On my tiger 1200 loaded with panniers, a top box, and camping gear, I have to stand on the foot Peg to get on the bike. If I was 7 foot tall it wouldn't be a problem.
Straight through pipes decreases heat by 50%. SP Engineering shotgun pipes. Have them on mine, sound awesome, look awesome and no problem with heat now. Decat reduces top end power according to tech.

Had mine for 6 months now. Exhaust heat only issue but replaced the cat with a free spirits H pipe and the issue is resolved. Given the exhaust a lovely timbre too. I bloody love it. But I do miss the practicality of my old Tiger.
Did you not find the bike top heavy to move around Rich? I loved the big scrambler but it was so hard to shift in and out of my garage, I couldn't live with the hassle and would end up not riding it much because of it......
So many different views on getting on and off a bike. We're all different shapes, sizes and agility. The only right way is what works for you. I like the look of the bike, but that pipe looks like an after thought, sounds great though.
Another great video, welcome to the Triumph way of life. Looking cool & bimbling along, the exhaust is hot because it has the Cat. converter under the centre panels [Same with Street Scrambler]. I have the Street Twin so my heat issues mainly come from the 900cc engine, which my left knee seems to always rest on.... Character....

Superb Rich. The usual wonderful Northern humour. No better motorcycle channel. Fact. Bit disappointed not to get any feedback on that joint of beef, and more importantly, the accompanying Yorkshire puds - which I KNOW Mrs Vida will have cooked - as it is the law !!!. I love the look of the Triumph, but thinking about exhaust burn issues, I was wondering if maybe you have thought about testing another bike for similar terrain. I see Honda have an "Option". Maybe worth a try mate 👀😁😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Got letters after my name now mate. OAP 🙄
@@RichyVida Hi mate. I'm ok Rich thanks mate. Still in Cairo and doing a lot of early morning walking in the desert (weatheris awesome now Rich), and keeping busy. I like the look of the bike on the whole, but then Triumph fitted that exhaust. Turns the bike into something Flash Gordon would ride. Strange B movie 50's sci-fi feel.
Climbing on the bike whilst it's still on it's side stand puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on the stand itself. Eventually causing the bike to lean further over than it should when the stand is down. Most dealers and manufacturers advise against doing this to prevent wear and tear on the side stand plate. Hope this is helpful, not trying to be condescending. Great review Richy
Interesting re. that high-pitched noise you report, Richy. I've noticed a brief (about half a second) bit of white noise coming through on my Cardo every few minutes in recent weeks. I reckon it's interference break-through when the heated grips on my Beemer cycle on and off in normal use. So it could be a similar electrical RF cause, but in your case constant by the sound of it.
My Street twin did the same with the front brakes but since changing the tyres it has stopped, could be that it's over 3k miles now aswell but I have heard a lot of people say the twin and Scrambler have a squeaky front brake
Hi Ricky Do you think carbon fibre on the middle section of the exhaust would cure the heat issue. I have watched several reviews and no one really complains about the exhaust heat. Do you prefer this over the Africa Twin? I know you won’t over the VFR 😂
I think the high pitched whistle is related to the overhead cam plain bearing - shell style and most noticeable at low revs, or is it the cam chain passing over the tensioner arm? Other bikes wont have it - eg gear driven cams, If it is the tensioner arm as per my earlier Yam TX500 and current RE 650 Interceptor both with the slipper tensioner arm, vs tensioner sprocket idlers - quiet... I don't knw the details of the various cam drives, but that is the source I believe.
Think it's a good looking bike with a great engine. I do think its compromised as a road bike and an off road bike. If you were serious about having a bike to do both then something like the Tenere 700 is required. Think it will fit with the style conscious who like to dress a certain way and enjoy visiting coffee shops.
Quite a high seating position Rich? Guessing there isn't a noticeable weight distribution issue with single side pannier, obviously I mean when you have your slab of cow etc loaded in.
Side stand!! bad practice old boy :) saw one snap on a bike with a big bloke standing on it to get on . Saw Bruce doing it the other day, he wouldn't have passed his bike course doing that!!!!
Dont know if its because XE is taller.. but I havent had an exhaust heat issue ?? Ive had Decat pipe done so That may have helped I dont know .. to be honest I dont even know what the decat pipe thing does? The Triumph sales guy said it would help and I parted with £270 plus vat like a arsxhxle i am !! a salesman;s dream yet again!!
Nice vide mate, where were you 5.42 mins in,it looked really nice,i climb on the same as you now, with no problem, before that getting on was a PITA,plus halfway over i used to get bloody cramp (boohoo) Ride Safe Baza \m/
Firstly, I'm jealous that you can still hear high frequencies 😂 Secondly, being a shortarse I find standing on a footpeg to get on a bike quite useful sometimes. I even did a YT video on it, but my S1000R does not have a sturdy looking side stand assembly and so I wouldn't do it all the time; I do actually think it would cause some wear/damage in the long term.

I had a road test on one ,good bike but top heavy and that exhaust made my knee feel like it was poking out in the traffic .Preferred the street twin which i bought and had electrical problems with.
Regarding the high pitch noise, is it the sound of the triple engine? My mate has a 2016, Tiger800 xca, I can always hear the high pitch, almost whistle sound of his engine through our comms. Gives me a heads up whether he's winding on the throttle or rolling off at bends & corners. Lovely bike, good review 🤙🏻👍🏻

I always stand on the left foot peg to mount my steed, makes the job easy peasy especially if top box fitted.
Strains the stand pivot. In time it’ll flap about and bike will lean further over. I’m old enough to have seen the result many times.

- decat OFF (heat source)

No, not over the AT. It's a totally different machine. Defo prefer the big Adventure style, but these retro bikes are super-cool.
I think we all make excuses to ride when we manage to get our hands on a new bike LOL! Great Video Sir! :)
I always stand on the left peg to swing my leg over the bike, stops you from stretching or doing yourself a injury. !!

funny people's view i think its minging
SP engineering do a great exhaust for this bike and it reduces heat by half.
