- The LP rip of this legendary recording has significantly better sound quality than what's available online. Feinberg's magical playing soars without the excessive filtering.
This is one of the most magical piano recordings ever made.
So refreshing to hear Bach played on a piano without concern for being historically “correct,” or trying to imitate a harpsichord. Feinberg never forgets to make beautifully singing music-and winds up making the most correct interpretation of the WTC to my ears.
He brings out the hidden romance in what is otherwise a 'study' prelude in no 1
Kinda have to agree.
BACH WAS A ROMANTIC, GODAMM !!! ALL GERMANS ARE ROMANTIC !!! ALL OF THEM !!
Feinberg was s genius, his interpretation of the WTC Books 1 + 2 is a precious treasure.
Arguably the most poetic recording of WTC 1
True! without forgetting Edwin Fisher...
In my youth, the summer I struggled to pass the enroll exams at the musical college I used to listen to LPs with WTC rendered by S. Feinberg which I believed was the only true interpreter of Bach to humanly understanding. Still the same way of feeling.
What a beautiful comment!
Feinberg and Landowska - same age...same class..... Feinbergs voicing is .... simply DEVINE!
This is such wonderfully human, honest playing.
What a beautiful discovery of wonderful Well-Tempered interpretation! Thank you.
MAGIC from the earliest notes on
First heard (was dazzled by) this LP at the old U.of Toronto music library, about 45 years ago. Your LPs ARE in great shape.
For me no better recording of the WTC! Feinberg at his best here.
Thank you for this recording. I have just fallen in love with this genius.
Wonderful, so imaginative and fluid.
Amazing sound and performance!
Thanks so much for this magistrial rendition of the WTC
WOW incredible transfer
The feeling of hearing these played by him hits different when you've played some of them before... I will never hear them the same.
The man was such a poet!
Thank you so much!
May we hope that you will also post the LP transfer of Book 2?
Phenomenal musician!
ADGO, thank you so much.
Now, bless the heart of those who publicized this jewel. My God, it is Sebastian himself playing that keyboard. Never have I heard such intimacy with the music of Bach. Comparable, perhaps, to Cortot playing Chopin, or Schnabel playing Beethoven...but surely, this is a desert island record. No two ways about it. Thank you for posting it!!!!!!!!!!!
Immense thanks for sharing this magnificent rendition of the WTC.
Une absolue merveille.
This is wonderful. You should find and rip Book 2!
Thanks a lot for this transfer, the sound dynamics are in their place. Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to come by 3 of the records form the 6 LP set on the old Melodiya label (in fact, it's MK on the label, while the logo is a torch) and bought them instantly. Yours are in a better shape. This is fantastic!
Wonderful. Thank you.
Thanks so much for this!!!! Amazing.
This is truly lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely amazing
Celestiale interpretazione. Bravo!
¡Maravillosa interpretación! Sentimiento y técnica.
Ha! Someone who doesn't bang the hell out of the second prelude. I like this interpretation
This, and the Richter recordings. Gold.
Absolutely!!
that is so good
Thank you.
I like! May be to mach soul for this work.
It is a form of revelation…
I like Book2 too!
Miraculous.
Great set ! thank you. Bechstein ?
Not steynway, clearly!
Bachstein
@@sasha42196 Yes probably Bechstein(clarity and singing low medium.

Is Dinu Lippati sitting beside Samuil Feinberg!
Cela nous changerait des platitudes de quelques pianistes de 15° zone que l'on trouve ici;

Way better than Richter, better than almost everyone else, maybe even the best...
Really?
That Dark forces suppressed this man's ability to be known throughout the world is a travesty. He was a first rate composer and his music has been championed by Marc-Andre Hamlin the brilliant Canadian pianist.

Só perde para Sviatoslav Richter...
Nice but not quite the otherworld of Gould
Gould's "otherworld" could be eccentric, idiosyncratic, and neurotic to boot. Let's not measure all interpretations by one yardstick.
I would argue that JSB would applaud Gould’s “neurotic “
mastery of his keyboard works
@@darylnoble5711 Not necessarily. From what we can read about his personality, he was quite calm and sociable (as written by Carl Ludwig Hilgenfeldt in 1850).
@@michaelgoutman681 There was however a disquieting incident when JSB allegedly ended up in jail for provoking a scrum while directing his ensemble in rehearsal. I find this in no way to be derogatory but rather a rousing way to express impatience with the way the rehearsal was going perhaps
@@darylnoble5711 I would too, but I hesitate to rank players that have their own original interpretations, as both Gould and this one does. They each reveal something new and important. We're lucky to have all the choices we do today; what we like is a matter of taste.
