    I like comparison like these. But I wish you guys choose which is really the better boat from the comparison (for a particular function, ie. day sail, weekend, or open water etc) without worrying about offending the manufacturers.

    • @christophstahl791
      @christophstahl791 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      1. it says 37ft group test, not boat with the number 37 in their name......
      2.the OC 37 and the OC 38 are both a bit more than 37 feet long and not 38...
      3.if you would have read my last comment you might have understood it and answer like a normal educated person without vomiting your incapability onto your keyboard...
      3.what in the world makes you think that i am american you close minded fuck....

    • @christophstahl791
      @christophstahl791 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude you should seriously consider angermanagment!! :D and maybe a reading course because it clearly says 37FT family cruiser group test not family cruiser with the number 37 in the name.....
      Plus my intentional comment I wanted to point out, that the OC37 is out of production and replaced by a much better boat in the same category (length)named OC38 that would rival the other boats much better....
      And plus I understand your common consumption of americans (even if still a bit narrow-minded), but still what makes you think that I am an american?#iamnot :D
      You should better spend more time on a boat to resolve your issues man!

    Jeff, as the owner of a Jeanneau 379, I think your comments are rude and thoughtless. I have had people admire my boat on many occasions, commenting on the beautiful lines and sleek appearance. It is a fast, roomy boat that was a delight to live onboard for 6 weeks this summer, and I can only applaud the European manufacturers for building boats that people the world over are buying.

      They are aesthetically pleasing to look at and seems the modern engineering to acquire those looks is the love he mentioned. Good looking boats

    • @rosewood1
      @rosewood1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the 379 is an amazing clever yacht. Really innovative and sails very well indeed. A winged keel with centreboard and twin rudders provide a versality few other yachts could dream of. Good up wind capability with 7 foot draft yet an ability to cruise the inland waterways. Brilliant

      I'm looking at the Jeanneau for the versatility and established performance but also used bavarias seem to be a good buy.
      Has anyone done any analysis on depreciation over time? I'd love to see some comparisons there. The people that can afford a more expensive boat and still sailing the same waters and still subject to the same limitations.. It just depends if say a crocodile on a T shirt really makes it a super powered T shirt :-)

    I put a search in for best 37ft cruiser and this popped up. I have to say they all look so cheap compared to older boats and now I’d like to know how these 3 boats stack up against say same size an Island Packet , a Najad . Moody . I’m thinking these boats would come out better
    What say you all ?

    In Sweden these type of boats is called "snails on water" they don't look to bad at first glance but they sail hideously compared to more striped down boats such as corbies or some x-boats. But sure they give comfort just like caravans.

    Interesting that the Bavaria cruiser 37 doesn't have dual rudders, my 2017 cruiser 46 has them and I think it's actually slightly better to sail than the beneteau 46.1. The main reason why I chose the Bavaria was the price, I payed 170 000€ for a fully equipped 46ft boat, killer deal.

      Bavaria sailing boats from this era hate sailing upwind, my 2017 Bavaria C46 can do 8.5 knots of speed in 15 knots of wind on a beam reach, but it's terrible upwind in 20 knots of wind you can't get over 6 knots.

    3 cheaply built bolt on keels... death traps when the keels fall off.... how many times has that used production junk boat with the beautiful interior been run aground? You don't know, and the seller isn't going to tell...do you trust their word against your child's life? Once these bolt on keels have been aground... JUST ONCE... it is impossible to say what the strength of the bolt on keel is. It's a cheap way to build plastic boats that are sold at boat shows from the inside out. Death traps... beautiful interors you want to hang out in, but death traps.

    More hideous-looking, sterile Euro-barges. It's a real shame that production sailboat design has gone in this direction. If you want something more traditional and lovely to look at, take a look at Caliber or Morris.

      ....tell us, what's it like living in the stone age???

    • @jeffpuha8187
      @jeffpuha8187 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      friskyfellow I normally don't reply to ignorant personal attacks such as this, but, I will say that I'd much rather live in a "stone age" that features consideration, kindness, love of God and man, and objects of beauty, rather than the current age of sexual and moral perversion, heathenism, narcissism, vanishing ethics, intellectual ignorance, and created objects as ugly as the society that created them. The abject rudeness of the comment directed at me by "friskyfellow" reinforces my point.

    • @friskyfellow
      @friskyfellow 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Jeff Puha ....Jeff what on earth has your rant got to do with my comment, you said "more hideous looking sterile Euro barges...." I was disagreeing with you on the bases that the world has moved on in terms of design and manufacturing, take the motor industry for example that no longer builds wheels out of stone or timber, we have put man on the moon, we have found the wreck of the Titanic, see all these things have come from our progression from the Stone Age and the same goes for the boat building business, your lovely old styled Caliber/Morris yachts are to you a thing of beauty but to me and I would think millions of others a little dated and "old fashion", as a sailor that sails a Hanse 385, yes one of those "...sterile Euro-barges..." and having owned and sailed yachts a little like the type you seem to love, all I can say is that to sail or cruise in this day and age, I know that the modern product is streets ahead, as to your thoughts re: consideration, kindness, love of God and my fellow man etc etc I could not agree with you more...note that I am an older person late 60's and also a little cheesed off with Porsche as they now only make the 911 GT3 with a "girls" gearbox, an auto no manual so I will have to hang onto my[997] 911 GT3 Mk 2 and be happy with my lot.

    • @jeffpuha8187
      @jeffpuha8187 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      friskyfellow I made a general comment, directed at no one in particular, based on my sense of aesthetics. To which you made a rude reply consisting of a snide, personal attack on me. You suggested that I live in the "stone age" because I have a love for, and appreciation of, traditional sailboats and a strong dislike of the current trends in boat design. That's what prompted my "rant". You, like so many on TH-cam, hid behind your anonymity to make an infantile personal attack on someone you don't even know. It's another aspect of modern society that I detest.
      If you had simply disagreed with me in a courteous manner, without the rude sarcasm, that would have been different. Do you understand now?
