I am also in a situation. I applied for a study permit in September and one DLI starting in Winter 2023. But my application has not been approved yet. I have a second admission letter which I got very late for winter admission and I wanted to move there as it is UOT for Ph.D. :). I am confused should I upload the second letter now and I should wait for a study permit decision, land in Canada, and then change schools right after reaching there? I am confused as IRCC's new rule about changing schools is one should be active, studying to change school inside Canada.

Does giving a web form increase the processing time for the application? Do we have to attach new Study Plan to the webform or just the LOA will be fine. She is in Bangladesh right now so I was worried it may delay further. Her program starts on September 2023

So I have been accepted into the MA program in Information Systems & Technologies at York University for the Fall 2023 intake, and I have accepted the offer via MyFile.
Meanwhile earlier I had been accepted into York Pgm PG Certificate program and Post receiving confirmation & receipt of the payment from York SCS, I applied for Canadian Visa at IRCC on 28th Feb 2023 providing the documents from the same in the SDS category and got my biometrics done on the 6th March 2023, and it has now been approved and I have to send my visa to be stamped on my passport for that where I attached LOA and everything from the PG Certificate program.
For my current situation, I received an offer for MA in IST for Fall 2023 intake, on the 13th of March 2023, which leaves me in a confusing situation as to what is to be done as I want to MA in IST as I have accepted the offer for it as well and want to do masters.
The DLI is the same for both courses, but the duration of pgm which I applied for is 1 year and the duration of the master's is 2 yrs.

The first one will be how can I change my study program at the same college while I am still in my country of residence and have my study permit? It is like your second scenario but I want to change my program at the same college not changing the college itself. Hi! You can do it with the school and then let the visa officer know at the border and explain it makes more sense to your well being at home
Thank you Max, just to be very clear please. A student is interested in a two year diploma in a new school but about applying for visa using a one year postgraduate certificate program LOA from another school . Do you advise the student to go ahead to get LOA from the second school now but only do the changing after arriving in Canada or do you advise the student to wait to get to Canada before getting the LOA from the new diploma course of interest? The student wants to know to avoid losing the seats in the new school if the LOA is not secured on time and acceptance paid. Again, will getting the second school LOA affect the visa chances even if the IRCC is not informed yet ?

I have finished 3 semesters in the current school in the program I'm enrolled in and I have decided to change the school and program, got an acceptance letter from my new school. Can I just let them know using GC key and start my course in the new school or should I do anything more other than that? (I'm in Canada btw). You can file a webform or use GCKey, yes. I don't know if they will inform you but you can call IRCC a month after you submit to verify of they received it

You can do it but then about 6 months before your SP expires apply for an extension

If you apply for a visa - yes, they will approve. If it's a webform - no, they might not follow up

So I applied to another college and got the offer letter on April for sept 2023. Then my 1 semester finish here and i got the summer break and I am working on SIN. I actually applied twice for my study permit which had General studies as my program and unfortunately got rejected in both due to mistakes and insufficient documents. But I am not giving up hope and i am interested in applying for the third time but also thinking about switching my program to an associates degree in science which is a university transfer as well. does doing this decrease my chances on a study permit approval since my first two applications had a different program or will it be fine to do so bc i havent submitted my third application yet?

However, due to a family emergency i have to visit my mother country and i need to change the DLI which is located in Toronto . I have changed my DLI number recently using GCKey account as you showed on your video. My concern is that I didn't receive any confirmation emails or messages from the IRCC to verify that my DLI number was successfully changed. Also, I noticed that at no point during the process was I asked to upload my new college's Acceptance Letter. I'm finding it a bit difficult to navigate the system and ensure everything is set correctly. I certainly don't want to find myself in a situation where I thought my DLI number had been changed but in fact, it was not. How to confirm if my DLI number change was successful?

I recently got approved for my study permit outside canada and I wanted to change schools which meant I am required to submit a new permit and my new study permit application has just been approved in just 1 month and 2 weeks. I necessarily don’t believe that applying again after approval will increase your chances of refusal. I stay in South Africa btw 🇿🇦

I don’t wanna risk of getting refusal by changing my university yet, so I would rather studying for one year in Canada, then change with ‘student transfer’ option. My question is, for student transfer, should the programs be identical or they just need to be in the same faculty? (I am going to study Bachelor of Health Science, but the university I want to change to, have Bachelor of Science, Biology Major)
They don't need to be in the same field at all (once you're in Canada it's a 99% approval chance)

My sister’s study visa has just been approved yesterday. She was supposed to resume studies this month but bcos of the delay, she couldn’t. She reached to the school to defer her admission to May or September term 2023 but they said seats are full. Availability is Jan. 2024. My brother got his student visa to start a program in January 2023. Unfortunately this visa came two days after the deadline was over at this college so he had to postpone his start day to January 2024.
In the mean time he applied to a different program in a different college to start in May 2023.
How would you recommend to explain the immigration office that he will do the a program at Connestoga College from May to December 2023 followed by the initial program from January 2024 onwards?

Recently I got another offer from UBC and I want to switch my program to UBC. I am currently outside Canada. I also got stuck in a similar situation, however I have read somewhere that if you are in Canada and you are going to change your DLI, it is important that whether your previous school is in same province as your new LOA or not. It was written that if it is in other province you should apply for new study permit. Is it right? Have you heard of that?

No, you can switch between provinces. But if you have not started program A and want to switch to program B - you need a new study permit

Hi Max, do I need to ‘physically’ attend the courses in the first DLI for a day before requesting to transfer to a second DLI that offered me a place?! It sounds like I may not hear back but can proceed to legally attend classes in the second DLI thereafter..So can I already treat myself successful and start courses enrolment in the second DLI even before landing in Canada?
You need to have started classes (even if 1 day) to send a webform requesting for a change, once that's done - you can switch

I have my student visa valid until June 2025 since I am studying a 4-year program, but I got an admission to a one-year program that would start in fall 2023 and end in winter 2024, which would still leave me with one year of visa. Is it legal to stay in Canada that extra year working and doing experience and then apply to the PGWP? What would happen in this case?
You will need to let IRCC know and your status will be adjusted. You will have to apply for your PGWP once your classes end

Hi max, so i have a really important question for you… I am already in Canada and I got accepted for Graphic Design (winter term) in some college in Toronto and my study permit got accepted for this specific area (arts, design), but due to personal reasons i had to change my college to a new one which would be starting this September. I have withdrawn my MBA program from UCW and I am changing program to Diploma program ( Motive power technician) into a college which is in DLI list. One of the RCIC said it will be a problem to get pgwp as I have changed the program from business to mechanic or trade course. But in ircc website I didn’t find any information like this. What do you think about this now?

Last January, I withdrew from a college in Ontario after completing my first semester. To avoid any legal issues, I returned to my home country. Then I applied to a new Canadian university I have been accepted for the winter 2024 term and have changed my DLI number through my GCkey account.
