I love that during this scene, Barbara didn’t loose her cool at all, even though Janine’s mom was clearly in the wrong for trying to guilt Janine into taking her money. Barbara did nothing but speak truth, and even offered to give her the money so Janine can still have her trip. She’s a true mother figure for Janine.
Barbara kept her cool while Janine's mom was trying to step up to her like the trash she is This is why Barbara's my favorite Everyone say they love Ava but Barbara leads by example and is class all the way
After that Dinner Table scene when Cookie wore the fur coat, I thought I'd never be any more smitten with Taraji. Enter that green dress at the BET Awards. Yeah. She played herself with that food critic dude. But she was killing fools. Avocado is her color. In this scene, I'm checking out her behind. I'm okay with admitting it
When strangers act like they love you but your own mother doesnt. I know that feeling. Still burns decades later. Never looked at my mother the same after that day.
People will never be able to love someone in a healthy way as God intended if they don't truly love Him or themselves. They don't love themselves and tend to be jealous and competitive with their own children. It is challenging to accept initially, but it is a must. And it is imperative to move forward the best that you can with everything in you. I pray your strength in the LORD IN JESUS' NAME. AMEN. GOD is real, alive, and well. GOD truly does love and care for you. HE told me to tell others that we are in good hands like Allstate.
the later scene where she says that barbra squared up couldve actually happened considering in a later episode we learnt that barbra beat a kids father for acting tough on her
This was a great scene. I liked that the her mother saw right through what Barbara was trying to do even before she got to the part about the bill, and Barbara didn’t raise her voice, get her face, she just said point blank.
Vanetta is a garbage mom! Who doesn't deserve to have Janine as a daughter. How are you going to come to your daughter work steal from the teachers' lounge, and expect her to pay your bill? And, they have the nerve to some crap like "You can't keep a good man down"? For real?🤯🤦🏾♀️(First of all, if you think a man who is of trifling, irresponsible & immature as you, that has never put her first, a good man to your daughter? Then you are out of your mind. Second, Janine, the one who is better off without Tariq). Watching this, you finally understand Janine more.
Given the real-life 19 year age gap between Taraji and Quinta, it’s believable that Vanetta had Janine in her teens or late teens. Most teen parents are typically seen as irresponsible, which pretty much applies to Vanetta as a mother to Janine
And Scene!!! 📣 This episode and scene was dynamic! Don’t sleep on Taraji! They both played their roles awesomely!! Brava, Ladies! 🏆🏆👏🏽👏🏽 Kudos to the writer too! 😊
After finding out Barbara knocked out a whole man, I see why she wasn’t pressed. Janine’s mom was about to have the hands of GAWD laid upon her in a real way. 😂
The bottom line from this relationship is Janine had to be a grown up from an early age. It explains why her character constantly seeks validation from her co workers especially Barbara. If you don’t get the validation of love and trust from your parents you’ll try to seek it through someone (co workers, teachers, relationships) or something else (drugs, alcohol, sex). Thankfully Janine had co workers that revealed this dysfunction in her.
If she got them Skippity-Paps or not (I believe she does), Barbara is a rock-solid sister. She truly sees Janine as fam. She truly understands something about Janine that even Cookie doesn't understand at this moment. Most of all, she was intrepid enough to go to bat. I wish I had friends like that.
@@hydrangeas_lover She had a bill of over 2 or 3 hundred dollars and was trying to get Janine to pay for it all through guilt tripping. Janine paid only the first two months to get her service back on (which is completely unheard of any cell phone company, they wouldn’t have kept giving her service after the first bill wasn’t paid) Janine sacrificed the massage that came with the trip, but was able to still go to the hotel. I wouldn’t have been the bigger person in this scenario, the only thing she would’ve gotten from me is a dial tone for not paying the damn bill herself.

Now I see why Janines sister left if that’s how her mom sees her “you win some you loose some”
Who plays her sister?

Here here, so TRUE! Barbara is the BEST 👍
No she's not. Barbara treats Janine like garbage and even goes out on lunch dates with Melissa and other coworkers without bothering to invite Janine.
Barbara ain’t flinch a inch.
"I don't know you, but I've met YOU before, many different times."
In the most recent episode it's revealed Barbara has swung on a parent 😂
Two grammatical errors in a five-word sentence. That takes effort!

Janine deserves a mom like Barbara.

One of my favorite actresses❤

Story of my life
@veronica5lmaa story of my life, unfortunately
It all made sense why Janine saw Barbara as a mother figure. Barbara was the mother Janine never had.
No wonder she’s gives so much to the school. At least at the school they give her some reason of being valid rather than a face.
the later scene where she says that barbra squared up couldve actually happened considering in a later episode we learnt that barbra beat a kids father for acting tough on her
Can we talk about Taraji’s hair 😩😩 she is always stunning
I really admire Barbara as a character and her actress for bringing such wholesome sincerity on screen. 😊
Barbara is one of the classiest women I have ever seen

Barbara is more like a mother figure to Janine
Yes she is, since the show started

Parents like her piss me off. Kids don't owe their parents. They owe us!
Totally. Vanetta Teagues is a great villain and Taraji P. Henson really knocked it out of the park this episode. I love this show so much!

Atta girl Barbara!
Basically Cookie
I'm sorry, but Quinta is the cutest human ever. No matter the emotion or the expression. 😂❤
This is wild Cookie would never treat her kids like this 😂😂😂😂
I wouldn't know how to feel if someone did something so... self-sacrificing for me in the face of an (at best) apathetic mooch of a parent.
Excellent scene!!!
The cookout line is a reference to Empire's Cookie Cookout 😂

I wonder if T. Henson gets tired of playing hoodrats.. she's been doing it since Baby boy
I was abt to make a case 😂 but I really can't,it's only a few times that she didn't play one

So how did that situation end???
Janine still went on her trip. However, she offered to pay the money to get her mother's phone turned back on, and that's it.

Barbara is NOT reading the room. Mom sadly looks like she doesn't care about Janine's accomplishment nor her growth
Barbara was standing up for the woman she views as a daughter and attempting to fix her situation, she didn't need to "read the room"
