People commenting 'Stockholm Syndrome' completely missed the mark. The movie makes clear she wants to go. She hears him on the phone and feels sorry for him. She knows exactly where he plans to take her. She has ample opportunities to escape it get help.. she allows herself to be manhandled past a big group of people, more concerned about keeping hold of her purse, they go back and forth cleaning the car and she could run. Her body language when they get in the car.. she laughs at him and her body language is open and voluntary angles towards him. This is not the behaviour of a scared individual.
Right. I think she tries to change him. She really liked him. I remember this film 3:41 when it came out in the theaters.
I agree with most of this, but I completely disagree about her allowing herself to be manhandled.. she's clearly terrified and even covering her private area implying that she thinks she's about to get r@ped.. she couldn't scream for help at the dance studio because Billy was "covering her mouth".. but after that yes she has every opportunity to escape..
That is ridiculous just because her body language indicated she was calm and relaxed doesn’t mean at all that she was fine with what was happening

You can tell Vincent Gallo wrote this movie. Just giving his character the freedom to single handedly ridicule a girl, and eventually makes her character fall in love with him.

@@ozzylepunknown551 Oh no. It isn't. William does eventually change throughout the film. He's really just a misunderstood manchild to start off with, thanks to his horrible background.
@Random Guy doesnt make him any less of an asshole. He literally assaulted and kidnapped her.
@@Manu-dp4ls I mean, that's fair. The character is quite unliekable throughout the story, but we do see his more softer side come out when Layla starts to fall head over heels with him, slowly showing that he needs her just as much as she needs him.

Believe it or not, Billy is a relatable character; not from the abusive dictator aspect of his personality, but by his antisocial behaviour and socially awkward personality. The commenter might be a socially awkward person, seeing a lot of himself in Billy.
I love how she sounds like mildly annoyed and not horrified. You can tell this was directed by a man.
