Remember finding this out by accident and going "What the hell was that?", as well as jumping through those vendors stands in multiple ways. Quite impressive how AC1 actually required a notion of it's mechanics to fully master them, like the hidden blade, it was the most OP weapon but only when used in the right way.
Awesome video! There is one more use of vaulting that’s worth mentioning. Pulling yourself up onto a ledge is also considered a “jump” by the game. Meaning, if there are little clothing racks or chimneys close to ledges, you can hold the necessary inputs to have Altaïr vault those immediately after getting up onto the ledge.
I just started playing AC1 and I'm blown away by the mechanics that I didn't knew were in the game, it seems that the first parkour system has a lot more depth and requires more precision and understanding of the environment

i have played this game since it first came out and never knew about this mechanic. it rlly shows the level of depth this game had especially for its time
"To make it smooth... Do it at an angle." Truer words were never spoken, I can't imagine how much time you have spent testing different situations for this mechanic.
I just learned about this. How did i not know about this for 15 years? Is this an intended mechanic? The game never mentions this. This is a game changer
You can actually vault by doing your first manual jump without moving and once you hit your second jump you can vault. So you dont have to mive on your first jump and just jump in place.
Great tutorial. Too bad I didn't watch this way baaack in '07 while playing AC1.😂 I was just too engrossed in killing my targets and being involed in the whole Templar conspiracy stuff. Lololol. I am genuinely surprised AC1 had this cool mechanics!
So basically I have to hold empty hand between transitions of non standing positions correct? So just to verify I understand, will it work if I jump from a beam and whilst midair I hold empty hand when landing on the next platform? Also thank you for your great work
Ok what about that jump off the wall on to an enemy thing is that considered a vault as well or is that a different sequence of buttons Iv done it a few times he does it in the introduction sequence when he uses the crossbow
In other environments, such as a beam like he's crouched on in the middle, to another beam, the vault would be used to descend. Sort of like the parkour down from ac unity
I just realised you are playing with mouse and keyboard by the way the camera is turning. Why would you play Assadsin's Creed with mouse and keyboard? 😓
god i wish the assassin's creed games were harder.....their so easy learning the meachnics is almost pointless....because with raw persistence you will win.....its annoying.....
14 years later, I finally learned about vaulting in this game.
I love how lots of people are going back to the older games especially AC1
That's exactly what I'm doing
Ac1 is such a good game. It's sad to see people saying "it didn't age that well " or " it's unplayable now "
Absurd

so true
He is going to run into someone.
He means if u walk on the beam vertically and hold open hand you won’t drop down

Very brief but comprehensive, I wasn't getting why Altair would just hang when I vaulted, keep up the good work
Parkour in AC was always pretty stylish but that, damn. Thanks for guide, will try it

I never knew you could vault until I saw the demo video, and even then, I thought it was cut from the game
Took me a sec to understand what you meant by open hand, would have been helpful to have seen your HUD at the same time as well but thank you

Amazing tutorial. You really explained it perfectly. What is the music playing in the background? It really made the video more immersive.
the “immersive" music is from Hitman Blood money (same composer as that of Asscreed!)
Never seen this again till ac3
Justo estoy jugando el 1 y explorando todo 😊
Great tutorial dude this is very helpful
so u have to HOLD circle / empty hand while press R2 / HP
Hold X (legs) & O (empty hand) simultaneously in HP
Is this maneuver possible on the original PS3 console version of this game?
You'll have to hold down x and o? It seems like a pretty strange combination.
Only works on PC
