Good review. Nice to see I'm not the only one who had problems with the chin Strap not lining up on your chin. I tried and tried to get it to center up to no avail - finally cut it off and replaced with an ACH chin strap. You'd think for the money spent, they would have better QC?

It's a fairly common issue unfortunately from what I've heard. Nice to know I'm not the only one that had to modify mine. I agree that for the price and given the reputation Crye I expected a lot better. That being said I never contacted them about it or anything so who knows if their customer service would have taken care of the problem or not.

It's a nice additional option to have in the tool kit for sure especially if you're not required to have a helmet.

I prefer the ops core skull crusher with rails but thats just me and they all give headaches

That's another one I haven't really messed with much. It's like a hybrid between a bump helmet and a skull crusher. Do you find it packs down well and do you prefer it over a traditional bump helmet?

@tfirearms okay so before you decide not to read all of this because it's too long, first off the thing is comfortable and more of what I'd call a NV harness. The other thing is that people love rails... you can throw them on an hhv helmet like they STILL do for anything they sell less than 800 bucks not including tax and im a dealer for sarkar tactical in my spare time and them and many other companies for much less with dupont kevlar, sorry for the rant lol other than this thing hold thermal and NV better than bump right out of the box and something in sme just feels like a side profile view of basically just your head in adark background would be a freaking perfect thumbnail not shre what id titl it but i think "is the ops core skull crusher (harness better than a bump helmet?) lol my bad now that im done telling you hoe to to do your job like a dick 😅 heres been my experience btw in case you haven't noticed im ocd as hell about this stuff and not in a nerdy way... I mske and have done it lol and should probably start my own channel now that am even laminating nylon and laser cutting my own curv and tegris but here I go, sorry for the long message but I hope it helps thats and honestly that's the perfect questions in my opinion i saw another comment you replied back to someone and you were absolutely coreect and very kind saying something like this is an amazing option ALMOST all around compared to a bunp helmet especially with the breathability which is even more than the nightcap and 6 other guys told me the same about theirs, with that said your giving up that bunp protection and ive seen bump helmets probably save more lives than ballistic helmets because we're ALL goddamn stupid at some point in our lives no matter how "high speed" we got in rank or felt inside... or even just cicillians who are sometimes even just as trained if not better if they have the time amd money. All people are dumb at times, and guns alone are heavy, so in case your buddy trips under nods and slams the back of your head with his rifle cause shit happens. which that inparticular isnt uncommon for beginners the way my team worked was simple, 7 man team 6 men training one on that catwalk, rollaway wallsa and stairs and my buddy and i rigged up scaffolding to nudge the bufget our way like we met them halfway or something when it was cake work. Sorry lol making this long but we ended uo making 2 more stair switchback rollaway stair cases EXPENSIVE! (not our money)😁 what we decided was ducking should aprt of our course that's thrown in by the 7th man or 8th man of we had a ride along type deal but the idea was have one that would make us hit the very tops of our heads because honest not many of us even broke 6 foot I'm right at 5 but it was just for awareness but not even talking about the neck thats just one small thi that made me realise... "ohhhh. this would be really hard to be not just yell "fuck" or something but also it does help your head, with that said now that I don't do that stuff I do make gear designs in general snd laser cut and as well as laminate molle and it took me a while to get the hot melt laminate adhesive but with that said the thing I hear most is PADDING! They are both gonna give you a headache if your wear them long enough but with that said the ops core crusher feels MUCH more like a structured harness with memory foam even tho the crye nightcap always has its place, the side pads for me really work well but there's a company called qore performances that use a honeycomb 3d tpu filament padding from a a company that I'm not giving the name of in case someone reads this cuz it took me forever to get that shit that's super durable and comfortable that they should have used it but the oc skull crusher is definitely the most comfortable, stable, as well as less pain in the end because you get padding at the front back and sides with the rest being straight up brethability which is amazing for me in florida and most folks I'm general, if more people used it I'd make cold weather and regular cars for em. ALSO, remember its a bit of a cage around your head in a very limited sense of the word, gibing your limited bump prtection of any kind but still chance for me or someone to custome make a polymer cage around the rails to make it a full bum or even ballistic that'd be sick... sorr lol. Anyway like i said id also hasalso RAILS!!! Dont even bother with the sentinel skull crushers their running dnb138 mesh which is 3mm of bs for head gear of any sort.
I have run panos on the oc crushers as well and of course I used wirghts but this thing does actually lock in and stay comfortable and if your not really running hard you can just un dial it a bit and I stays on when you lightly lossen it for what I cal chill mode and everything will stay on and just need to bed tightened when you stop but there's much more adjustment for comfort and fit on the crusher. Annnd I hope you get it and like it man sorry I'm so ocd about this but if you made it through I appreciate it lol... remember nobody has recently made a video on the and there's no skull crusher kids popping up in my feed right now other than this and nobody has posted the ops core skull crusher review in like 2 years. The ONLY other crusher similar to this is wilcox skull head harness FIXED and you can find it on weownthenight.com .... yes I've used it lol I prefer the ops core skull crusher because they are both harnesses more than mounts.

@@austinporter4285 Hahaha this is the tism I love. I'm hyper OCD about gear and guns and have modded a ton of my own personal stuff for exactly that reason. 100% agree with you on bump helmets, if you're doing dynamic movement especially under NVGs there is a 100% that you will hit your head on something or get a barrel across the back of the head because depth perception is off in a MOUT environment. 🤣
I really appreciate you taking the time to write all that out. I'm going to have to check the Ops Core out. I'm a Wilcox simp generally, but I was not a big fan of their harness either though the one I messed with wasn't mine so maybe sized correctly to my head it might have been better but I didn't like the bulk it had. And it didn't help at all that it looked like a special ed helmet.
On a weird side note we do custom kydex and laser engraving so I've mess around with cutting Tegris using a 30 watt fiber, but what are you using to cut laminate nylon? I tried cutting it once and with all the settings I had I couldn't get the laser to cut it at all, same with cordura. I figured it must be a C02 only kind of thing.
Also you should absolutely start a channel, I'd watch it.

@tfirearms man I really appreciate a like-minded response lol and with the laser cutting of cordura I'm pretty surprised you had no results, ive always heard that co2 works good on cordura and im for reference im only using a 22 watt diode laser and even 10 watts can cut cordura laminate when I slow things down a lot and definitely keep air assist on. With all that said I've actually never tried to laser cut cordura with a polyurethane coating on the back and there's a really good chance that's what you have and ive only lasercut uncoated cordura (pain in ass to find). I'm busy today but if im able to in the next few days I'll throw some black pu coated cordura in the cutter and I'll definitely let you know my results... its just hard for me to imagine the pu coating stopping the laser if cordura dosent but that's perplexing to say the least, you should be easily cutting. MAYBE you gotta slow it down all the way and use air assist if you didn't before but man that really should be working but even still im curious now so I'll let you know what happens with the pu coated cordura on my diode laser.

@tfirearms shit bro I was just designing some stuff and thought about the fact that some companies know some people aren't cutting anything thick so they put the wattage down but it's the input wattage and not the laser out out wattage. So what you would do is MAKE SURE of your lasers wattage and find 2 of the many standard items and what width your laser SHOULD be able to cut at max power without any BS like one example is I have the Creality falcon 2 with the 22 watt laser module and it's a great deal for me cause there's a 40 watt module I can get whenever there's sales and I have the cash I trust this laser because it is 100% a 22 watt laser at full power not more not less and theirs some BIG companies out their doing the laser input wattage thing but I just can't imagine many co2 companies doing it but it's worth checking it out. An example is my 22 watt laser can cut up to 10mm of basswood in one pass. I'd checkout exactly what your model says it should cut and test that to be sure and if it dosent than I'd return it for a refund because that's on them, IF it comes to it just make sure you tell them you've only had one chance to use it and you were very unimpressed and then you tested it to what they said it should cut and thats how you found out the lasers underpowered.
