its not the fact that its hard, its the fact that they have no money to spend building something like this. they are just starting to THINK about launching the SLS, where, it can only go as far as Mars.
ZeGamingCuber Yes, you are right. Fuel in KSP drains faster, the engines are heavier, the tanks are heavier, the capsules are heavier. So, no, not something this ridiculous, but my point of the money problem is why we haven't gone to any other celestial body other than the moon yet. That stuff still cost LOTS of money, even if it doesn't have to be as big as this monstrosity.
I think he's talking about trump funding nuclear engines or something they leave radioactive waste behind so it's better to use ion drives or maybe even em drives if the tech gets perfected
A few things to add: *Such a mission profile takes 6 earth years to reach pluto, not 60, therefore no need to freeze-dry the spacemen. *You can simply do an upward launch to Charon from Pluto, thanks to mutual tidal locking of Pluto and Charon.
5:20 The shape of the stasis chambers is very similar to the ones used by the Marines aboard the Sulaco in "Aliens" (1986). Even more, the opening/closing mechanism is nearly the same, which can be seen at 14:29.
To me, the smaller the moons get, the more frightening they look, particularly the ones that do not have enough mass to build a spheric shape. Furthermore, the less gravity, the more difficult the movements get for the kerbal astronauts. They must be careful to not fly away into space, as shown on the asteroids in the "Armageddon" movie.
Cryo sleep, most efficient way to get to distant worlds, but artificial gravity would be a necessity or else you would be a boneless blob after 20 years. But it’s KSP, so that doesn’t matter.
That is the most kerbal rocket the world has ever seen. You took the KSP motto of "when in doubt, add boosters" to a whole new level.
bruh this is nothing it's a good video, but this video embraces the true kerbal way: th-cam.com/video/F92l2s_bO-k/w-d-xo.html

Imagine spending like 10 years going to one of the most interesting planets there is, only to plant a flag and stay there for roughly 12 seconds.
Eh it’s not that bad they were frozen the entire trip so it probably felt like the equivalent to a moon trip for them
And they didn't even bring back a T-shirt !

115 Years?
That's not bad at all.
helloo
what do you mean "helloo"?
I know him from the Sinking Simulator discord
oh, nvm.
115 years? it took new horizons to get to Pluto in almost 10 years...
Onion staging: for when asparagus isn't enough!
Isn't onion staging less effective than asparagus?
Mighty Doge That is true, but onion allows for less fuel line complexity/less rapid staging.
I thought there was a combination of onion and waffle staging in there.
asperger staging
That launch was amazing, shame there was nobody left on earth to see it after you made it rain explosions.
"FINALLY! I GET SOME LOVE!"
-Pluto 2020
Fun fact: it took new Horizons 9.5 year to get to Pluto.
2:28
Look, that's not an explosion...
It's just an unscheduled disassembly
*Scheduled
Lol
"Realism"
kerbals don't need food and water to survive and also are immune to all kinds of radiation.
Also, kerbal-developed rocket parts are 100% reliable, and don't suffer from any malfunctions. *rocket parts, != rockets themselves*

porkypine they don't have to build something this crazy, as I'm pretty sure fuel drains much quicker in KSP than it does IRL.

Yes, I'm sorry for the misconception, I meant manned missions to other moons and planets.
Pluto The Capitalist, its not that its hard, its just that NASA only has time to visit REAL planets😋
What the fuck NASA, why aren't we funding this?
Because it would need a shitton of funding.
Admiral Doge because we have realism overhaul installed and i bet launching this rocket would cause mass extinction
and not to mention the problem of used boosters falling from the sky

Flight engineer or mechjeb. Mechjeb is better tho
If cryosleep were possible, such a journey would cost much less. But when you are back on the earth, you may be younger than your children.
You should have named the mission/ship Pinocchio.
Well, if we ever do get around to doing this I'm sure someone will dig through the archives and find this - and the world will have a big laugh!
I really love the fact that you are abusing all of the kerbals that you take out of the craft
holy shit the amount of boosters I was not expecting
Fun Fact: Pluto is actually part of a binary system with Charon, they are also tidally locked to each other.
This game taught me a lot of things.. Delta V and some shit
You gotta fear and loathe it at the same time :P

Wait many thousand years and see wheather changes to habitable. New Horzen visit well proved " too cold ".
Could you imagine coming back to Earth after all that time? The world would be so much different.
yeah, its somewhat like prisoners coming out of a long term sentence, so much is changed, they don't know the world anymore.
Instructions unclear, staging caused explosive to rain down on the launchpad
You forgot to mention the invisible re-usable jacks to hold the lander up straight on several of the landings. xD

Pluto’s moon Charon is 4 km bigger than kerbin I think
not sure which was colder, those cryo-freeze pods or pluto's surface.
