Just bought one of these last weekend and my god do I love it. I got it so it can be my main TEOTWAWKI firearm because all I had was a .380 shield and a mossberg 500 “riot shotgun”. So I decided I needed some sort of semi automatic rifle with higher capacity which led me to the PC carbine. It’s cheaper to buy than an AR and wayyy cheaper to shoot/easier to carry a lot of ammo at once. It’s easily my favorite gun I’ve ever owned, it’s just like shooting an adult BB gun
Just picked up a Jawbone Tactical mag release. They make it for right and left hand shooters. You can release with regular release or with trigger finger. Pretty awesome.

Love the review for this model, might I suggest a series of steel targets that are cut to musical notes so then your plinking vids will essentially be "music to our ears", ha ha!
The rail in the front is because you want your red dot attached to the barrel, so when you take it apart and put it back together gour zero doesnt shift at all.
Bought the original. Take delivery Monday. Ordered extended charging handle, will place on left side. Extended billet magazine release, and paracord sling.

Might wanna wear some ear pro, regardless, if you don't want to be asking everyone to repeat themselves years from now. Anything that's not firing both sub-sonic and suppressed WILL damage your hearing, even if you don't notice it immediately. I'm not trying to tell you what to do. It's your body after all. I've just met too many people that wished they had used their ear pro more when they were younger.

Part of the pc carbines appeal is that it looks like a traditional hunting rifle. That is a big plus for a lot of people especially if you live somewhere where an AR might get you looked at negatively
That little rail where the rear site is on the other models would be great for a NV clip on site. I suppressed mine with a Hybrid and put a Millet 1-4x DMS on it with clip on NV site. Using UN Ammo’s 165gr subs is the ultimate dark side set up.
Had a couple of the original PC9s (both mtg'd in 1997). Loved them. Not nearly as fancy as your featured piece, but fun, fun, fun to shoot! I shot both with irons, no optic. Anyway, always enjoy your videos, amigo! Keep up the fun work!
Honestly we need more carbines that are in that 5-8 hundred dollar range. 9mm is much cheaper than rifle rounds but you still get better performance than a regular pistol
You should see what happens when you put a pc9 carbine barrel on the ruger .22 charger. I believe they use similar parts, and everyone is wanting interchangeable chambers in the future, and maybe that would be a step in that direction.
Always been impressed with you and your videos. I thought so highly of this video that I actually purchased this firearm and love it except I disagree about the extended mag release. It makes it too easy to drop the mag and I have done so accidentally several times now and think that it's a drawback not an asset. If you lay the firearm down on a table on its side it will usually pop the mag open. That side of the firearm is pretty much flat all the way down so it actually rubs nicely against your leg except if you have this giant protrusion now it doesn't. If anyone wants to buy my enlarged Tandemcross mag release button I would be willing to sell it at a discount.
I pulled the trigger on one today and it felt really smooth and not heavy at all like most coming out stock. I might grab one because you can adapt Glock mags

I saw one of these PC's with Magpul shotgun stock on it and it looked great! With a Magpul stock and the new round handguard I bet it would be a big seller.

Send your request to Boyd's. They may already have a wood stock/furniture for it. Or if they don't already, they may be working on it currently or maybe you just need to plant the seed. I'd like to see wood stocked PC carbines.
Making it out of wood seems really problematic withe the interchangeable Magwell big mag releas home and mag funle so close together that it may start cracking up form use over time as well how high a price they would charge for it

Got mine few months ago, have had it a range couple times now and it shoots like butter, hit that steel at 100yds almost every time with a sig sauer red dot. Love shooting it.
You'll shoot your eye out kid. But for real get one I have the 2018 first generation and love shooting it and some times I let people at the range try and rite after they say they need one and how much do they go for and if I know what shops have them in stock
I'm thinking maybe a small picatinny could be added to the top front of the barrel guard to add a fold down? There are slots on the top! That was the first thing I was looking for once I saw the irons were missing.
For those of you who are going to get this model, may I suggest two things.. Get mbuis sights, locate them at the far ends. Place your QD red dot on that small portion of 1913 rail. God bless, stay safe.
Living in PC-Sweden this rifle is one of the few semi´s with high capacity mags it is possible to get. Suppose the name of the gun gave it some slack :D
I really hope Ruger starts doing this in 10mm. I'd love to get my hands on one with some more oomph. Or maybe figure out some sort of wildcat like a 10mm necked down to .32 as kind of a beefed up 7.62 Tokarev. 327 Magnum power in a 30 round mag sounds awesome to me. Seriously good for coyotes.
Check out the 40super or the 224boz. Talk about some cool old bottle neck pistol cartridges. One of my in-laws still has an old 1911 in 224boz, thing is awesome. He stopped reloading years ago & never reloaded for that particular cartridge anyway. He won't shoot it anymore bc he only has a few boxes of it left but regardless, it's still a cool pistol. The round has great armor piercing capabilities too. And that 40super is a BEAST, like a heavy for cal 7.5 FK burno. Kinda reminds me of 429DE.
@@JamesWillmus Got exactly that setup. Mechtech 10mm carbine conversion upper, and I made a poly80 pf-45 lower for it. I don't shoot the 40 though, it was for investment. all I do is remove the lower from the carbine upper, and put my factory glock 20 slide on it.
DISCLAIMER....id like to say something about this gun that no one else has on TH-cam...as far as I know...bought this gun 5 years ago, and, let me state first that I love Ruger firearms, im just talking about this one firearm and my experience with it. Bought it and loved it. It worked great and still does. About a year ago, I went to my buddy's farm, and I brought my ruger 1022, my pc9, and mossberg 590a1 with me. And we shot some paper for a little while and chilled, and then I left. I put trigger locks on my guns, and i put them in the trunk and went home. This is wintertime, BTW. I came home and chose to leave the guns in the trunk and get them tomorrow since I live in a really quiet new subdivision, and nothing ever happens. The next day came and I still didn't bring them in the house. The day after that, I was going to work, so I took the guns out of the trunk ( they were in foam gun cases) and put them in the house. After work, I came home and was in the process of taking them out of the case and putting them in the safe. The first case I opened was the mossberg, I took it out, looked it over, and it was in great shape, so put it in the safe. The next case was the 1022, and the same thing I looked it over and everything was great, and I put that one in the safe too. When I opened the last case, my heart sank, and horror came over me. The pc9 was rusted everywhere. I baby my guns, and when my mind downloaded this horror in front of me and I realized what was going on it was akin to waking up in the morning and finding a baby in the crib blue in the face. I'm being facetious, but it's pretty close. I panicked and ran for the oil and tried to get rid of the rust, and even after half an hour, it was not coming off. I kind of gave up on it and tried to cool off. I figured I'll try again tomorrow, and ill watch some TH-cam videos on rust cleaning tomorrow. Tomorrow, it's the same thing I couldn't get the rust off, so I figured I'll take the gun apart and clean the inside just to prevent any more damage. When I opened the gun up, I was in disbelief. The rust on the inside was so bad that it ate some of the metal. I have never experienced anything like that before, and I've owned 100s of guns. I was so mad at Ruger, and it really changed my opinion on this gun. 2 and a half days in the trunk and the gun rusted to that extent? I dont know if anyone has a similar experience, but I really regret buying that gun. I don't know what they sprayed that gun with, but that's ridiculous...just my 2 cents
I just picked mine up! Such a nice set up! Ruger did a great job with this one! Now my next challenge is trying to find some 9mm to feed this beauty! Its like a needle in a haystack right now... Seriously.
Maybe if it were chambered in 10mm. Otherwise I just dont see a point in PCC's for anything but plinking (if you like spending more money on 9mm to "plink") and gamer guns.
The new platform looks awesome and great for those who want it for competitive shooting, I like the original look of the PCC. If i want a carbine to look like an AR, I'd just get an ar9 lower and build it. That's just me tho. It does look sweet with the happy stick lol

Me too. I was going to get it with just the floating fore grip but saw the Magpul adjustable stock and it looks more like an AR platform. It was $669 at my local gun dealer. I think the standard model was around $540. With just the floating fore grip it was around $600.
I will. I reload 9mm and shoot IDPA three gun and possibly steel challenge next year. I should have it by this weekend. I’ll let you know what I think.
Jeff Degen great. Let me know how it performs and how it feels. You have your week end cut out for you. I’ve found that heavy 9mm bullets like the 147gr have less recoil in 9mm a PCC than the 115gr. At least it is my perceived recoil. Enjoy and let me know.
Some years back I bought a Ruger LC9 with Crimson trace laser and signed up for the free battery and have yet to get one. Thought it might be a limited time offer but now guess I need to see what went wrong.

My guess would be that they haven't done it because they don't have any pistols that fire 10mm outside of 1911s and revolvers that they could use for mags. They have a 40s&w SR series pistol so they had mags for that to use instead of having to pay glock to include their mags in the box. It would be cool if they were waiting to release a Security-10 or something like that that would pair with a new PC carbine.
@@LordSquirrelShow And yet, one of the biggest selling points for this carbine is the fact that it takes Glock magazines. They're already going to charge more for a 10mm version, so why not factor that into the increased cost and ship it with 2-3 Glock 20 magazines?

This is probably one of the best home defense weapons you can buy. The always trusty 9mm and 17+1 of em'. It's quieter, and very little recoil.

I'm thinking maybe a small picatinny could be added to the top front of the barrel guard to add a fold down? There are slots on the top! That was the first thing I was looking for once I saw the irons were missing.
I think you can add fixed sights to it. It was a give and take to keep the price down.
For those of you who are going to get this model, may I suggest two things..
Get mbuis sights, locate them at the far ends.
Place your QD red dot on that small portion of 1913 rail.

Living in PC-Sweden this rifle is one of the few semi´s with high capacity mags it is possible to get. Suppose the name of the gun gave it some slack :D

I shoot mostly 124gr and 147gr 9mm in mine, seems to like those heavier weights.
I really hope Ruger starts doing this in 10mm. I'd love to get my hands on one with some more oomph.
Or maybe figure out some sort of wildcat like a 10mm necked down to .32 as kind of a beefed up 7.62 Tokarev. 327 Magnum power in a 30 round mag sounds awesome to me. Seriously good for coyotes.
God yes! Get a Carbine in 10mm and a Glock 40. Perfect two gun set.
Check out the 40super or the 224boz. Talk about some cool old bottle neck pistol cartridges. One of my in-laws still has an old 1911 in 224boz, thing is awesome. He stopped reloading years ago & never reloaded for that particular cartridge anyway. He won't shoot it anymore bc he only has a few boxes of it left but regardless, it's still a cool pistol. The round has great armor piercing capabilities too. And that 40super is a BEAST, like a heavy for cal 7.5 FK burno. Kinda reminds me of 429DE.
They need to make this rifle, in a .40 super.
@@JamesWillmus Got exactly that setup. Mechtech 10mm carbine conversion upper, and I made a poly80 pf-45 lower for it. I don't shoot the 40 though, it was for investment.
all I do is remove the lower from the carbine upper, and put my factory glock 20 slide on it.
DISCLAIMER....id like to say something about this gun that no one else has on TH-cam...as far as I know...bought this gun 5 years ago, and, let me state first that I love Ruger firearms, im just talking about this one firearm and my experience with it. Bought it and loved it. It worked great and still does. About a year ago, I went to my buddy's farm, and I brought my ruger 1022, my pc9, and mossberg 590a1 with me. And we shot some paper for a little while and chilled, and then I left. I put trigger locks on my guns, and i put them in the trunk and went home. This is wintertime, BTW. I came home and chose to leave the guns in the trunk and get them tomorrow since I live in a really quiet new subdivision, and nothing ever happens. The next day came and I still didn't bring them in the house. The day after that, I was going to work, so I took the guns out of the trunk ( they were in foam gun cases) and put them in the house. After work, I came home and was in the process of taking them out of the case and putting them in the safe. The first case I opened was the mossberg, I took it out, looked it over, and it was in great shape, so put it in the safe. The next case was the 1022, and the same thing I looked it over and everything was great, and I put that one in the safe too. When I opened the last case, my heart sank, and horror came over me. The pc9 was rusted everywhere. I baby my guns, and when my mind downloaded this horror in front of me and I realized what was going on it was akin to waking up in the morning and finding a baby in the crib blue in the face. I'm being facetious, but it's pretty close. I panicked and ran for the oil and tried to get rid of the rust, and even after half an hour, it was not coming off. I kind of gave up on it and tried to cool off. I figured I'll try again tomorrow, and ill watch some TH-cam videos on rust cleaning tomorrow. Tomorrow, it's the same thing I couldn't get the rust off, so I figured I'll take the gun apart and clean the inside just to prevent any more damage. When I opened the gun up, I was in disbelief. The rust on the inside was so bad that it ate some of the metal. I have never experienced anything like that before, and I've owned 100s of guns. I was so mad at Ruger, and it really changed my opinion on this gun. 2 and a half days in the trunk and the gun rusted to that extent? I dont know if anyone has a similar experience, but I really regret buying that gun. I don't know what they sprayed that gun with, but that's ridiculous...just my 2 cents
I just picked mine up! Such a nice set up! Ruger did a great job with this one! Now my next challenge is trying to find some 9mm to feed this beauty! Its like a needle in a haystack right now... Seriously.
Maybe if it were chambered in 10mm. Otherwise I just dont see a point in PCC's for anything but plinking (if you like spending more money on 9mm to "plink") and gamer guns.

The new platform looks awesome and great for those who want it for competitive shooting, I like the original look of the PCC. If i want a carbine to look like an AR, I'd just get an ar9 lower and build it. That's just me tho. It does look sweet with the happy stick lol
I like open sights for CQB guns. I'll definitely get the trigger upgrade when I pick up my PC9. Hopefully they come out with a 10mm.
They should offer as a pistol with 10” barrel. Now that would be fun!!!!

Jeff Degen Hi. How much was it in that configuration? Without the optics of course. This is the first time I’ve seen the Ruger PC9 in this configuration.
Me too. I was going to get it with just the floating fore grip but saw the Magpul adjustable stock and it looks more like an AR platform. It was $669 at my local gun dealer. I think the standard model was around $540. With just the floating fore grip it was around $600.

I will. I reload 9mm and shoot IDPA three gun and possibly steel challenge next year. I should have it by this weekend. I’ll let you know what I think.
Jeff Degen great. Let me know how it performs and how it feels. You have your week end cut out for you. I’ve found that heavy 9mm bullets like the 147gr have less recoil in 9mm a PCC than the 115gr. At least it is my perceived recoil. Enjoy and let me know.
Some years back I bought a Ruger LC9 with Crimson trace laser and signed up for the free battery and have yet to get one. Thought it might be a limited time offer but now guess I need to see what went wrong.

Yup I take my Glock 17 to range with my 2018 model ruger carbine same mags and ammo for bother guns works out great

My guess would be that they haven't done it because they don't have any pistols that fire 10mm outside of 1911s and revolvers that they could use for mags. They have a 40s&w SR series pistol so they had mags for that to use instead of having to pay glock to include their mags in the box.
It would be cool if they were waiting to release a Security-10 or something like that that would pair with a new PC carbine.
@@LordSquirrelShow And yet, one of the biggest selling points for this carbine is the fact that it takes Glock magazines. They're already going to charge more for a 10mm version, so why not factor that into the increased cost and ship it with 2-3 Glock 20 magazines?
