  • Bill shows you how to install a BMR Tubular K-Member with Standard Motor Mounts on your 2005-2014 GT or 2007-2014 Shelby GT500 Mustang.
    Purchase Product Here:
    www.cjponypart...
    BMR's Tubular K-Member is designed to work with both OE and BMR Tubular A-arms and Spindles on all 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 Mustangs with the electric rack and pinion steering.
    Features:
    Integrated motor mount design for more clearance and less weight
    Works with both OE and BMR Tubular A-arms
    3-bolt mount for 2011 and newer electric rack and pinion steering
    Includes all necessary mounting hardware
    Available in your choice of a durable black hammertone or red powder coated finish
    Utilizing a new integrated motor mounting design, for improved clearance and reduced weight, this Tubular K-Member from BMR checks in at only 27lbs. Compared to the OE K-Member weighing 45lbs., this 18lb. difference is sure to be a noticeable and welcome improvement for front end weight reduction. It also provides additional room for headers and turbo systems.
    Please Note: BMR's K-member replaces the heavy OE hydraulic motor mounts with high durometer polyurethane bushings resulting in increased noise transmission into the body. These bushings are designed for minimal flex. Decreased motor movement from stiffer motor mounts will create additional noise and vibration into the body.
    Installation should take about 3 hours and we recommend getting some assistance when removing your stock K-Member and putting the new one into place. Fitment was great and will shave around 28 pounds off the front end of your Mustang.

    The BMR K frame really looks nice on the car but it looks like it could be weaker then the factory k frame what is the thickness and diameter of the tube steel ?

  • @PullTab

    Is the transmission jack really holding the entire engine up? This is a lot quicker than using a engine hoist.

    Why take out the kooks for the JBA? I know kooks are technically a mid length header but are still considered a long tube and both power and sound are pretty similar between the two?

      Pretty late but It should line up with the bolts. If you’re asking about him saying you should take it to get a alignment I’m sure he meant wheel alignment.

    I can't use che k-member brace with torque limiters with this. that sucks. Does anyone know what tap i need to chase the threads on those rear k-member bolt holes? I cross threaded one.

    Do you think it would be easier to install long tubes to drop the K member or not to. I've heard it's easier dropping the K member, but it looks like alot more work. Thanks :)

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't find it any easier but a lot of people do. IMHO if you drop the K member you better add an aligmnent after the install which adds cost and time.

    On 05-09 mustangs, since it has power steering, can it stay installed on the car or does it have to come out with with k-member? Anyone know this?

    • @devilstangsjustin8165
      @devilstangsjustin8165 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Victor Barraza little late but yes, it can. I zip tied (14" heavy duty ties doubled up for a total of 4) mine to the front sway bar to get it out of the way.

  • @MrEgopathy

    Great video! I'm curious, if I have long tube headers, would the lowered motor mounts lower the header ground clearance enough to worry about? I'm on coil overs and don't want to scrape!

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It lowers the engine roughly an inch so you will be lowering the exhaust around the same. If you are low on coilovers like this car is I wouldn't go with the lowered mounts.

  • @alexandrewoods3763
    @alexandrewoods3763 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does it matter which direction you install the front steering rack bolts. I've seen where some people say to install with the head of bolt facing the ground

    Will the factory bellypan and air deflector fit with the bmr k-member and radiator support?

    • @cjponyparts
      @cjponyparts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will have to zip tie the back of the bellypan around the tube since there are no mounts for it on the BMR.

    OK.. silly question of the day, what would be the benefit of the lower motor mounts in a drag race application?
    Also, how was the fit of the JBA headers? Thanks, great video as always

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lower center of gravity helps but the real reason for those is hood clearance with larger twin screw blowers. They fit really well. The H pipe took a little work to get fitted properly but the headers cleared everything nicely.
