    Have you done a video of your new boat and how it’s set up etc? I’d be interested to see it

      I though about doing one but my boat really isn't that interesting. It's perfect for me but there's really nothing special going on.

      It's one of the better fall seasons for sure. Glad you finding success too.

    This fall has been an impressive season. There have been a ton of fish caught!

      It's been a fantastic fall. After the crappy spring and summer returns you would have though the fall run was going to be a stink bomb. Instead, a very pleasant surprise.

    Where is a good safe place to launch my boat in the gorge? Not new to salmon fishing but new to having my own boat. Beautiful fish! Thank you for your videos!

      You can run upriver from Chinook landing or Port of Camas/Washougal. There are a few more ramps on the Washington side. One near Beacon Rock and another near the deadline below Bonneville. The Fishery would be the preferred ramp but they setup an annual fee pass system which costs around $600 in 2023.

      I see you have very short leader to the spinner and then a barrel swivel, maybe 3” or so. Are you then attaching that to a leader off of your 360, maybe a duo snap to the barrel swivel that the spinner is on? Looks interesting.

    • @DavidPyle
      @DavidPyle  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I tie my spinners and superbaits with a barrel swivel 3-6 inches from the blade/superbait. I tie a leader to the barrel swivel... I've used duo clips in the past but I prefer to directly tie from the leader to the barrel swivel. This keeps my leader board very clean.

      Very smart idea! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, much appreciated.

      Vancouver port Friday was a sandbar, can’t believe they don’t dredge it. 7” draft on my cdory made it but was tough launching.

    It still blows my mind how few subs you have for the amount of information and content that you provide. You have helped countless internet strangers catch without so much as a thank you. Well I caught my first Columbia salmon a while back because of your info so I truly mean this, thank you!

      Thank you for the kind words. Wonderful people say hello to me every time I fish and they almost always say, "I watch your videos and Thank you for posting". That's a lot more rewarding than a huge subscriber base.

      @@DavidPyle I remember I saw you once on at the Willamette HOC during springer season and I wanted to say hi but as silly as it sounds I was sort of star struck haha. Really appreciate what you do, thank you for posting.

      I'm approachable for everyone (not a rock star). I freely share what I've seen, the gear I'm using, depth etc... Don't be shy about saying hello and asking what is working.

    Are those Folbe rod holders?
    I am wondering if the quick release style rod holders like yours help with hookups?
    There have been a few times where I get hit and wait for a few seconds, still see the rod going off, and then try to quickly get it out of the holder and when it’s in my hands the fish is gone.
    Wondering if I’m creating slack by pushing my rod back toward the fish while it comes out of the holder.

    • @DavidPyle
      @DavidPyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Folbe's have some advantages but fishermen have been using the other release style for years with success. Salmon fishing is challenging and fish come unbuttoned for many reasons so I doubt that changing rod holders will solve your issue.

    What hooks are you using on your spinners and superbaits?

      Gamikatsu Octopus 3/0.

    Nice catching as usual! We switched to the Siletz and did good. Our Siletz boat total so far is 8. We lost about that many or more. We caught them on 360 flashers and spinners and spinfish.
    Question, on leader length on why go 36" with spinfish and Brad's, but 24" with spinners? What are your thoughts on going 24" with all or going 36" with all?

    • @DavidPyle
      @DavidPyle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice work at the Siletz. I feel that brads have more drag than a spinner and therefore I use a longer leader. The more drag you have behind your 360 the more likely that it won't rotate. I'm sure that fish would bite with either leader length.
