Good for you! Do you mean you don't want to hide in your room coding video games? Keep researching and maybe when you're 16 you could get apprentice job as a helper, or even work at a plumbing parts store. Just find ways to start learning now and get a head start on your adult professional career.
I'm in HVAC, and when I started I couldn't even work a wrench correctly. I worked so hard and concentrated on being the best technician I possibly could be, and I have reaped many benefits bc of it. Never lose your hunger in no matter what you do

Commercial is something you usually get I to once you got some years under your belt, bc it's a lot more to it, and everything is a lot bigger. Tbh becoming an HVAC tech was the best decision I ever made in my life. I love what I do, and it pays really well

@@theworldbegoinup3289 it really depends on the company and their type of workload. Some company's do 95% residential, with maybe 1 technician that does commercial. Some company's do 50/50, and some do nothing but commercial. Here's a tip, if you want to do HVAC, some company's will hire guys with no experience so they can train them up themselves, but if you don't have any company's that hire guys with 0 experience there is school in little Rock Arkansas called UTA. They throw about 3 semesters worth of knowledge and lab into 3 weeks. You go to class Monday-Friday for 10 hours a day (6 hrs lab- 4 hrs class time) land they offer all your certifications. By the time you leave you'll know pretty much all the basics, and you will have your EPA, and Nate certifications. P.S. Your very Welcome man anytime brother. The industry is begging for up and coming HVAC techs Edit: most companies want you to have some experience before you ever start doing commercial work. So you could always get some residential experience and the go job hunting for a company that does commercial, or you could get lucky and try to find a company that does commercial and they are willing to train you
Construction specifically grading and utilities. Started as a laborer after dropping out of college. When I was 20. Now at 26 I am s project superintendent, overseeing multiple projects. Within our scope as a grading and utility such as storm and sewer. Listen, learn and don’t leave until the job is done. Also grow thick skin and you will be successful!
@@daboss3763 Figure out what trade you want to do first and if you want to do service or new construction. Then from there you go about applying union or non union(local contractors). I'd advise learning a bit about each trade you can before deciding on one. I'm the same age coming up on 4 years into plumbing and have enjoyed it so far. Theres a lot to learn but always good resources on the internet like roger wakefield and got2learn, etc. Goodluck!

I'm 38 now. Started with a plumbing company at 15. Been a plumber ever since. Love the job. Hate the smell. Was actually going to start taking classes for electrical and hvac as well. Never hurts to learn and never to late to do it.
I literally just jummeed into the HVAC trade 4 years ago. I literally knew nothing, I didn't even know the difference between a boiler and a furnace! 😂

But it's a vast trade to work in because it's a mix of plumbing and electric. So yah, just make sure you get in an apprenticeship when you start at a new job. Recommend pipe fitter and refrigerant

These tips also help with journalism. I'm a journalist looking to leave for a trade because I live in Canada and Canada is very trade dependant. I didn't realize just how much we rely on the trades here in Canada until COVID happened. Wanting to be the best is definitely motivation, and I'd like to be one of the best electricians when I'm done rehabilitating an injury that I got at a non-trade job. I figure, if I'm going to be in pain all the time, I might as well be helping build others up.
The trades did not work out for me so I became a teacher. I still like doing trade projects though. I also like to advocate for the trades in the classes I teach. (My legs are messed up)

I started as a laborer with my mason contractor stepfather at 14 during summer. We also did concrete work. Just learned from him year after year and finally became a master mason. Bought him out when he retired and now the kids do it as I retired. My advice is just ask if someone needs a laborer and work hard and ask questions. I trained a lot of people but also fired a lot. We love to help those who see their future in the trade.
Myself, started with landscaping out of and during high school, got into commercial paint 1 year after high school, loved drywall learned drywall became skilled at drywall made lots of money on drywall, started to like hvac learned some didn't get to use it much for money, started to like plumbing learned plumbing now work in plumbing on top of drywall make good money on plumbing and drywall. Only plumber and drywall in one step ive heard of yet, customers love it and they will pay for the convenience!
You also need to watch out for supervisors that want to make your life miserable. Guys who scream or yell at you for doing exactly what they told you to do. There’s no shortage of Narcissistic bosses who want to take their frustrations out on someone. If you find yourself in this position, find someone who isn’t this way to work for.

11 yrs in hvac, 8 yrs as a journeyman and taking my contractor test next month. I would recommend starting in installs even if you plan on being a service tech or even sales. I hated it but I'm so happy I did.
@@granthoover9045Installs can be a ginormous pain in the ass especially as a beginner in HVAC. There’s a big learning curve to HVAC but once it start to get dialed in, it starts to become routine work. The hardest learning curve about HVAC is diagnosis. Learning based off the issues with the system, knowing what the issue is. Installs are a pain because it’s a lot of heavy lifting, getting in cramped and uncomfortable spaces and learning the difference connections.
18 got into an hvac company in Manhattan, im with a pipe fitter it’s awesome for now but i will move to plumbing new construction when i get a few more certifications
Geez im like the only machinist here *crickets*. I actually work for a design and building firm programming joinery cnc machines. Its really interesting seeing the prospectives of the construction guys vs the design side (the structural design lead is a construction guy so kudos to the company there) and both of them to the machinability of the designs. Especially with software designed without machinists in mind. Theres a whole lot of great collaboration with us all learning each others language so to speak. But, they still make fun of me for using terms like chip load and cutting parameters. Then they get grumpy when i kept asking at the beginning if the tenon was the innie or the outie😁

I'm 26 yrs old, never a handy man but I'm interested in pursuing tradesman career. I've been in an office for too long, it pays enough (for now), pretty comfortable work condition, with benefits however it's soul killing. I don't want to work or see myself getting old in a Corporate world. Should I just continue to climb the corporate ladder, go for a few vacations then grow old. Or pursue tradesman where it's demanding yet fulfilling?
That's entirely up to you...we all want something different in life..Personally I like working with my hands and being in the trades...it's not for everyone

I’m a Honda/acura master technician. Been in the auto trade for the last 10 years. Obviously the auto field is completely different than other trades due to the flat rate pay and not needing a license or anything to work on cars. The industry is going down the toilet and I’ve maxed out my pay, have shit benefits and am now struggling to make over 70k a year due to lack of work and warranty jobs (which don’t pay shit). I’m almost 30. Do you think it’s too late to start another trade? And for anyone thinking about being an auto tech DON’t DO IT!

I’m an electrician currently working solar, kind of want to transfer into residential service but at the same time solar is exploding in my area right now so there is plenty of money to be made. Not sure what I want to do right now lol
Definitely would stick with solar for a year or two more build up the savings account then go for residential, try it out and if it doesn’t work out so well you’ll have the savings to lean on

I love your vids question when recently had a water leak to the line going to the house that was leaking 100 hundred bucks of leak got fixed but now theirs no water pressure of cold water in the bathroom hot works find we think when we fixed the leak it got good pressure that something in the cooper line came loose or leaked but we go under the house and had no sines of a leak once the line get full pressure is good for a few minutes someone suggested theirs a clogged line a week we had muddy water what else could it be
Love your videos. Question for anyone who can answer it. Being in Texas it gets extremely hot, does anyone have advice on trades that have less heat exposure? Or alternatively, how do you deal with the extreme heat, besides the obvious proper hydration? I am always amazed at the hard work being done in construction, while I am melting just stepping outside. I am capable and enjoy manual labor, but dealing with extreme heat makes it difficult for me to consider a career in the trades. Surely, I'm not alone.
Sounds bad but you can adapt to the heat. Get good clothes, breathable material. Electrolyte powders in water, wear a big hat, there are shorts and long sleeves that are good for this. I have a towel with ice packs in it to wraps around my neck. Helps a lot. Just try out new stuff you haven't before.
Drink lots of water, wear those dry fit polos. Soak your shirt in water every once in a while. Honestly I can't really tell you much other than that, because I haven't worked outside in years. I am/ was an interior finish carpenter, I became very good at that because I knew I didn't want to be outside.

I wanna get Into the excavation/site work side of construction and just landed a spot with a good sized company. I would like to go union in the future. Is the apprenticeship the smart way or what are the other ways in?
Try carpentry, hvac, or electrician. If you can’t get into a union you can get experience in an entry level grunt position like HVAC or Electrician assistant. I’d recommend finding an entry level job because most trades require 2-4 years so give it a try before you jump in.

How do I learn what would be right for me though? I would need to do it hands on, and at that point I already went in kinda deep in order to get said job to get hands on experience...

I’m a Honda/acura master technician. Been in the auto trade for the last 10 years. Obviously the auto field is completely different than other trades due to the flat rate pay and not needing a license or anything to work on cars. The industry is going down the toilet and I’ve maxed out my pay, have shit benefits and am now struggling to make over 70k a year due to lack of work and warranty jobs (which don’t pay shit). I’m almost 30. Do you think it’s too late to start another trade? And for anyone thinking about being an auto tech DON’t DO IT!

I’m an electrician currently working solar, kind of want to transfer into residential service but at the same time solar is exploding in my area right now so there is plenty of money to be made. Not sure what I want to do right now lol
Definitely would stick with solar for a year or two more build up the savings account then go for residential, try it out and if it doesn’t work out so well you’ll have the savings to lean on

I love your vids question when recently had a water leak to the line going to the house that was leaking 100 hundred bucks of leak got fixed but now theirs no water pressure of cold water in the bathroom hot works find we think when we fixed the leak it got good pressure that something in the cooper line came loose or leaked but we go under the house and had no sines of a leak once the line get full pressure is good for a few minutes someone suggested theirs a clogged line a week we had muddy water what else could it be
Love your videos. Question for anyone who can answer it. Being in Texas it gets extremely hot, does anyone have advice on trades that have less heat exposure? Or alternatively, how do you deal with the extreme heat, besides the obvious proper hydration? I am always amazed at the hard work being done in construction, while I am melting just stepping outside. I am capable and enjoy manual labor, but dealing with extreme heat makes it difficult for me to consider a career in the trades. Surely, I'm not alone.
Sounds bad but you can adapt to the heat. Get good clothes, breathable material. Electrolyte powders in water, wear a big hat, there are shorts and long sleeves that are good for this. I have a towel with ice packs in it to wraps around my neck. Helps a lot. Just try out new stuff you haven't before.

Drink lots of water, wear those dry fit polos.
Soak your shirt in water every once in a while.
Honestly I can't really tell you much other than that, because I haven't worked outside in years.
I am/ was an interior finish carpenter, I became very good at that because I knew I didn't want to be outside.
If your trade requires a college degree call some companies and a lot of them will actually send you to college for free.

Many things in plumbing. From repair remodeling to new home. Install Then you got electricity. If you like that. Then try this path

Entry level trade jobs are fine but if your looking for stability in the future consider going for an apprenticeship.

Try carpentry, hvac, or electrician. If you can’t get into a union you can get experience in an entry level grunt position like HVAC or Electrician assistant. I’d recommend finding an entry level job because most trades require 2-4 years so give it a try before you jump in.
Plus you will have a bad back, knees or hips when ur 40
