This was a great episode. I am taking Eschatology at OHBC and this has helped also as a supplement to my class! Definitively signing up for Life of Christ course! Thank yall!
Great video! This sheds a lot of light on a tough topic. I am a little confused on what he meant by Christ acending offering his blood on the mercy seat and descending as Mary Magdalene goes to the disciples. Where does that come from? Thanks!
The passage in Ephesians that makes reference to the descent says, Ephesians 4:8 "Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 10 He that descended us the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things." This refers to the ascent of Christ into heaven after he descended into Sheol and as he delivered the ancient saints. At this exact moment, Mary Magdalene would have also been arriving at the sepulcher, only to discover that Christ's body was gone! (John 20) In the interview, Dan makes reference to the mercy seat because it was the place in the tabernacle where God dwelt (Exo 25:22) and where he made reconciliation with his people through the blood sacrifice. When the resurrected Christ stood before God in heaven (after his ascent), it was to reconcile God's people once and for all - the ultimate blood sacrifice (Romans 3:21-26). A major passage on this topic is Hebrews 9. It's an amazing explanation of the final atoning work of Christ. We hope this will help you study the topic further. The Living Faith Bible Institute offers a course on Hebrews and we would love to have you join us! God Bless. -Answer given by Pastor Brandon Briscoe, Provost of LFBI.
