@@_alar_ it's like in the serie, the AE86 can go faster in the descent, it has less weight, and its racing in his own area. Also Takumi is a genius, someone with a far superior skills and in circumstances equal to the series should be able to win. But just someone like Keiichi Tsuchiya the drift King. although I don't think I know enough about cars to speak, I am only giving my opinion.

@@slenderkreper9641 it makes no sense though the r32 has more steering angle (at the front) combined with 4 wheel steering not only that, but the ae86 wheel base has a minuscule difference to that of the r32 (94inches ae86) (103 inches r32) which gives a general idea that the ae86 and r32 would be matched in terms of raw turning ability with the ae86 being better in the braking department but loosing out mid corner because of the solid axel shifting rapidly rather than being consistent like IS, and the fact that he lost because of loss of tire grip and oversteer makes even less sense because the ae86 was drifting causing its tires to wear possibly even faster than the r32 despite its weight. In conclusion the ae86 would have lost.

r32 was never meant to be drifted, it is awd with special anti slip system called atezza and it also has rear wheel steering which turns 1° to maintain friction to the ground better and drifting r32 is modified one which has front differential removed so only rear wheels will slip better and that's why Takeshi got r32, it has best gripping than any other car

Bro i need you to excuse that, but I think superior characters were professionals, an guy who did not notice he's Professional too much but does not yet to handle machinery, and even Takeshi Nakazato he looks up in his enemies and thinks he can equal with them and really can if he was professional enough. I think professionalism does the part in here, since the real physics or helped with the graphical physics(Car physics) was Keiichi Tsuchiya, who also known as a pro drifter on a 86, Also tuning is their reason why their cars was perfectly balanced, every car guy knows this R32 or newer GTR Series tend to had a heavy front due to it's engine, or any other heavier parts on it, But it doesn't mean that you can't modify it, but even tho you tuned it well very well brakes all of them were modified, still you can't just only grip a car, you also need to be careful when to drift it, Turn ABS only on a lighter scale, and most of all, Skills without any skills, you cannot modify it,
the original initial D was better, the 3D/CGI and animation was on point, also the acting, it even shows why anime surpasses western animation when even a reaction video mentioned the scenery when takumi one a battle and got some coffee through the vending machine. Hell even in 'detective conan' if the show lights out the window signifying night life shows the detail shown in anime

correct me if I am wrong, but is the high horsepower needed by Nakazato to attack the corners? His style of racing is inferior when there are hairpins, perhaps the higher horsepower is there to compensate for it.
@@Cc-tl1fc not really, his trail braking technique is fairly useful on any kind of corners (even on hairpins), it minimises understeer significantly and increases the grip levels. His technique was good and his understanding of the car was good too, irl such a driver who knows the weakness and strengths of his car and eliminates those weakness by using various techniques should be almost invincible. But in this anime they always show him loosing to other cars, which is quite depressing since an r32 driver who performs lot of trail braking and uses the grip of the 32 to his/her advantage should be next to invincible. The 32 is an amazing car but it’s not perfect, the poor weight distribution causes it to understeer heavily on its limit, nakazato used trail braking to minimise that very understeer. But idk why but they always show him loosing to other cars, r32 with a driver who eliminates its weakness should be the perfect recipe for speed but in this anime it is not so. I wish that he had more screen time and I wish that he learned the skills to minimise tire wear and took the r32 to its glory
