Just awesome .Showed the video to my son's I have 2 autistic boys 10 and 12 They were blown away .How a guitar and a pair of voices can make fantastic music !It's Not Rap crap .It's the real thing .No samples !
I love this format--Roger and Pete acoustic! They should do an acoustic tour just like this instead of the full blown electric--then maybe they would never have to retire!
Wow-- 1 of their best tunes! Haven't heard " Substitute" in an age( or two) It's like hearing an old friend you haven't seen in ages. Imo, "I can see for miles " is THEE soundtrack for that era in the mid-sixties--
Roger is great. This guy loves being in The Who!! Pete is the man. I'm glad to see he is embracing the fact that The Who were great and he looks like he is really enjoying it now.
Can still get up and have it live with just Pete on the guitar and with no backing studio crap. Says it all about this band, their music and their sheer talent
One good thing Paul Stanley ever said was you can tell how good a song is by how it sounds played acoustically. By this standard and based on this set, the Who's songs are absolute genius.
As far as I’m concerned if these two went out on a acoustical tour that would be awesome to see, I was lucky enough to see The Who twice while John Entwistle was still alive.
It is the music and the exquisite competency of the musicians. The lyrics transcend the ages. Do not think because they are aged, that the message dose not also apply to you, at your peril. Talent is not eclipsed by age. Thank you Mr.’s Townsend and Daltry for your artistry and willingness to continue performing!
"Who cares it's just fun" that's the perfect spirit from Roger and I always love watching him because he so obviously really gets into what he's singing! And Pete really seems to enjoy himself too (finally!) he was in great spirits when I saw the at Hyde Park they were so fantastic!! And seeing the love between them is wonderful
+MsMoonTheLoon They've both talked a lot about the evolution of their relationship over the years. For a long time they pretty much hated each other. The love you mention requires that both of them accept that they are completely different in fundamental ways but the other guy is not 'wrong'. Their strongest bond is charitable work. Pete has quietly mentored dozens of other people who achieved success and wanted to give back. Both are patrons of the Teenage Cancer Trust with Roger taking a lead role, helping to raise awareness and millions of pounds annually.
Daltry barely sounds any different then he did when they recorded Substitute in the 60s And he’s singing in the same key as the original record and that’s pretty damn good.
And stripped down, live, in a small venue....just incredible. No studio tricks. He can still sustain those high notes (the best I ever haaaaaaaaaaad.....perfection!)
Ive really only listened t the early stuff and I wondered how Daltrey sounds now because I have always considered him one of the greatest rock vocalist. He's still got it.
They sure did. It's odd though in Pete's biography, he says how insecure he was as a songwriter early on with the band. So many incredible song hes given the world.
Even though I know how great they are, having seen them countless times, this clip never ceases to amaze me with their utter brilliance. Pure unadulterated talent.
Never in my widest dreams did I ever think I hear the loudest band in the world play unplugged they sound great. They should put out an unplugged album
I think it would be awesome if Pete and Roger would record something like this in a studio, just the two of them, doing stripped down acoustic versions of some of their songs :).
I am proud of them.....Bravo!!! They have come a long way and survived a great deal! I like where they at at the moment...and would like to see them helping young artists.
How about Pete's left hand. wow! Just when I realize that the Who may not have been my most favorite band of all time, I listen to them again and again ...mind blown.
Ladies and gentlemen I would like to present* Pete Townshend,,, one of the best of the best,,, guitarist the hardest working and the most creative musician and song writer I've ever seen to date.
I anything, Daltrey's voice has matured like a fine single malt whisky. It has more confidence now, that certain gravel to his singing brings out the maturity of his age, yet with still the anger of a teenager. He is at the top of his game.
Roger's throat surgery in 2009 really gave him a new lease on singing.... Sounding amazing... better than he's been in 30yrs, and the frightening thing is it keeps getting better and stronger!!! Looking forward to the next chapters!!!
WOW...Pete and Roger are amazing just the two together. Add in the great John and Moon. If they came out today they're still going to be stars. Pete is simply one of the greatest rhythm guitarist of all time, he's incredibly adept at making the guitar sound percussive, especially acoustically.
These guys just keep getting better! I had their albums when they were new and still love them even though my music taste has moved to bebop and beyond..
This is an old video, but this is how these guys should be performing now. Roger sounds great in an acoustic setting. I love the who but 1975 was a long time ago.
Loved your impromptu mini unplugged concert Pete & Roger!!! It’s always a treat to here you perform your awesome music!!! You guys are still as fantastic as ever. Been a huge fan of yours since I was 9 and started playing guitar. I saw your Quadrophenia Tour a little while back some 10-11 years ago and loved it!!! You finally pulled it off fabulously without a hitch. So glad you gave it another go. I absolutely loved how you had videos of John & Keith’s performances and played along with them. That bass solo of John’s was incredible and really showed off his talent as one of the best bass guitarist ever. Oh and Kieth singing Bell Boy gotta get runnin now Bell Boy carry the bleedin baggage out! Bell Boy always running after somebody’s bleedin ills!!! You don’t know how many days that got me through working for the man. What a special treat and tribute to them. You must miss them so much!!! I know I do!!!
I love this acoustic performance... Great to hear Pete singing some of his old high harmonies that he lets his brother / other backing singers sing these days...
je suis dingue de P.T. depuis tjrs...Mais encore plus depuis que j'ai vu les 2 films sur The Who et Lambert and Stamp sur Sundance.Regardez, vous allez adorer.
I remember back in the 60's on AM radio "I can see for miles" had no idea who sang it. I was about 7 or 8 years old. Then "Won't get fooled again" at 11 or 12. I grew up with "The Who". I can go on and on, and now at 63 years old I see Daltrey and Townsend play together and it brings back so many, many memories. That's why they are my favorite band and in my opinion the greatest rock and roll band of all time. The reason why is there were bands that copied all the great bands we grew up with, Zeppelin, Stones ect... but NO ONE COULD COPY THE WHO. Townsend wrote lyrics, the music to those lyrics but he also wrote sound. Genius
I feel my mortality when good things go away, the who lost Keith to an overdose of the alcohol medicine he was prescribed. One of the greatest drummers of all time Maaaaaaybbe the best. Entwistle no doubt about being the GREATEST bassist of all time. Sorry Geddy, sorry flea he was better. I'm watching this with tears in my eyes. Things change, they have to for good or bad. However I would Stand naked, stoned and stabbed To see the original band play. And I call that a BARGAIN
As much as looking out onto a crowd of thousands must give them such a high, an intimate gig with a small audience of real appreciators of their songs must give them a different but equally satisfying buzz.
When you hear those old sayings such as... "Fine wine gets better with age" or "the older the violin.. the sweeter the music". Well, those are sayings... This however is proof. Look and listen to these two old West-End geezers and tell me this isn't fanfvckingtastic. They sound amazing.
Man, Roger sounds freakin GREAT here! The def kept his voice in tact all these years!
Lennon & McCartney …Jagger & Richards..Plant & Paige..Townsend & Daltrey…glad I grew up listening to these legends
7 are still alive. 7/8
@@louisflores861 Roger Daltrey didn't write songs as far as I am aware.
Don’t forget Difford and Tilbrook.
Bam 🤙
Count your blessings.....millennials are envious of us :-)
Pete has to be the best guitarist/ songwriter ever. The pure beautiful talent of this guy!
Well, better than Dylan and Simon but no one holds a candle to Joni Mitchell.
Nevertheless, Pete is a god. Other than Joni, f the rest!
She wrote Blue and did an album with Charles Mingus. That’s just the surface. No one will ever read this but it felt good to write. BTW - I LOVE Pete.
Pete is probably the greatest acoustic player at this time, always has been, and one of the great electric players of all time.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The day they aren't around anymore will be the day my youth is gone.
I hope I die before I get old.
Just awesome .Showed the video to my son's I have 2 autistic boys 10 and 12 They were blown away .How a guitar and a pair of voices can make fantastic music !It's Not Rap crap .It's the real thing .No samples !
Hearing that is music to my ears too, wonderful!

Daltrey now 71, Pete 70. Both in incredibly fine voice. How can that be. It's a ticket I'd buy for sure.
I've always taken The Bargain as a spiritual song, which is where I was at the accepting Christ. And Pete was too, although not Christian.
I just love these guys. Ever since I was a young boy.
And you’ve never seen anything like them, in any music hall?
same here
Now this would be a greatest hits album!!!! Pete and Rog unplugged. What a treat this has been!! Love the who!!
Pete's right hand..... Sense of rhythm is untouchable......
Roger is great. This guy loves being in The Who!! Pete is the man. I'm glad to see he is embracing the fact that The Who were great and he looks like he is really enjoying it now.

Priceless when Pete's finally smiling over to Roger at 14:16 !
Some of the most inspirational music of all time hands down. Incredible
Just discovered this..... so beautiful... brilliant. Dear Alan R....rip.
I will never get tired of listening to their music.
Two of the best Rock and Roll legends. Long Live Rock!
If this is old age, bring it on brothers. Amen.
There's a certain amount of pain involved.
More like vintage classic age. And yes...bring it.
grinning from ear to ear watching this..Pete and Roger are so in sync it's unreal.
Incredible
Pushing 80 and kicking!
Always be one of my favourite bands. Pete, probably my fave song writer, guitarist. FFS, he is amazing.
"The Kids Are Alright" was immaculate! Long Live the 'Oo!!
This is an absolute treasure. They both sound terrific!
As far as I’m concerned if these two went out on a acoustical tour that would be awesome to see, I was lucky enough to see The Who twice while John Entwistle was still alive.

Great songs
Great performance, what a pair of legends, much respect :)
That was just awesome. Never seen that performance. An wow does won't get fooled again fit in just fine for what's happening today!!!

MsMoonTheLoon i saw them last night super good! They looked like they were having a lot of fun as usual!

Fantastic! The voice of Roger has never been so smooth and tuned and the guitar of Pete is tight and loud! Superb!
Ive really only listened t the early stuff and I wondered how Daltrey sounds now because I have always considered him one of the greatest rock vocalist. He's still got it.
@Lloyd Bonafide I love the guy so much but I think Freddie was the best we're ever likely to see
Best front man ever no competition and still got it both them have
Cliff and Betty Townshend created a genius
They sure did. It's odd though in Pete's biography, he says how insecure he was as a songwriter early on with the band. So many incredible song hes given the world.
These boys. These boys...
Roaring, screaming, age defining rock and roll right there.
The rocket engines of pop.
"Bargain" was just freaking brilliant
An excellent acoustic concert!!
Bands like Kiss could only dream of writing brilliant music like this.
This is my favourite version of this song. Incredible performance.
*********** 12:10 ************** Won't Get Fooled Again. Wow, listen to Roger's voice. Wow.

AcWhoustic?
Look up “The Secret Policemans’s Other Ball” - two Vynil discs from the late 70s , lots of who acoustic.
EXACTLY!

How about Pete's left hand. wow! Just when I realize that the Who may not have been my most favorite band of all time, I listen to them again and again ...mind blown.
You mean his right hand. That's what defines guitar players, not the left hand.
@@da324 I feel that Christian actually meant Pete's left hand. His speedy chord changes are almost unmatched in guitar history.
The Who are my favorite band of all time!
You mean his right hand...the left hand can be taught...the right hand is who you are as player actually.
How about both hands.
Cette vidéo traduit une amitié et une complicité musicale qui n'a failli au fil des ans. Un vrai bonheur!!!!!
Two living legends of rock. Outstanding!
two freaking legends
EPIC...!!! Just freakin' EPIC!!!! Roger and Pete ROCKS!!!

Raging Reg Roger’s voice is shot. This was an anomaly
Raging Reg well I read his book and he said he had lesions on his cords so they had to remove them
Pete Townsends brilliant acoustic on Won't get fooled..... Wow!!!
