    What you need to ask is where the $25 dollar bait comes from. Many lures in fact 90% or more come from China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and other places. Look close at packaging and see for yourself. If you want, American made lures better start learning to make your own. Most fly tying materials you buy come from the FarEast as well. If you buy a $5 dollar bait and it works, you don’t have to make any excuse for buying it to me. The question is why the same thing costs $25 dollars with a different brand name. The answer is complicated at best.

    The best lures are the ones that actually catch fish, regardless of where they come from or how much they cost.

      I'm also a fan of Bearking. I've bought several of their jerkbaits and been very happy. I do test them in water and might add some sticky lead tape (Amazon) to adjust the performance. Yes the detail and workmanship on the Megabass are superb but are they 5 times better or catch 5 times more fish? Now if you want a status lure, that's a different story...

      100% agree with Bearking! Got 6 of their suspending jerkbaits! -- until some jerks stole all but one of them when they stole nearly all of my lures from my tackle bag! Another great company that I always have had nothing but awesome lures from is Hunthouse. They even put VMC hooks in all of their lures!

    Yep, gotten a similar version on Aliexpress. Was hit/miss but cost me about the same as yours. Simple arithmetic: $5 is better than $25. Made a few adjustments on mine & works great. Good video!
    Dumb question: why do your videos now say they're not for children? Always seen your videos as appropriate for kids of all ages!

    • @capitolbassfishing
      @capitolbassfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      good question, if you search COPPA on youtube youll find some new rules related to children and data collection. By me marking my videos as "not intended" for children is just something I am doing to clarify that my channel is not "targeting" kids its a sports channel...in my opinion. It really has nothing to do with being "clean" and rated G. Again, search COPPA and youll see.

    I think many of the "Made in the USA" products are also made in China! Change the labels and add on a thing or two to the products and it can be marketed as "Made in the USA!" Based on my experience, I am convinced that the reason so many of the lures I bought from Aliexpress work so similar to the original is because they are made from the same factories that made the "counterfeits!" Also, the original Whopper Plopper is also made in China! The imitation Whopper Ploppers that I bought from Aliexpress are not only identical to the original in looks, but they actually work better! They make a lot more splash than the original Whopper Ploppers and you can get them to plop and splash more water at a slower retrieve!
    I think the Chinese have improved upon the original Whopper Plopper with their imitations! The ones I bought are from a company called "HuntHouse." I have bought over a dozen different styles of lures from that company simply because of the high quality of their lures and they put VMC hooks on all of the lures that I've bought from them!
    I have since bought over 25 HuntHouse Whopper Ploppers from Aliexpress since the first 4 that I bought from that company a few years ago, both for myself and as Christmas gifts! You'll get even better prices if you buy them during Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I paid approximately $2.60 a piece for the 130 size Whopper Ploppers that I bought two years ago on the Black Friday sale. The original usually went for $17-$18!
    I have also bought many Chinese lures that are originally engineered by the Chinese themselves and they also work awesomely! These days I get the vast majority of lures from Aliexpress simply because I can't afford the lures that are being sold at American stores! Now I have so many awesome lures in my arsenal that I can basically target any fish species I want! All thanks to Aliexpress for making those lures affordable!

  • @kweeks10045
    @kweeks10045 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The biggest difference is sound, by my testing. I’ve tried several imitations along side the real Vision 110. Same day/same retrieve/same color/etc. The Megabass caught 2/1 compared to the knock-off. The material thickness and even paint thickness make a difference, not to mention the tungsten versus less expensive rattles. I spoke with an engineer that did independent testing for a couple of high end lure manufacturers. The sound is something that is almost impossible to duplicate, which is why lures like the Megabass are so expensive. The R&D and materials are astronomical compared to knock-offs. I’m not associated with or sponsored by any tackle manufacturers. But, I can tell you, that in most cases, high end lures are more expensive for a reason.

    • @capitolbassfishing
      @capitolbassfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      kweeks10045 you’re correct, agree. I have like 2-3 mega and 5 of the others. They are different.

    • @grandwonder5858
      @grandwonder5858 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've caught so many more fish with the "imitations" than the original simply because the imitations I bought are usually 7 times cheaper than the original and since they are so much cheaper I'm not afraid to fish the imitations where the fish like to hide --- rocky riprap, fallen trees, pier pilings, snaggy areas that have lots of old fishing lines hanging on the bottom, ets!
      After I lost the original Megabass lure to a sunken tree, I have since only fish the imitation versions and you know what? Every time I talked to people who used expensive lures, such as Megabass, I found that I actually caught a lot more fish than them! I think it is simply because I am not afraid to lose a cheap lure and I fish in snaggy areas where the fish like to hide!

      Joe Simpson; well, even Japanese companies can and do like US companies for years and make a bunch of lures in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. And people who shout the loudest about “Buy American,” are buying complies of American lures that were designed by someone else 40-50 years ago and they went to China to have lures made - AND then spent $100K on advertising. However, Megabass is one of the prime Japanese tackle companies.
