Do you ever need to do anything specific to close up the hole left by the potter's needle, or do later work stages just naturally fill it in anyway without leaving an air bubble?
It will fill in. Pressure and slip will close it up, and it’s really not wide enough to begin with to cause an air bubble. It closes almost instantly once you remove the needle.
How long approx would it take you to wedge a lump of clay that size? Also just so you know. I love your work and all the content you produce! Thank you! Cheers Em From Australia!

Generally just running a finger or thumb over the hole is enough to fill it.
