I love these. I think these are a truer 2022 list since you have seen more games and it can also show which games you grew tired of after a couple more plays or have grown on you (the sought after evergreen titles)
I love this idea of going back and re-ranking games after having more time with them and/or getting to play more games from a certain year. My top 10 of 2022 would be: 10. Parks: Wildlife 9. Twilight Inscription 8. The Wolves 7. Everdell: Newleaf 6. Planet Unknown 5. Canvas: Reflections 4. Terracotta Army 3. Weather Machine 2. Sabika 1. Wayfarers of the South Tigris (my first Shem game and this has become a top ten all-time)
Only played your top two. Vladimír Suchý is probably my favourite game author, and I loved Woodcraft after my first few plays, so I bought it immediately. But then this year there were so many good games that stole attention from Woodcraft that I forgot how to play it and it just stayed on the shelf. I’m not sure whether I’m going to keep it or pass it on for someone else to get the joy out of it that I did. 🤷♂️ Wayfarers is an excellent game and I absolutely love it! Not sure everyone is as jazzed about it as I am but I bring it to the table whenever I can. Excited to try Scholars!
Wow for Long Shot, Dorf Romantik, Paint the Roses and Woodcraft, you’ve convinced me in this video that I’d probably like them more than I thought. Woodcraft sounds so fun but I was staying away because it was listed as quite a heavy game.
Can you guys do variations of games ( for example clue has a 2 player variation now, but can you show us how ro play certain games like clue conspiracy with 2 players) please. I wanna play clue conspiracy with 2 people but how many cards do we each need? How ro make sure the game plays well and we both have the opportunity to correctly guess the killer, weapon and where. Tha k you!!! You guys are great bought a ton of games just from this channel for me and the wife!!!
Brother Murph! New War of The Ring expansion, Kings of Middle Earth is out! This would be the perfect time to replay war of the ring and with some or all of the expansions!
We have been planning on doing another play through with expansions so we’ll have to add this one as well. We’ll do it sometime in the new year hopefully!
this was such a banger list! I love all of these games, however, I understand Flamecraft not being here because of how light it is, but "HEAT: PEDAL TO THE METAL" DIDN'T MAKE IT ! ? why😢 ?
They were just too many things to choose from! We need to explore heat more though that’s for sure. We still have only played the most basic version of the game which is not doing it its full justice.
@@TheBrothersMurph that is an absolute very valid and fair point, the basic version of the game is pretty simple, amd in and of itself MAYBE wouldn't merit being in a year's top 10, but like you said, once you incorporate the other modules/variants to increase the complexity, it absolutely get much bettet :) ! I read somewhere they are coming out with an expansion on 2024 🤤
I bought Woodcraft a couple months ago. I have been trying to wrap my head around it. I think I may need someone to teach it to me. The one thing I hate about it is the absolute absence of any kind of insert. Seriously, for the price you pay for this game, they can't even put in ziplock bags? It's literally in a plain box with nothing to organize it. Fortunately, my inserts to organize the game comes in today.
I don't play enough new games to have a top 10 however my top 5 for 2022 looks like 5. Flamecraft 4. First Rat 3. Planted 2. Skymines 1. Woodcraft The 3 games of 2022 I really didn't care for 3. Dice Realms 2. Paint the Roses 1. Terracotta Army
I havent played any of these games and the only one that intrigues me a bit is Woodcrafters because i love games with dice. But it looks very fiddly and a table hog.
Turns out, I have played exactly two 2022 games lol. Of those two, Guild of Merchant Explorers was my favorite to play. (Lofoten was the other game--which is also a fun one!) I think I need to check out that South Tigris game. I appreciate that it doesn't look quite as sprawling as some of those other midweight games reviewers praise (maybe it's dumb, but games being big is just a huge turn-off for me).
I don't think folks are praising stuff because games are large per se. at least folks we know, and we are actively searching out smaller footprint games all the time haha
@@TheBrothersMurph Totally! And I get that people aren't praising them because of the largeness. I love complex games, too! I guess I just have low fiddliness tolerance/am spacey and don't have such a large table.
“Village Rails” has similarities to “Village Green” which is also an Osprey game and enjoyable. Now I want “Village Rails”! Is it now readily available in the U.S.? ( Go 49ers!)
Looooove the retrospective - really helps show the games that had the staying power 😊
I love these. I think these are a truer 2022 list since you have seen more games and it can also show which games you grew tired of after a couple more plays or have grown on you (the sought after evergreen titles)
I hadn't heard of paint the roses, thanks for pointing that one out!
I played an entire game of longshot where number 8 didn't move at all, before a horse won the race. It got taken over at the starting line
I guess they have long odds of winning for a reason. Someone needed to take the emergency brake off that horse before the race!
Excellent list. I’ve just ordered village trails and paint the roses
Noice!
I am getting Revive for Christmas, so I can't wait! Thanks for the list.
Cheers! Hope you enjoy!
Fun idea for a list! Wonderland’s War is my second most wanted to play. Gotta get a play of that in
They're makin a list
They're checkin it twice

Frohe Weihnachten Boardgamebox🌲🚂❄️
I've brought Beer & Bread for Christmas for my husband, so I'm looking forward to that 😊
Ooooh awesome!

It definitely is a brain burning one so we like folks to know that but we feel it’s worth it! Good kinda burn

Watching 🎉
SSP is the best game of 2022. I've played easily 60 games of this and it gets better with each play. Try it on BGA. Easily a top 10 game for me.
Clank catacombs, Tiletum (great art), First Rat

The 3 games of 2022 I really didn't care for
3. Dice Realms
2. Paint the Roses
1. Terracotta Army
Right on right on!
awesome winner! mine too :)
wahoo!
I enjoy your videos, and admire your energy. What are you on? Coffee? Mountain Dew?
Coffee and desperation all day!
I havent played any of these games and the only one that intrigues me a bit is Woodcrafters because i love games with dice. But it looks very fiddly and a table hog.
I thought for sure Clank Catacombs would be on this list.
I knowwwwww. It is a great one for sure
Village Rails reminds me of Verdant
Right on!
Making a list
Checking it twice...
I wonder which games on the original list fell off, which ones are new in this reranked list.
Peep the old video :) we put the link the description of this video

Go Niners!! I'd imagine it's around by now but we aren't 100% sure!!
husks
Where's Oathsworn? Lol
Where indeed
Very cool concept to rerank games from last year, especially with so many releases! I really want to like Revive but the art is a real turn-off...
ah dang always a bummer when a game doesn't work for whatever reason but hey at least we have 1000's more to choose from :)
