my pointer mix is 10 yo. every one says its too late to get him there but seeing this 7 yo lab pick it up like this gives me hope I can give him the experience he was bread for.
This was awesome. I started training my chocolate lab named Ruger at 2 years old. We both went duck hunting for the first time in 2020 and this video is exactly how it went.😂 2021 was the season he got his first retrieve and from there it was on my shooting skills got better and he got more patient and quiet. I actually went hunting with some guys i know and they complimented how well he behaved compared to some professionally trained dogs. I hope you and Riggins get that first retrieve its the best feeling in the world when every comes together. Good luck brother 🤙
@@dorsaloutdoors come on! You have so much time! Y’all inspired me I have a golden retriever and I just look at her and think she needs to be out retrieving those ducks! I’ve never hunted but to say that my husband is excited is an understatement! So again thank you for documenting your journey! Also may I pass along this message from Pastor Gary Keesee Faith Hunt! th-cam.com/users/liveWKeAKt3QCPo?si=GLRRr3AJZan82Njm
Loved this. Its amazing because Riggins has no idea you are doing all this for him. To him, hes accompanying you on this journey. But that dog is having the greatest life I think a dog has ever had. Cant wait for Pt.2
This deserves way more views my friend. I can tell how much effort you put into this as well as the season for you and riggins. Next season should be a blast!
Amazing story thank you for sharing. if I may as a shooting instructor offer some advice, slow down, the shells that you are shooting are probably pushing out pellets close to 900 MPH, so use your eyes first lock on the bird's beak or something outstanding on the bird, like a color on its neck or head, then get into your gun, match the speed of the bird with your swing of the gun while looking at nothing but the bird and trust your hands to get the gun where it needs to be before pulling the trigger. Don't rip off three shots in a row without having some type of visual connection to the bird. Riggins will thank you for it.
Really appreciate this. And it's funny you mention the "slow down" part because I've been doing a lot of clay work this summer and that's been the key. Not rushing the shot, pinpointing an area, and pacing. Now, not going to boldly proclaim it's all "fixed" haha but there's a chance.
Man this is a helluva an offer. Thanks for believing in Riggins! We've got big plans for opening day, but if that falls through we'll sprint up to North Carolina.

And he'll honestly just love the adventure and "going" part. That's what was so cool about all this.

Thanks, Cody! We're counting down the days to November 29, because it does feel like all the pieces are there. Just need a little bit of luck..
🤣 More Riggins! Loved the film and the dog even more.
Great shoot

Thanks! That was something I didn't realize until we were 1/2 through the edit. That Riggins, was having a blast regardless of "success"

Thanks! I really appreciate it. Of course it was a blast to film/experience... but also the edit was a bear 😆
Love this story, i just finished training my first duck and it’s the best thing ever to have someone to hunt with
Thanks! Really appreciate it. Totally agree

Two questions. Has Riggins got a duck? And are you in NC? Shoot me a message. This will happen by the grace of god
