Tell me about it! The reasons why this album got slaughtered by both the Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins fans of Genesis is because of how they didn’t think that Ray Wilson was a good fit. Wilson in my opinion sounds very much akin to Gabriel in most of the tracks of this album.

They should have done at least one more album. It is hard to make a big change. 'Trick of the Tail' was an exceptional exception. Potential it seems is a heavy burden.

This album sold 250,000 copies in Germany, 110,000 copies in the USA, 100, 000 copies in the UK and it reached the gold status in some other countries, so what the heck is the problem is the negative critics? i myself don't care about the critics anyway, but a lot of people don't give this album a chance after reading those bad and low grade given by the music critics, thanks Genesis for sharing this album, it's a good one.

The problem is the Brit Pop and grunge in those years. May be if Genesis went those avenues. Probably got success. (Imagine They Hired a guitarist and singer like Noel Gallagher)

@@gatolocoverga152 This song is a typical Genesis song and i think that Ray was a good choice as a vocalist, the drummer is also very good, so i don't think that the problem is the casting, i guess we'll keep to speculate.

One of the most underrated tracks, and one of the nicest as well with a track that will be the one to start off my birthday on #April19 alongside my twin brother @E.D. Such a perfect selection they chose this week with underrated brillance especially since our birthday is on the 19th of April. A band who made and has so many legendary music/songs that relate to me, inspire me, motivate me even to this day and was literally my childhood. Especially in making days and memories memorable. Thank you so much for everything Genesis especially for what you did for all of us along these years and with what you still countinue to do for all of us even today. Truly iconic and legendary you are. A band, trio and musicians with such a huge legacy that will be remembered to generation to generation, inspiring millions, and relating to millions with his songs. Songs that are unmatched for all that he has done in the world along with many other featured legendary artists that he's collaborated with. One of the greatest singers, bands, and musicians of all time. So many legendary, iconic, relatable soundtracks that literally relates to us from our past alongside present, made our childhood and much more. Music with emotion and feelings, not just words. Music like no other, music so unique, its better felt than explained or expressed with so much endless things to say. And now its my birthday on #April19. Same with my twin brother E.D, who is a huge Genesis fan. 🐐👑💙

For me this is a good musical album and up there with the best of Genesis. Perhaps, the record company did not want to promote the group more due to the lack of confidence of the fans and the record company coming to assess other later or leftover songs from this album, compiled in Congo. (Congo, the group's last pirate album). I suppose they must have thought for a while whether they should continue or not. In the end, the weight of the band put an end to the aspirations of the new component, Ray Wilson. An exhaustive search on the Internet can bear fruit for the most curious.

    Lyrics to this great track;
You're no longer part of my life
    I must remind myself again
Too much has happened to us to cause each other pain
It is over now, there is too much guilt to share
Once there would have been a time for talking and learning
There must be some other way
To get where we have to go
There must be some other way
    Please show me another way
Once it would have been so easy, to do what we have to do
There must be some other way
    Please show me another way
Are we no more than parts in a play
Letting other people, strangers say our lines?
To think it should come to this, after all these years
What was mine and what should stay behind
Once there would have been a time of sharing, of caring
There must be some other way
To get where we have to go
There must be some other way
    Please show me another way
Once it would have been so easy to do what we have to do
(There must be some other way)
There must be some other way
Please show me, show me another way...
There's nothing much left to say
We have said it once and said it all again
This time we have gone too far, it could never be the same
It's time to carry on create new lives
Once we promised we would stay together forever
There must be some other way
To get where we have to go (there must be some other way)
There must be some other way
    Please show me another way
Once it would have been so easy to do what we have to do (what we have to do)
You know there must be some other way
    Please show me another way
You know there must be another way
Please show me, show me another way (there must be some other way)
You know there must be some other way...

At the time of its release, I never gave this album a chance. Not because Phil was gone. But rather because Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance had ended any interest I had in new music from them. First off I think Ray's voice is terrific. Very expressive. But often buried to far down in the mix (What's up with that Tony?) Tracks like this one and It's Not About Us could have been another rebirth for Genesis, but Tony and Mike pulled the plug much too early I think. I guess when you've been to the top, there is no desire to start over.

Powerful track. Had this album been released 10 years earlier than it's actual release date, I think it would have been a huge hit. MTV and FM had lost interest in Genesis during the 90s. Smug critics were relentlessly panning Genesis in the 90s. It was all about grunge and rap (not that critics were ever that kind to Genesis). Even Phil was struggling to stay relevant around this time. Although in the current TH-cam era, it's nice to see new fans of all ages appreciating this music along side the loyal fanbase.
