‘Bangs’ is an American term. Australians call it a fringe. Australia has very strict health rules for any personal service. Ultraviolet tanning booths are illegal and you need to be qualified with training.
Medicare is available to all citizens - the cost for this system is from taxpayers funds; it’s the best in the world and established by the Labor government. It covers basic healthcare services and hospital. If you require extra services then you have to have private health cover, eg: dental, optometrist…
While taxes are high in Australia, relatively so are wages (although under a Liberal government, only the rich should afford these things, including higher education 🤔🤨). Wages are widely covered under ‘awards’ negotiated between Unions, industries/employers. Labor supports workers to ensure they get a “fair days work for a fair days pay”. These cover strict legislation for workplace health and safety, hours, leave (annual, sick, family etc), rate of pay et cetera. At the moment under current Liberal government inflation is over 5% while wages are out 2.2% = NOT GOOD.
NEVER TIP! That’s American as well. If you get bad service either complain or don’t return. Always provide feedback when service is good 👍

Wonderful series of videos for those interested in moving to Australia or who just have an interest in how we live. I can assure you all, it is not paradise, but in general it is pretty wonderful.
One aspect of the video filled me with the 'shock of the new,' though. Putting doctors and dentist in the same category as hair dressers under 'wellness' just astounded me. It might be a generational thing or whatever, but still, the idea of the two groups being related is simply flabbergasting.

I asked for price decoloration at the hair dresser and the answer was around 550 Aud

FYI people can see a Psychologist without a referral (though involving the GP is usually a good idea). Psychiatrists require a GP referral

Hi Ruthy. Yes, but it is always recommended to go to the GP to get a mental health care plan and be able to access the medicare rebate. If you go directly without referral, you won't be able to access this. But yes, it's perhaps good clarifying that. Thanks

Cancer treatment is available through public & private hospitals in Australia- I would say the standard here for cancer care is high
