You sir, are the consummate fisherman. Really appreciate the experience.
As always nice to see some fishing while I sit idle in NY. The Dark matter poles are in the DSG stores. At the Route 110 store there is a older salesman named Stan. Used to own a baitshop and knew you since you were 15. Very very nice guy, very rare to find anybody in a DSG that knows fishing gear etc.
Stan Hentchel! He was the tackle guy when I was a teenager.
Why be idle in NY? Freshwater is going, trout, pickerel, panfish and maybe bass. Lots of trout in NJ and the Catskills.
White perch in brackish water.
Bottom fishing for tasty fish in the salt.
Save some Snook for the rest of us John! Well done
Modern trolling motors are in fact a thing of beauty. I just had a discussion with my 85 yr young Dad about them. Awesome vid. Thanks John.
Way to go. Nice Snooks
Love the blow up from snook on top water. So exciting
Those 2 huge snook reminded me of big stripers. They take that quick long run before you're battling with their weight.
The craziness of those small to midsize snook had me thinking of backwater blues and summer river smallies. Crazy jumpers and shakers.
Sportsman AP 120 has a 37” beam, that fish looked to be at least 39”.
Is that a Hobie or Old Town powered pdl kayak? Thank you.
@@davidfriedman3962 The kayak in the video was John’s Sportsman AP and it is an Old Town kayak. I believe he still has his Hobie Outback maybe just at his FL home.
Great fishing as always John Skinner !
Insanity. Best snook vid yet.
Great video John skinner , snooks are good fighter , catch lot of them when u was in my country , thank u for sharing, John.🌊🐟🎣
Good haul.
Happy New Year!
Wow that is amazing
Big snook on top water in a nutshell. Boy is it exciting though. Nice work as always.
Thanks. Those blowups really are a rush.
Nice catches! Three more weeks and I’ll hopefully be doing the same thing on the East coast😊
Great Action 💯
The Old win some lose some 😂. I know it all too well. I had about an 80lb wahoo I battled off AC this year for about 45min. I got it next to the boat wired it and right as I went to gaff it it bit through my mono. The worst part is it's all on video. Along with my crying 😭😂
Great job
Happy New Year John 🎣
Same to you!
Reminds me of blue fish
trolling motor is an essential piece of kit for those big uns
I really messed it up on that first big one though. Lucky to land it.
Great video John but you forgot one thing always set the hook on feel not on site and those hooks. Look a little small for them big mouths on the snook.
Bigger hooks would mess with the action and appearance of the plug. I'm setting on contact, which is why I often say "never touched it" on explosions where I just maintain the retrieve. If I feel it I set very hard. Sometimes the hooks miss.
i have two of those evicts.. inspired by john. John you don't find them to be heavy? i can tell its your favorite reel. ive read your article several times.
John, would you ever feel comfortable with a single hook on the rear of that lure?
I tried some test casts with one and didn't care for the action, especially with other than glass calm water.
Do the snook generally swim so quickly toward the boat when you hook them?
The big one I lost did. I'm exploiting the jumps on the others to get them to the kayak, and away from the mangroves, faster.
looks like cape coral maybe?
Are you going to release the plugs to the market John ?
I've signed off on them and they should be available in a couple of months.
Skinner, how would that rod marry up to a VS150? plan to use it for shore plugging in the intercoastal.
A 150 or VR50 would be fine. You can beat on it.
@@JohnSkinnerFishingthanks John.
You have to change the stock hooks they are always poor
John, what knot are you using for your lure?
he is using a clip
Loop knot. Easy to tie. Just look it up
Noice
