Such a great scene. It reintroduces everyone, adds Pyro and expands Iceman, and just makes the school feel so normal. Like, the teachers are still teachers, and I miss that aspect of the X-Men.
X-Men 2 is still better than most comic book movies in the last 5 years largely bc they valued the casting and, even with so many characters, feels like a film that doesn't exist just to set up other projects.

I mean they shafted Cyclops by what, actually giving him a personality? Sure they made him into kind of an arrogant douche but atleast he had something going for him. X2, Days of Future Past, First Class, and Logan are the best X Men movies. X-Men and Last Stand are decent, the rest are forgettable and/or not very good (no one ever talks about The Wolverine)
It's kind of spooky how powerful her mind is. Imagine having a mental illness and it actually affects reality around you. That would scare the crap out of me and I wouldn't know what to do.
I understand why pyro joined magneto. He was abandoned by his family to fend for himself on the streets of New York out of fear when he discovered his mutant power for the first time. He only accepted to join Charles Xavier's school for the gifted because it meant from a free room, so he could actually have a roof over his head. The xenophobia towards mutants didn't help either. Then along comes magneto, who amplifies his very thoughts.
With this particular ability of professor X's, it got me hopeful that mutants has been in the mcu all along but he always wiped everyone's minds and freeze their minds like this, and another tech based mutants erase camera footages etc
That would actually be a semi-decent way of putting them in. The MCU has a problem where it keeps introducing crazy powerful factions that have supposedly been there the whole time and yet never had any impact on any of the previous story whatsoever. And since we the audience know it's because that faction genuinely did not exist before because they hadn't been written in, it's hard to suspend disbelief. But Xavier being constantly vigilant to erase knowledge of mutants would make a lot of sense. Especially since you wouldn't even need a tech based mutant to remove security footage. With Cerebro, Xavier could just have anyone possessing evidence of mutants destroy it. Camera footage, DNA samples, maybe a hospital blood test? Literally anything could just be destroyed and no one would ever know. Hell if Wanda or Vision were still in play perhaps either one of them detects the psychic waves sweeping across the planet (or for a more tech based option Vision detects Cerebro) and they investigate and that's the start of the MCU X-Men storyline.

I believe one of the ways to instill that fear and hate in people is to have the real civil war storyline unfold with a mutant blowing up the school, I think nuke was a mutant right? And that way people are not only anti supes but more anti of a mutant (i.e people who grew up with inherent abilities). And focus the hate on the mutant gene since they don't want these mutant genes to keep spreading through reproduction. And not all mutants want to be superheroes, they're just normal people who grew up with powers or mutation

Maybe if the movies hadn't given Jean and Logan 5 times the screen time that Jean and Scott had, more people would feel the same way. I think this was a nice scene, but there wasn't enough of them. They did not have one conversation in the first movie while Jean and Logan had 3 or 4. I remember saying this in 2000. When they make Spider Man movie do you think they will do that with Peter and MJ? When they make the FF movie will they do that with Reed and Sue? When they make the Hulk movie will they do that with Bruce and Betty? Well, they made all those movies and damn straight they didn't do it.
There relationship is fine, but this movie showed a lot of problems that would reflect in the third movie. The first movie did a great job establishing Scott and James relationship, especially the tension between Scott and Logan. As much as I like this movie, my biggest problem is how they handled cyclops. He's only in the movie for like four scenes. Maybe five. And after the first two scenes he's in, you don't see him until the last 40 minutes of the movie and he's being mind controlled. It's just like what happened with the avengers when Hawkeye was only in the movie for like 20 minutes before the movie was over when he was not being mind controlled.
This scene is so similar to a mental illness I have been dealing with this past year called paranoid schizophrenia. The way everyone is looking at her and in my experience instead of me reading peoples minds I just hear and see people constantly talking shit about me and mean mugging me. It’s such a hellish mental illness but I’ve been taking medication for it and it’s been working good for me the last few weeks. So hopefully the medicine keeps working so I can have some peace of mind

I used to think this was as a teenager. But now, in my 30s, I've realized it doesn't matter about ppls opinions. Their opinions don't pay my bills or sign my checks. Everyone has flaws. Life is too short to worry about other ppls opinions. Most of the time, we overthink scenarios that don't exist.

Features two particular characters with certain fates to come There's Jean, whose power gradually increases, and who sacrifices herself to save the X-Men and supposedly dies... Then there's Pyro, who betrays the X-Men and joins Magneto, after seeing the worst humanity had to offer
The second part of this scene would look like right scene for Stan Lee to make cameo appearance in, if he was able to do so. I enjoy it where everyone Professor X freezes every ordinary person, leaving the mutants be able move about the museum.

What an absolutely beautiful way to introduce the main conflict. We start the movie with an incredible action sequence using a beloved mutant with gorgeous prosthetics and practical effects and then we get to here where mutant children are trying to live a normal life. These seemingly small mutants with little impact to the world are presented with sensational and fabricated news that they are the world’s enemy. A literal attack on the white house orchestrated by a man so devoted to destroying mutant kind, he’d go so far as to use them to push his narrative. It’s so beautiful and hits so close to home. I can’t even comprehend the irony of comic geeks not connecting the dots to the plight of the lgbt community. One of my favorite films of all time for good reason.

0:33 0:35 idk how or what it represents but you can hear Logan yelling “NO” and Rouge saying “They’re gonna kill him” which was dialogue during the home invasion I’ve always been curious about it
i love how you can hear logan scream in her head. that scream was from further on in the movie, letting the viewer think that maybe she can even see into the future

I like this movie they really nailed it, Pyro didn't wanna respect Charles Xavior from showing off, and you shouldn't even smoke at all says it to the sign "No Smoking" and he smoked anyway
Not one mention of the camera panning over the frozen humans, then over the also-frozen cavemen, which encapsulates humanity's fear of the mutants in just a few seconds?

What an absolutely beautiful way to introduce the main conflict. We start the movie with an incredible action sequence using a beloved mutant with gorgeous prosthetics and practical effects and then we get to here where mutant children are trying to live a normal life.
These seemingly small mutants with little impact to the world are presented with sensational and fabricated news that they are the world’s enemy. A literal attack on the white house orchestrated by a man so devoted to destroying mutant kind, he’d go so far as to use them to push his narrative.
It’s so beautiful and hits so close to home. I can’t even comprehend the irony of comic geeks not connecting the dots to the plight of the lgbt community.
One of my favorite films of all time for good reason.

These movies has their problems, vut they really captured the teenage dynamics authentically. Would be cool if we had gotten a teen drama series w/ this same cast rather then the later movies that threw whatever stuck at the wall
