CDPs, or customer data platforms, and DMPs, or data management platforms, both regard collecting customer data, overlap in capabilities, and even sounds similar - but they’re two separate technologies with different purposes. Primarily, CDPs handle in-house data from company websites, social media, emails, and more. DMPs concern collecting external data, usually second and third-party data bought for the sales funnel.
