by SM. But some MY's were overly protective, to the extent that they starting attacking EXO and Kai in retaliation. It was all so stupid. But there was quite a bit of it.
I think there's a limit to stanning predebut, but it's still possible. Lot's of groups have actual pre-debut content like NCT, Monsta X, Treasure, etc. They have proof to show their abilities as well as personalities. For example, DSP has a predebut group called DSP N (right now) that have dance and vocal covers on their channel, as well as vlog content to know them. There's substance to stan them off of before they debut. But yeah, I think stanning just based off of teasers is really hard.
I am a little late but when you mentioned treasure's "MMM" it actually doesn't have dirty lyrics, the lyrics aren't meant to be dirty it's just our minds thinking that the lyrics are bad. I hate to see people saying Treasure is being "sexualized" because that isn't the case. "MMM" isn't a dirty song, I had to comment just because I've seen so many people talking about this.

Aside from being an EXO-L and Luvie I'm also an aespa fan (My) and i observe that in My's fandom there are so many younger fan compare to my other two fandom. Enhypen actually has a meaning. I think its beautiful. A hyphen (this little thingie - ) connects two words with different meaning to create a new one. Now Enhypen indicates the connection then discovery of the new act and creation of it. It's so deep (the meaning) I LOVE IT

I don't know why so many of y'all are calling me an aespa anti, literally nothing I said in this video about aespa was even directed towards the group other than I didn't like their debut song. And in regards to my last point in my 6th opinion (6:23), what I should’ve said instead is that a weird group name can put me off from checking out their music, rather than put me off from stanning them. And I would also change the wording from ‘weird’ group name into ‘poorly thought out’ group name. Because so many boy group names are just comprised of random letters and numbers, it makes them almost indistinguishable from each other and I’m constantly mixing the groups together. I get that these letters and numbers are supposed to signify some sort of meaning, but these types of names just aren't enticing upon first impression. However, there are also group names that aren’t just comprised of random letters and numbers that still manage to be poorly thought out. And notable examples of this include the ‘brother’ groups named oneus and onewe who were formed by the same company. I think that giving these groups such similar names is such a bad idea. In regards to what I said earlier about poorly thought out group names putting me off from checking out their music, for the longest time I didn’t even know that oneus and onewe were completely different groups, and then at point, for whatever reason I thought that onewe was a subunit of oneus. I remember watching a couple of oneus’ music videos, but I guess their music isn’t really for me since I wasn’t the biggest fan of those songs, and so I wasn’t enticed to check out their discography. But because of this, I also wasn’t enticed to check out onewe’s discography either since I thought they were the same group. It was only recently, after the time of uploading this video that I learnt that they were two completely different groups and I actually really love onewe’s music. So what I’m trying to say is that not only do poorly thought out group names make me cringe, but they can also confuse audiences which can potentially play a part in compromising a group’s success.

all the groups I stanned predebut i stanned because they had content out like Stray kids (i watched their survivial show when it was being released), Loona, and MCND. I was around when itzy was going to debut, and i was excited but there were only teasers and no predebut content so I didn't stan until after they debuted and there was the opportunity to get to know the members.
I think that stanning groups that were formed on survival shows or at least had some content out that actually showcased their talents and personalities pre-debut is completely reasonable. I was mainly talking about those who stan groups who debut with barely any content prior to their debut.

In my case I prefer to wait for the debut day even if i know there is some predebut content and if i like their songs start to stan. Yes, i get excited when a teaser is drop for a new member or debut MV, is an oportunity to know the members but i wait for the full song and album.

I totally agree with the treasure opinions, to be honest I was super excited when treasure was announced to debut but after boy came out I was put off, but still wanted to Stan but then I love you came out and I gave up on stanning. I think the concept of following/stanning a group before debut is fine if they are releasing a boat load of content. Like for Purple Kiss, they are having predebut releases and also have a ton of content and covers. I feel the same way with Weeekly as well.

I think the reason twice's 2020 releases didn't hit people as hard is because they changed producers for ICSM, they were given Zara Larrson's unused 2015 devut song for M&M (immediately making it dated and not really made for twice, although they still rocked it) and the teasers for both comebacks revealed way too much, deflating the hype before they even dropped.

I kinda agree and disagree with "stanning predebut groups" opinion. In aespa's case, it was kinda weird that many people jumped to either loving or hating them even before sm announced members.
But for cases such as NCT it kinda makes sense if you stan predebut cuz they had dance practices, music released, even a small reality show before The 7th Sense

Its not wrong, but I agree with this person that I find it strange to stan a group (to the point of setting up promo accounts, etc.) before even hearing their music. Just because I stan groups based on their musical content and performances; not their visuals or grainy pre-debut videos from middle school. So waiting to hear their content and see their chemistry as a group is important for me before committing to stan; I think this person probably thinks similarly.

I don't know about other SM groups this person named, but as an Exol-L active on Twitter, I saw my fair share of new MY's hating on EXO, and Kai in particular, especially after Karina's texting rumor/scandal. Understandably, EXOLs weren't very happy with the screenshots and accusations until they were debated by SM. But some MY's were overly protective, to the extent that they starting attacking EXO and Kai in retaliation. It was all so stupid. But there was quite a bit of it.
I think there's a limit to stanning predebut, but it's still possible. Lot's of groups have actual pre-debut content like NCT, Monsta X, Treasure, etc. They have proof to show their abilities as well as personalities. For example, DSP has a predebut group called DSP N (right now) that have dance and vocal covers on their channel, as well as vlog content to know them. There's substance to stan them off of before they debut. But yeah, I think stanning just based off of teasers is really hard.

Aside from being an EXO-L and Luvie I'm also an aespa fan (My) and i observe that in My's fandom there are so many younger fan compare to my other two fandom. Most of the time the younger fans in general are immature and easily triggered, even if u tried to make them understand they're like meeh.

I don't know why so many of y'all are calling me an aespa anti, literally nothing I said in this video about aespa was even directed towards the group other than I didn't like their debut song.
And in regards to my last point in my 6th opinion (6:23), what I should’ve said instead is that a weird group name can put me off from checking out their music, rather than put me off from stanning them. And I would also change the wording from ‘weird’ group name into ‘poorly thought out’ group name. Because so many boy group names are just comprised of random letters and numbers, it makes them almost indistinguishable from each other and I’m constantly mixing the groups together. I get that these letters and numbers are supposed to signify some sort of meaning, but these types of names just aren't enticing upon first impression.
However, there are also group names that aren’t just comprised of random letters and numbers that still manage to be poorly thought out. And notable examples of this include the ‘brother’ groups named oneus and onewe who were formed by the same company. I think that giving these groups such similar names is such a bad idea. In regards to what I said earlier about poorly thought out group names putting me off from checking out their music, for the longest time I didn’t even know that oneus and onewe were completely different groups, and then at point, for whatever reason I thought that onewe was a subunit of oneus. I remember watching a couple of oneus’ music videos, but I guess their music isn’t really for me since I wasn’t the biggest fan of those songs, and so I wasn’t enticed to check out their discography. But because of this, I also wasn’t enticed to check out onewe’s discography either since I thought they were the same group. It was only recently, after the time of uploading this video that I learnt that they were two completely different groups and I actually really love onewe’s music. So what I’m trying to say is that not only do poorly thought out group names make me cringe, but they can also confuse audiences which can potentially play a part in compromising a group’s success.

all the groups I stanned predebut i stanned because they had content out like Stray kids (i watched their survivial show when it was being released), Loona, and MCND. I was around when itzy was going to debut, and i was excited but there were only teasers and no predebut content so I didn't stan until after they debuted and there was the opportunity to get to know the members.
I think that stanning groups that were formed on survival shows or at least had some content out that actually showcased their talents and personalities pre-debut is completely reasonable. I was mainly talking about those who stan groups who debut with barely any content prior to their debut.

i don’t agree with the aespa stan part. i’m a blink but don’t deny that SO MANY fandoms were dragging aespa before they even debuted with fake malicious rumors. it’s hard for fans to be perfectly nice when their group is getting unnecessary hate from multiple huge fandoms. after debut MYs weren’t rude rubbing things in after they broke multiple rookie records. their MV goal was 3M in 24 hours but they got like 25M, they weren’t even getting bold. MYs aren’t that bad. no aespa fans were saying their better than RV or BP let’s be real, and if anyone did it’s clear their setting them up. this video just screamed aespa anti to me.

Enhypen sounds like a great name now. But when it was announced on I-land I was cringing so hard. Because the names of groups that debuted in 2020 were pretty ridiculous. Aespa sounded weird to me at first as well. Cravity. But oh well it normal for me now.
mmm is my favorite title track so far but I can def see where people are coming from with the mv. Personally I don't feel too uncomfortable yet, but if things went any farther then it rly wouldn't be ok. I'm glad I haven't rly seen fans sexualizing them tho, especially the ones younger than 18. The only group you can talk about staning before predebut without sounding like an idiot is LOONA and they’re a verryyyy specific case.
Why is LOONA the only case tho? What about groups that come from survival shows where they’ve already showcased their talents? Groups who’ve already made pre-debut content or released pre-debut music and performances (LOONA is not the only group to do that, although they definitely went much more in depth with solos for all the members)? I don’t understand why it’s such a sin to be a pre-debut stan, and even if someone’s in it for the visuals at first, it doesn’t mean that they can’t learn to love the group for their real music and performances. As long as nobody’s hating anybody or making unnecessary comments on people’s bodies, why’s it such a big problem😩😩
i stanned treasure predebut because they are from a survival show which i watched so i saw their talents and they also have going crazy, relay cams, variety shows, vlogs and for their personality and their attitude as a group. it's not that i stan for their visuals, but i stan them for their personalites and attitudes. Going crazy was a bop too so i had no choice but to stan

Personally I didn’t dislike zimzalabim because of its concept, but it’s the structure of the song and how disjointed it sounds to me. Also some of the outfits were questionable. I felt like they were going for camp, but at the same time failed to find the sweet spot.

Not true. For your comment, even if a group has shows and content, they haven’t released music. I mean it’s possible to stan a group even if you don’t like their music but that’s rare. I think fans should wait to stan until hearing music

I didn't stan them for their music as I didn't enjoy their first 3 comebacks!!! but their recent comebacks have been SUCH BOPS! I was so stupid to think that MMM was okay until I learned its concept and lyrics, and of course after watching the choreography for the chorus multiple times, I started feeling uneasy. And I finally came back to my senses and realized Haruto is a minor. (Haruto because he was also the one who's in the center.)
I'll have to disagree on the fancy and feel special opinions. I think the third best is Yes or Yes, but Fancy is just crack in my ears, and I love the feel special dance so much. I think the reason twice's 2020 releases didn't hit people as hard is because they changed producers for ICSM, they were given Zara Larrson's unused 2015 devut song for M&M (immediately making it dated and not really made for twice, although they still rocked it) and the teasers for both comebacks revealed way too much, deflating the hype before they even dropped.
