i was thinking about it as just a piece of clothing at first but once I thought of it as a wearable art piece, the price seemed more justifiable to me. a 1,500$ painting that you can't wear vs a 1,500$ painting that you can wear
i find it interesting clothing like this that are a statement of a problem like oil and over consumption and them putting all this work into this piece and charging so much is them combating that yet they don't donate the loads of money they charge for these pieces to the cause maybe I'm looking too far into it but it seems like posing yk
Sure, I think there's an argument of hypocrisy, even quite possibly an acknowledged one. I think there's an element to this where it is intentionally provocative through its price. Demna has done shows about the dangers of climate change and stuff and that's even worse because they're a mass-produced corporate luxury brand. So I think on the one hand you're right, but also if everyone bought handmade slow fashion pieces it would inherently help the environment so you could also argue that in and of itself is a benefit. Or you could say it's all posturing. Up to you!
Is it really a piece of art if the piece can’t truly express itself, without all the story telling, packaging, explained thoughts process, price point, etc ? Everything stated above is just extremely good marketing from this company, but without it, you wouldn’t even consider it as art. I guess what is art and isn’t can be subjective, so I respect different opinions :)
@@JeuneF it’s a fair take, totally! I think even I’m in the fence there, despite the fact that I really like it. However, I’d say clothing has the hardest time of all the arts as to showing what it’s “about” through only itself. You kind of either get what it’s going for through your pre-existing fashion knowledge or happening to know their references, or you don’t and it needs to be told to you. Unlike music, movies, poetry, etc. which have a much easier time telling you what they’re about through their medium itself.
Do you know why the shirt you got is machine washable, while the one on the website is dry clean? Must be a sample and it’s very nice they decided to go with a washable variant imo.
No I don’t have that detail but I know the one I have is the same as and other actively produced one so apparently the ones going out are washable which I agree is much easier!
This reminds me of THAT Raf Simons collection. You know the one, Virginia Creeper and Nebraska crewnecks. The ones thay cost up to 17k To be jonest i repsect the concept a lot. My problem is the price obviously. I mean if im earning 6 figures after tax then maybe, but id rather get an extremely high quality Burberry shirt for 10 times cheaper than a crewneck thats designed to destroy itself over time
@@rfrferraro lol imagine being so insecure you get triggered, just because some stranger on the web think super overpriced clothes are super overpriced.

as much as it's awesome that you like it this much i still think its not demna like overpriced - silly but still art, this is a overpriced tee with fading effect but just better than most fast fashion ones, but they don't set the bar very high tbf

Very interesting, thanks for introducing me to new brand, kinda reminds me of a cold wall, i can see some similarities in the idea
I was just contemplating buying this lol, you seem to drop videos perfect timing every time.
yeah, they magically balanced gritty and pleasing. Balenciaga’s muddy piece looks like dog mess compared to this 😂
The bag the tshirt came wrapped in. It turns into a painting you can hang on the wall??? Like a canvas?
100% - one of the parts I unfortunately cut for time but it’s super cool

worth ≠ what a brand charges
How is the quality of the material
Very nice! 290 gsm organic, quite canvas-like
@@LOWluxuryyou should look into the brand they’re currently selling an $8k tshirt, I really like their pants and shorts

Packaging is something else ✨👌 do you know what material that covered the shirt is made from? Looks like fabric and ?
It look to me like essentially the same material as painting canvas, but I’m not a painter so there may be subtleties I’m missing
720p?
Maybe your internet, I have the 1080p option when I go to view.
