The place we always bought slap Chips from Paulies on linksfield rd and first ave in Edenvale. Tastes fantastic.
Love Gregory’s! Nothing better than their slap chips, milkshakes and coffee... don’t get me started on the rest of their menu! Local is definitely better and who’s not for chappies for change ? 🤣
"Ah beg yours by rawbone malan" my father bought a copy in 1980s ish. I read it cover to cover. My best was the ticket inspector asking for "oligarchies" or alli kaartjies... There was another book "the rabbit in the thorn tree" about south african urban legends. The lead story was about the move from Barclays to FNB.
My special Pozi for slap chips was in Evander. In the 80s I was in aTechnical College there, during our lunch break we used to go to a nearby small Portugese take away shop that sold Slap Chips. The Owner topped the chips with tomato and chilli ketchup it was an epic combination I can still taste it in my mind all these years later. I think the chilli may have been peri peri. I have had the good fortune to eat Peri Peri chicken in Portugal washed down with on cask ice cold Super Bock beer. Life is good
OMG, I'm salivating ... this is my absolute favourite "junk food", especially on road trips!
