Do you know what this episode was called?
@JONATHAN SUTCLIFFE Cheers.
Well I wanted to see the bit when they walk into the Wake at the dead person house, but still in fancy dress, lol. The clips on this episode always only show the robbery bit.
Awesome 👏 show and I live in America 🇺🇸
Sorry to hear that your died 😢 I know how it is do lose family my grandma died when me and my sister were little then few years back my great uncle Dennis and my great aunt Elizabeth died last year my grandpa died 101 he was
Thanks BBC
This went out at Christmas 1996. My dad sadly died not long after but I remember as a thirteen year old lad watching this with him and I'd never seen him laugh as much. Fantastic scene, unforgettable memories.
Wholesome comedy deserves wholesome stories like this
You are 8 years older than me, I was 6 years old then.
OFAH was great to sit around as a family and watch. I too remember watching this as an 11 year old and us all crying with laughter. Good times
I remember watching this on Christmas day at my auntie's. Me and my family were 🤣🤣🤣
Lovely you and your dad great memories ☺
One a the greatest scenes ever .. Rodney killed the 'lets go' moment 🤣
You see it coming from a mile away but it still kills me every time!!
I usually start pissing myself laughing about 30 seconds before it cuts to del and rodney running in.
Michael Wadeson
TOF
Yep youre right. Its predictable but a bed wetter all the same
I know if I see it every day for the fest of my life I would still laugh every time funny funny funny
The little fist punch Rodney does is perfection.
Ill never forget this moment when it was on TV. The house was in peices, everyone was a mess when they appear in the smoke
This along with Del falling through the bar it’s just comedy like no other perfection
Absolutely classic! You don't get comedy like that any more.
there will never be another comedy that could match this it would be impossible
That scene still cracks me up, from over 20 years ago from it, being on air.
Јел има Срба?? :)

British comedy at its finest
Filmed in glorious Bristol!
Funny that delboy and Rodney's car breaks down on the way to a fancy dress party and they then terrified of being seen dressed as batman and robin and they save their local councillar from being Robbed 😃

"Del... lets go"... classic British comedy. It doesn't get any better than this.
MsCharlieBrown78 (Charlie Rae) its Rodney that says it
sunnyd1271 I know it is lol
Funniest bit of the scene for me
hau j can met you
sunnyd1271 That's what she said dumbass!😂😁😂
"Sorry, must dash. Duty calls"
And the Trotters save the city once again
"Derrick Trotter. You may remember me. I wrote to you sometime ago abo-"
I just always love the fact that he actually thinks to stop and have a serious conversation with her about council dealings while dressed like that! XD
I laughed when she meets him later and it's clear she thinks he really is Batman.
zufgh " sorry , must dash , duty calls " .
Never misses an opportunity that Del boy.
When it concerns money there is no inappropriate moment for Del boy 😂😂
"DEL.. Let's go!" 😂
The background theme tune to batman combined with the expression of utter bewilderment on councillor Murray’s face makes for one of the most funniest pieces in comedy
Yes, Angela Bruce’s shell shocked reaction is Golden!
@@Extratexture4 she played it brilliantly I wonder how many takes it took to film this I can imagine they all fell about laughing
Yup, it's already hilarious, but she really sells it.
That's one of the best things about OFAH, every character is so perfectly played, even side characters like Councillor Murray
This is a classic episode
Love it, you can't get more classic comedy moment than this.

Rodney punching Steven tops it for me
1:58 If this isn't the greatest moment in British comedy history it's _damn_ close.
maybe Del falling...but yes...always funny
It's up there in the top 5... easily. "Del - Let's go!"
The watch
For me the greatest moment in British Comedy was the Newspaper descriptions in 'Yes, minister' but this one is a good contender.
Triggers broom gotta be up there as greatest lol
I heard that Ben Afflecks upcoming portrayal of Batman was inspired by Del Boy's.....
Affleck's costume shows that.
"No not if we go through the back streets and the back alleys cos the only people there are the winos and the crackheads aren't they and let's face it they see Batman and Robin every night of the week" haha classic.
They don't sell crack in Britain
@@charlesneely You don't know what you are talking about.
@@charlesneely hahaha they do, cos i was smoking it for about 5 years you fantasist.
I love the way Rodney says "Del, lets go!" lol
HUGE respect to the actress playing Councillor Murray... how she even managed to even complete the scene without cracking up will never cease to amaze me
They would have done multiple takes no doubt lol
Always thought that 🤣
She was brilliant as the female Dave Lister in Red Dwarf too.
Her name is Angela Bruce. She also played Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart's replacement Bambera in Doctor Who as well in 1989.
@@robertmcelwaine7024 thanks mate
Seeing Rodney run with those pine legs was the best thing ever! "Del...Let's go" 😂
'Del...lets go!' Gets me every time!
It's the way he smacks his fist into his palm like Robin does.
Rodneys best moment that he looked kool
I love the buildup to the bit where they're running through the smoke with the Batman theme playing. Pure genius lol.
+Darkstar263 Oh the simple minded as oh so easierly pleased!
Unfortunately, your spelling appears rather hard for you, simple for us 'simple minded'.
@Skipper8472 because it’s not the theme music. It’s one of those tracks pretending to be a theme but changed to get away with paying for the theme
@@pher38it's actually a cover

Ben O'neil ye I agree

Everytime I watch this scene I am having tears running, it's the funniest scene ever from the greatest show ever
When I watched this episode on tv I was almost crying with laughter
The Heroes Peckham, London deserve
...and filmed entirely in Bristol lol Broadmead and the last bit in Queen Charlotte street.
youandwhosearmy? I went to Bristol today and my brother showed me exactly where the van breakdown scene was filmed. It was apparently in somewhere called Penn Street. Looking at the shot at 0:25. I recognize that area now. That Granada shop to the right is now a Sainsburys. And to the left of that shot at 0:25, that eventually became part of Cabot circus.
Darkstar263 Yeah, you're dead right. It's what we all call Broadmead here in Bristol. The later bit, the bit with the robbery is definately in Queen Charlotte st. Just up from where the old music venue "The Granary" used to be. A load of famous bands played there before they got known. And of course, do not forget that Nelson Mandela house is situated just behind Bristol City's football ground lol
My brother wanted to visit those other locations too but we didn't have time unfortunately. I would like to check them out someday. On a previous visit a couple of months ago, me and my dad went into a memorabilia shop in the Galleries shopping centre and they supposedly had the actual watch from Time on our Hands on display in the window. It was framed and being sold for about 30 grand!. Yesterday, we spotted something from this episode in that shop; One of the chunky gold identity bracelets framed with a pic of Del and Rodney dressed as Batman and Robin. Also in the frame was the signed cheque for the home improvement grant. That was being sold for about 3 Grand.
It's fascinating to look up these things were filmed.
Darkstar263 Great stuff. I walked past Nelson Mandela house yesterday 'cos I went to see City play Yeovil lol yeah that shop has been there for years. It's all pretty genuine in there , but they don't half ask a price, as you say.
Enjoy your next visit :)
One of the best scenes in British TV history :D
You're wrong there mate; THE best scene in British TV history!
Alex Cameron your wrong to mate best scene In all TV
Alex Cameron the chandelier falling for me is the best scene
I like the one when Del falls through the bar
John sullivan was a true genius , legend, rest in peace my son , you are 1 in a million always and forever , gone but never forgotten ! . X ❤
No matter how many times I watch this, I still laugh, this is in my mind the greatest British tv show ever made.
British comedy in the 80's, you can't beat that : Only fools and horses, Black Adder, Alo Alo, New Statesman, You rang M'Lord, Yes minister, Red Dwarf...
this is from the mid 90s
Yes, yes, yes.
@@DoodlesGaming Huh? What is?
@@DoodlesGamingThis is, but the show is from the 80's.
I always laugh, no matter how many times I see this clip.
Some of the 15 "thumbs downs" for this video, must've come from the four young muggers.
+bungford4 Four elderly muggers going by the age of this.
the legendary Dan Clarke being one of those muggers, along with Sheree Murphy from emmerdale.
02:40 it cracked me when Rodney made the Robin move. Thank you for this historical clip!
They couldn't have done that scene in one take .I bet they were all killing themselves with laughter filming that . One of the most funniest moments on tv
In my book, this is more of a classic scene than the falling through the bar one.
Yes, a lot funnier
I love the kitchen scene in Mother N
That's a great episode too.
I was lucky enough to have been in the studio audience for this episode. Still makes me laugh out loud
Can't imagine what it must have been like to see this first hand. Bet there was some belly laughs
@@scottmurray2776 I still laugh just as hard, knowing what is coming.
I do remember watching the recording and it ran like a play.
There was only one stop- and that was when “Albert” called “Cassandra”- by Raquel’s name. Apart from that one error, every laughing that episode was spontaneous audience laughter.
I also remember that the BBC were filming the then lottery show in another studio, and hadn’t many people in the audience.
I don’t know if it’s the same now, but then, you applied to the BBC to watch a recording and it was pot luck what you got.
So, imagine my joy to get 2 tickets for Only Fools and Horses!
Like me, no one else in the queue wanted to swop OFAH for the lottery show!
What was the setup like in the studio? I assume they showed this scene to you on a screen?
@@dannylagangonzalez6832 It was a mixture of watching scenes in the flat and the Nags Head live. But scenes were also pre recorded, such as the Batman arrival.
It ran like a play, and only stopped once, when Buster Merryfield called “Cassandra”, “ Raquel” by mistake.
But the audience watched it as you saw it when broadcast, so the laughing was spontaneous.

I had a mate once, and then he said he didn't like Only Fools and Horses. He's not my mate anymore.
I've learnt a lesson today. I will never drink when watching only fools and horses again that's it .....bloody hell at 1:59 I almost pissed myself my drink went all over my iPad I was soaked ...........but I never gave a absolute shit!!! This show is a disease! 😂😂😂btw that music suits Del and Rodney SO MUCH
Del Boy aka David Jason made me laugh a lot, once a week, every week almost throughout my entire childhood. Still has the same effect.
I love the way the audience burst into laughter when it cuts to Del and Rodney with the Batman music playing, it's not canned pre recorded laughter like on modern sitcoms, you can hear it's genuine
A lot of modern sitcoms still use real live audiences.
Those three thieves made a smarter decision than all of Gotham's criminal underworld combined.
I like to think if the cast of 1960's Batman saw this, they would be laughing & clapping along with us.
the episode is called heroes & villains to anyone who wants to know!
pure genius
I can remember the first time I watched this years and years ago. I was in hysterics
I can remember watching this while working as a volunteer in a homeless shelter and all the residents standing up and applauding!
Makes me smile every time. How can anyone not like this
one of, if not the best moment's in the history of comedy
I dont laugh at this anymore. I cry. Somehow laughing at perfection cheapens the experience.
Rodney "We phone the RAC"
Del: "Yes, ask to be put through to their Broken Down Whilst Dressed As A Couple Of Prats department"
As a Batman fan this is pure gold genius. 😂 😂 😂
Gets even better when Del and Rodney turn up to the funeral dressed like this thinking they were attending a fancy dress party LOL
Boycie was cosplaying as the Joker.
Trigger saying he thought it was as well but was dressed in a sombre suit. When Del asked why is he in a suit, Trigger replies he's come as a chauffeur.
Just so funny. Even though you know it's coming, the pay off is still priceless. David Jason. National treasure.
that's britain, where a couple of guys are worried about being seen in unusual clothes!

A truly genuine genuine belly laugh. Even when you know what's coming, it never fails to please. The hallmark of proper comedy.
They just don't make em like this any more.
This has always been my favourite only fools and horses episode!
This is one scene I never get tired of watching. Imagine Uncle Albert as Alfred, Boycie as The Penguin, and Trigger as The Joker.
Yea 😂😂😂😂😂
Marlene as Catwoman, and Mickey Pearce as the Riddler.
And of course the Capri Ghia as the Batmobile - sorry, 'Pratmobile'.
@@josephilsley3028 Either than or the one-owner Cortina. Del Boy could sell that to Bruce Wayne for 200 quid for Dick Grayson's learner car.
Boycie as the Joker!!!
Del and Rodney - the pioneers of Cosplaying. lol XD
When he's talking to her he even does it in a batman way.... too classic
Del's bulge might also be another reason why she was looking so surprised
leoncrazyman07 Rodney has no bulge 😁
Probably why he and Cassandra have trouble in the bedroom.
Just as funny as the first time I watched it!
One of the most iconic scenes in British comedy, second only to Del falling through the bar. The fact the BBC went the extra mile and licensed Nelson Riddle’s 1960s Batman TV show theme only makes it even more iconic.
Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst performing the 1966 Batrun, with the appropriate musical background... even Robin's "fist-in-hand-let's-go" move is there! How classical can a classic get, or two classics for the price of one! Love OFAH!!!
The best thing is the way Rodney clearly doesn't realise he's doing the hand punch thing.
Blows anything in BvS out the water
I agree
Ryan Fanstone the extended cut is still pure shit haha
BvS?
Thankyou John Sullivan, for the funniest series I've had the pleasure...' ... & to ALL the actors, YOU WERE perfec !
...from a convict down 'ere ;-) well done bruvs! haha
I grew up with this series and remember watching this the first time it came out - I literally laughed till I cried!
Only Fools And Horses Is Up There With Fawlty Towers And Blackadder As The Best British TV Sitcom Of All Time!
Love that Lady's face when Del and Rodney came by, she must've been like what the hell?!
Angela Bruce knows how to act in comedy, even with just an expression.
A few months later, we got Batman & Robin, a dreadful movie which killed the superhero franchise for a while. John Sullivan and the OFAH team did a far better job of depicting the Dynamic Duo than Joel Schumacher did in B&R. (This scene is infinite times better than the 1997 film.)
still cry laughing now but how could 19 people click that they don't like this
One of those unforgettable scenes. 1:58 😂😂😂 just priceless. I've seen this so many times and it never ceases to be funny.
2:15 She has either really seen Batman and Robin running by or she is the best damn actress in history. That facial expression is simply priceless. The most legendary scene in history of television.
We're currently planning to do a spoof of this for my digital arts course, just got to somehow acquire a Robin costume, I have a Batman suit myself, bought it on eBay about 2 years ago.
I kind of wish he'd never introduced himself to her(perhaps just kept running or said something generic/vague like asking her if she was okay), felt it'd have been funnier that way if she was left standing there and pondering if she'd actually been rescued by Batman and Robin, lol.
When I first watched this I actually fell off the sofa laughing.
😂 i remember watching this I was 16 or 17 years old just left school and was in college great show love David jason
Only fools and horses are just pure masterpiece. Acting, jokes and joke delivery's, it's just perfect. John Sullivan is genius of comedy.
