So excited to see your Yarn Jam fiber colorway spun up! I just signed up for a spinning class in late September. I'm tempted to buy some of your colorway now and spin it up after I practice for a few months.
I'm so glad you mentioned that issue you were having with spinning that undyed Targhee. I've spun several braids of Targhee in the last year or so and none of them have had that issue. However, I did have that same exact problem with this Rambouillet I started spinning, and it's not that it won't draft easily, but like how you described, that it's kind of small clumps of fiber that kinda go rouge and don't grab onto the rest of the strip of fiber. I eventually tried attenuating my fiber and still had the same problem. If you hadn't mentioned that I would have thought it was all Rambouillet, but it sounds like it may be certain batches of fleece and mill specifics... or something... lol. So don't give up on Targhee and I won't give up on Rambo yet
@@nicoleyahc ok deal! I had great luck with some Rambouillet so I won’t give up on Targhee! I’ll get a dyed braid and try again soon 🥰 thanks for letting me know you experienced something similar!!
If I were to do an unspun project I might do a short sleeved Nebula holding one strand with a mohair… if I get some other things off the needles first haha.
Love seeing all of your projects. Your Daydreamer looks amazing! I'm surprised by that by Targhee fiber you were showing like you said maybe just the way that specific one was prepared. I'm newish to spinning and spun Targhee as one of my first spins and didn't have any issues with spinning it. So pumped for the YarnJam release!
Yes someone else commented this happened to them with Rambouillet but that's never happened to me so it must have just been the prep! Yay can't wait to see what you make with some YarnJam fiber!
Love your Ever After! It comes across overall cool toned in the video. Suits you well (and great lipstick pairing again 😀). If it was guaranteed that a hand dyed yarn knits up this evenly I would try it!. Kip is also awesome! Excited for the unspun mal!
@@oldwitchknits-Ursula yeah I think it’s pretty cool toned too! There are definitely dyers that do a better job of this overall with variegated just the short color changes helps a lot! Thanks for wanting to buddy make with me so we could do the MAL!
Meghan, your Kip is gorgeous! I'm excited for the pattern release and it will go into my humongous queue. I love a woolen-spun project - warm but so lightweight. I do have some Ulysse in stash purchased for another project but maybe I'll cast Kip on instead. This week I completed my Framed body & a baby gift set. Next up is to frog my Daft Days button bands, redo the pickup (fewer stitches) so I can complete the collar and wear it. Doesn't it already feel like Fall in Seattle? Happy knitting!
@@donnarasor5662 it feels like fall lite lol! Fall but with sunshine which is actually amazing! Your projects sound great and though idk what your other project is for the Ulysse - the Kip is so cute! 🥰
I love the idea of the unspun KAL! Will you allow WIPs? I have one lingering, but I also want to knit a couple more sweaters in unspun this fall/winter. Also, if you enjoyed the Kip sweater weighing so little, the unspun should be even lighter!! That’s what I love about it. Downside is that I’m a slow knitter and with unspun I’m even slower. But the outcome is so worth it for me.
Lovely episode. I'm not a pink person but your kip sweater and your Moonset tee are gorgeous. I have a question : do you read while knitting? Happy knitting !
Thank you!! I love them both I must be in a red/pink mood right now lol! I mostly just audiobook listen while knitting but on occasion I do knit and read on my kindle - it's just slower both for reading and knitting so I tend to only do this when I am super invested in a series!
Your Kip is beautiful. I love that color and how well the texture shows up. Look forward to see it on you next week. I do have a question. You have spoken a couple of times about using hair conditioner to soften up a scratcher yarn fabric. Could you clarify? Do you just use an amount of conditioner similar to wool wash in cool or warm water? How long do you generally allow the item to soak? My yarns felt soft when I bought them but together they feel less soft. Just want to try to soften it up.
@@juliamorrisey5541 hey! Yes great questions! If something is feeling scratchy I will use tepid water (maybe just cooler than room temp) and put in normal amounts of wool wash (I use a bar so idk what the equivalent would be but like a dollop lol). Then I put in like a dime size drop of hair conditioner - I think last time I used like a garnier or something and lather it up in my hands then rinse those in the wool wash water to transfer it in. Then I just soak like normal but for at least 1 hour - more is better I think. And I do maybe swish it around a couple times but don’t like agitate. Then I rinse a bit - just a bit not too much - when I drain the water and dry as normal!
