Skill-based matchmaking in casual game modes has been a persistent issue that continues to undermine the casual gaming experience. If developers have already introduced Ranked or Competitive modes, why force SBMM in casual lobbies too? Casual play should be about relaxing, enjoying the game, and facing a variety of skill levels-not being thrown into high-stakes matches every time. I started gaming years ago with COD4 and moved on to MW2, where I regularly got nukes on dedicated servers-not because I was "sweating," but because of skill, aim, and map knowledge. Now, in *Black Ops 6*, it’s nearly impossible to even get a UAV, despite my aim being better than it was back then. On top of that, the desync issues are incredibly frustrating. In killcams or the Best Play at the end of a round, I often see opponents taking me down in just 4-5 bullets, while it takes me at least 7 shots with the same weapon to secure a kill. By the time I’ve landed my shots, opponents have turned around and lasered me effortlessly. This kind of inconsistency just adds to the frustration. Gaming today seems to cater to a different audience, with mechanics that feel like a constant sprint fueled by "Red Bull and adrenaline." Many of the players praising Black Ops 6 often started with recent titles and haven’t experienced the skill and strategy that defined earlier COD games. Now, games encourage hyper-aggressive playstyles and reward mechanics that favor aim-assist and enforced crossplay settings. The community has shifted away from skill-based, thoughtful gameplay to a style pushed by influencers and streamers, promoting a "sweaty" fast-engagement culture that prioritizes instant gratification. It’s disappointing to see casual gaming reduced to this. I just want to launch a game, relax, and have some fun. Instead, I’m completely outmatched, left staring at the screen questioning the skills I built over 15,000 hours in MW2. TLDR: SBMM in casual modes ruins the relaxed gaming experience-it should stay in ranked. Older COD games rewarded skill, map knowledge, and aim, but now games like Black Ops 6 are plagued by desync issues and bullet inconsistencies. Modern gaming caters to fast-paced, hyper-aggressive playstyles, fueled by influencers, which has pushed the community away from the strategic gameplay many of us loved. And yes, I know some will just say "TLDR" which only proves my point. If two minutes is too long to read, that’s exactly what’s changed about gaming culture-thanks to a TikTok-induced short attention span.
You have a great way to put it I remember bo2 days you could be 40 and 6 one game then you could be like 23 19 the next and someone on the other team could be going crazy , I remember times where people would have swarms and K-9 units against me even though I’d say I’m not trash but it’s just because they was better and it made it very fun and you never know what to expect

@@nathanboy9866 I thought so too, but how come I enjoy playing "old" games like MW2, where the playerbase consists of 90% of people that know this game in and out. @@nathanboy9866 You're absolutely right, and I completely agree. Beyond the intense, sweaty gameplay-which I can handle myself-the most frustrating part is the desync and lag compensation. It takes so much away from the gaming experience, making it, for players like me, almost unplayable at times. I often find myself questioning why I lost a gunfight where I clearly had the upper hand; it's baffling to spend two seconds trying to take down an opponent, only to be taken out in half a second. Thanks to "TheTacticalBrit," who recently validated this issue, I feel a bit of relief knowing it's not just me noticing this problem. The constant frustration with desync tends to highlight other annoyances too. It's like every match is a "what just happened?" moment, and by the third round, I'm already ready to leave the session. I hate quitting because it feels like giving up, but sometimes, to keep my sanity, I just need a fresh start in another lobby. That said, even with all these issues, I have to admit that when everything is working as it should, the game is fantastic. I actually enjoy the new movement style-it's unique, the weapons feel powerful, the sound design is immersive, and although the maps could have more flow, they're still playable. It's a shame, though, because we've had some incredible maps in the past, and the current ones feel like low effort by comparison. After Black Ops 2, I barely touched another Call of Duty, only picking up Black Ops 3 to play Zombies with friends. I moved on to Battlefield after BO2-didn’t even like it much at first, but now I’m all in, especially on BF4’s Locker map. Battlefield’s gone downhill too with BF2042, which just reinforces the trend of low effort across so many recent games. I don't understand why everyone thinks that using a VPN is a bannable offense. It's not. No where in Activation's TOS does it say you can't use a VPN to connect to their servers. And why would it be bannable? You're not getting an unfair advantage and you're not getting bot lobbies. What you ARE doing is making it harder for COD to rely on it's SBMM algorithms and instead fall back on connecction based matchmaking, like it used to be. Using geo-fencing and a VPN doesn't guarantee you will get easy lobbies; it just makes it so the game tries to connect you to servers that are closer to your location (with better ping) or whatever location you select in the VPN. In fact, the real "magic" is the geo-fencing part of this app, not even the VPN. The VPN part is optional.
