When I taught in Newark, New Jersey, I had a parent try to fight me over taking a pencil away from her kid. I had to remind her that I was the one that supplied her child with school supplies, and that he was using the pencil to poke the child that was sitting next to him! I’m glad I resigned from that teaching position the following month!
