    Great video but isn't a new derailleur hanger cheaper than the tool?

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. First, it can take quite a bit of time to even locate the right hanger. There are literally hundreds of models and styles. But even a new and well-made hanger can need checking. The frame interface with the hanger is often less than perfect, so you are aligning the new hanger to the specific frame.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When threaded parts, like nuts, come loose, it is most likely they were not fully tight. It is difficult to get a torque wrench on the parts, but when holding a wrench at say 6-inches from the nut, apply at least a 60 pound effort. See also th-cam.com/video/dpl_wlTBC8k/w-d-xo.html

      I feel the opposite. I generally like the park tool videos, and I rely on them as an instruction set of sorts for their tools. I feel like they are leveraging Seth's popularity and his 1 million + subscribers to boost Park's exposure. I just wish the Park side of the videos wasn't so "watered down" ... and I'm trying to be nice here. Seth knows how to build and fix a bike, but here they make it look like they need to show him how to push the tool just right like he is learning something. Seth even got interrupted twice when he tries to talk. In the last installment two park guys were hitting things with a hammer in some "don't do this at home" hack. Then they argued with the commentators and deleted their comments even though anyone who watches Tech Tuesday knows they know better. Hopefully the guest appearances are over and both channels can go back to normal.
