- DIY PRESSURE CANNED BACON
There’s nothing like opening a jar of bacon and using it without the need to cook it. No hassle of a greasy splattered mess.
How would you use canned bacon?

I'm glad to find you! I've been canning bacon for a year and it's perfect to use in recipes! I love that it also gives you some bacon grease to cook with later. Glad to see you doing and teaching the rebel way!
Thank you!
What band canner did you get? Cost?
Brand
This is only 2nd time I've heard of canned 🥓 bacon 🤔 this is fantastic. Great how to.. and looks really easy. Thank you very much 😄
Thanks for watching
I have canned bits and pieces by raw packing, but for me, I prefer to par cook the bacon in the oven or air fryer. Then lay it out on parchment and pressure can. I find the end product is so much better. I of course save all the wonderful lard too. ❤️
As a bacon lover, I really appreciated this practical share. The bacon will keep so nicely this way and maintain its delicious flavour. Thanks for sharing each step of the way so carefully and easy to follow so others can try. Great share 😀🌻
Thank you so much for saying so. I appreciate the complements.❤
Great sharing bacon preserved, thank you. Have a wonderful day
Thank you! You too!❤
Dorene- this is awesome. I didn’t know you could can bacon. How long does it last on the shelf? It looks like you have really perfected how much can fit in each jar and exactly how to fold the paper. So excited to learn some of your techniques for long term storage. Thanks for sharing! -Cady
Thank you Cady- It should last 5 years on the shelf if stored properly. It's one of my favorite things to can. It eliminates the greasy spattering mess. My husband eats bacon every day for breakfast. only 3 half pieces, so the pints work out best for us instead of the quartz. It's great for when you find a sale and you want to keep from loading up the feezer.
Hey Dorene. This is something new to me but I enjoyed watching. Happy to be a new Doreniac. 👍🏻
Thanks for coming and being a Doreniac! I'm new to your channel and will be watching more of your videos this week.
That’s such a wonderful way of canning bacons 😊
Thank you for watching. I've been enjoying your channel and will be working on an appropriate shout out.
Great job! I like that you left it raw. I'd love to watch another video of you opening and cooking it! I think Johnny waa excited about bacon! 😁❤
Yes, I promised him we would do the video when I used the canned bacon in the Beef Wellington video.

Hello, my dear Dorene,
I appreciate the calm you radiate while cooking, which inevitably leads to a kind of deep relaxation, just beautiful. I wish you continued success and that you continue to delight us with many great cooking videos. I think the method of preserving bacon is just sensational and I will try it again here in Bavaria this week, thank you very much for the recipe!😋👏👍
Best regards from Germany and from me, Da Wolfe😁👨🍳
Thank you so much, and thanks for visiting my channel. Stay safe and warm❤
Have to say, you have the most “clear how to” on canning bacon video! I’ve canned bacon know for a few years but never got the roll up right😂
Thank you for saying so!
I have free standing freezer with many draws and shelfs and everything go to freezer. I would be not go with preserving bacon, but I love to eat. But both of you did great work with it 🏵
Thanks! Living in California I'm worried about the grid. I had and still have lots of meat in the freezer. If something happened, I would lose most or all of it and had to find a different way to preserve. I will still have some in the freezer, but not like I've had before. We pressure canned 20 lbs of ground beef last week too. I have that video coming out in the next day or so. Do you experience many power outages where you are?☺
This’s amazing friend and so lovely to see both of you do the cooking with love God bless your home 👍❤️
Thank you so much❤
@@DorenesFoodPrepResource you welcome 🙏
As a bacon enthusiast, I greatly loved this! I had no clue you were capable of such feats! I adore discovering new things!🤗🤗
Yay! Thank you!❤
Wow! This procedure to preserve Canning Bacon is so excellent.
Nicely prepared. Unique presentation.
Thank you so much❤
I loooove this intro! Really enjoyed watching this video! Will be back for more of your amazing content.
Thank you so much!! I'll be watching your videos later today!☺
I have a pressure canner but it doesnt have the little dial thingy and i havent used it ever and i believe ive had it for over two years 😬I am nervous about using it lol Isnt it so much fun when the hubby is in the kitchen doing the things lol love that he is there so awesome
Do you know what type of canner it is? perhaps you can order the part. I would suggest purchasing the weights instead though, because you're supposed to get the dial recalibrated annually. With the weights, you don't use the dial.
We enjoyed seeing the process, Dorene and Johnny. Love bacon and had no idea you could do this! Love learning something new.
Glad you enjoyed it we had fun filming it. Watching your desert hike right now.☺
This is Amazing! I didn't know you could can bacon but now I'm going to have to try this. I love this💞👍🏻
I'll be uploading frying up the canned bacon today or tomorrow as a short video.😊
Did not know you can can bacon and to wrap it in wax paper, very interesting. wow i learn something new everyday from so many wonderful channels.
Thanks for watching Tarsha, its parchment paper, not wax paper.
@@DorenesFoodPrepResource I’m sorry my mind was saying type parchment but my fingers did the opposite. Enjoyed the video 😊
I had no idea you could can baccon. This is awesome! 😊

i had no idea canning bacon
thanks for sharing ❤👍
Thanks for watching!
I am blessed to have found you!! I just did a search for preserving Bacon, and here you appeared. I will try to look and see if i ca fid more of your awesome videos. Is there a reason you do not par cook it? I will use pints as we are an old couple LOL and could not use it up fast enough. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This is my 1st year of ever pressure cooking, I have always used Hot bats methods. I had never done meat's. I should have started this before I retired.
I would not par cook the bacon, once you pressure cook the bacon it becomes fairly fragile. The thicker cut bacon works best pressure canning. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I'm taking a break from posting YTs due to health issues, but will be back soon. Good luck with canning, I will always pressure can especially meats. ❤
Wow! Never heard of can bacon before. Thanks for sharing! 🥓🥓🥓😋😋
My pleasure 😊
Wow that is amazing Ma'am canning bacon that is great. Nice sharing i fullywatch your video and full support to you. Have a nice day...

Hi Dorene, new friend Millionaire Paul here. Loving your channel - I'm already one of those people who has a grab bag in the house and lots of flour stored away! :)
Thanks and welcome Paul! I'm going to be enjoying your channel.
Ah, fond memories! My wife & I have canned turkey, beef & stock for years but we've never tried bacon. Probably because we eat it too fast. LOL. I love this. Thanks for sharing.
Stocks are the best! I haven't canned too many of those. Take care.
Bacon in a can?? Sounds interesting and you have peeked my interest. Here to learn

Thank you so much😊
I'm excited to can bacon! I'm not sure if it was mentioned of how long you should pressure can the Pint or Quart size jars of bacon. How long is the shelf life?
Pint is 75 minutes, Quartz 90 minutes. Should stay on the shelf for a year or two.
Love these two 😂❤
❤Thank you🤗
You are so welcome Linda!
very good videos. I have watched it and really enjoyed it...
Glad you enjoyed it!
Luv my presto! I've never canned bacon before, like you did with the paper! Thanks! Will before long! Shelf life?
Should last a couple of years
Very informative! Thanks for sharing
My pleasure Sherry!
Great video I didn't know you could pressure Cann bacon
It's not an approved method, but folks have been doing for decades. I've never had a problem with it.
Wow, that is a LOT of bacon. After watching the video I tried to think about how much bacon I've eaten in the past year. To my surprise, I realized I hadn't eaten any at all. I love bacon also. I will have to get some next time I go to the store and use it in the next batch of soup I make. Maybe a Navy bean soup.
I love bacon it would never make it to a jar as soon as we buy it we cook it love so much yummy thanks for sharing
You are so welcome❤
It’s a good thing in your shelf, we know prices are getting nuts. I call it free insurance
i am amazed by this.

Wow canning bacon 🥓 no way this is amazing my friend 👏
Thank you so much 👍
… hi Dorene, … do you have a link to the video of the 20lbs. Of hamburger meat you canned ? Thanks.
I did not upload a video on hamburger, but it's the same process as sausage. I did a short video on how to can sausage. You brown the hamburger, drain as much fat as possible. Then fill jars add water or stock leaving an inch headspace at the top, then pressure can for 75 minutes for pints and 90 minutes for quartz.
Now this is a new one for me to see ~ canning bacon 👀
Love canning bacon!
