Glad to hear you have the same feeling of dismay and sadness about the trash problem in our village as we do. This area could really be spectacularly beautiful with just a little care -- although I must admit it does look better than when i was last there in February. Looking forward to speaking to you when my wife and I return in October--maybe we could brainstorm a Farang improvement to the litter problem.
G'Day Michael The village workers have been doing a lot in recent months, but they obviously don't get much support from the community. :-( The rubbish just keeps coming back Take care Brad & Ta
Well, Brad, nice video, hmmm well looks like your at the helm of a great adventure! Well, I'll hop aboard, lets all figure out how to fix this problem. First thing, get rid of Pong, Pong tree!
Well, after alot of thought, mainly because this is a big problem, your absolutely right. Its education, on a community level. Yes, people need to feel a sense of pride, thru their own involvement . Well, who knows, maybe the whole community will rebound, and where seeing it unfold thru your channel. I mean alot of capital investment going on in new businesses , city government making upgrades , and now a PR activist telling the whole world about a wonderful community! God speed Brad & Ta, press on!!
Thanks Brad, great tour of your village. Phraeksa has the same issues with rubbish it’s a real problem. We also have our fair share of water monitors. Some are meters long. Look forward to the next video.
G'Day Steve A few years ago I spent time in upcountry Bali and the situation with rubbish is even worst there. It can be really shocking what other cultures consider to be a normal way of life. Thanks so much for watching Have a great day Brad & Ta
Very interesting video well done Brad. We also have a problem with people leaving rubbish everywhere, it's terrible to see. Wow those lizards are amazing creatures. I wouldn't have thought that they'd be scared of humans, I guess there's not a history of them attacking humans.
Hi Brad, the tree with the fruit on it that you said was toxic is called the Suicide tree and the fruit is called Pong Pong. Great videos by the way, keep them coming.
IDK why, but I never knew you two lived in BKK. I was always thinking some where north away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I will be visiting for the first time in November. I saw your vid on the Dream hotel and you have inspired me to stay there.
That rubbish is a bit disappointing . I too have seen places in Thailand like that . Maybe a community effort ( "Clean-up the Lake" day) . A lack of bins is common throughout Thailand .
Great film as always there Brad, Nung Noi give me that lemon and honey drink every morning she says it help to go to the restroom. 🤣She is here with me now for another week or so.🍺
Wouldn't be Thailand without fires n rubbish... ungortunately. As you say no bins n no education to help the situation. The same pretty much all over. Great tour around your village Brad. Keep up those morning health drinks... good for you. Bushyboy Oz.
My wifes village in Surin is very proactive in keeping the village clean and tidy. Every Sunday the villagers get together and do a big clean up, picking up the rubbish (would be easier if they didnt drop it on the ground in the first place 😂) and pull out weeds etc. Its only a small rural village and they are quite proud of it.
G'Day Andy Welcome to Our Life Thai That sounds pretty typical of upcountry villages, they take pride in the villages that their families have lived in for generations. Thanks for sharing your story Take care Brad & Ta
Hua Hin trash hereo's which seems to be largely led by farangs has a lot of young Thai's now which is imperative for the future of Thailand and heart warming to see.. Charging for plastic bags and straws will reach Thailand soon and that will help.
Hate seeing all that litter!! Have the same problem here in upstate NY. What I do on some of my days off is pick it up and put it in big plastic bags and leave the bags looks better than seeing it all over. And some people see me and now they do it sometime also. Love your video's. All the best!!
Hello. Great videos and very educational. Suggestion for episodes. Can you go to Tesco express and do a video on Thai prices for Western items. Can you also do a video on Thai ladies looking for Farang Husbands? Excellent job thanks again
Any particular items you are interested in? I’m at Tesco at On Nut literally every day and could get you a quick answer on that. You’re on your own trying to find a lady though, lol.
People are the same here Brad although we do have the council trucks that pick up stuff but still they litter. Are the lizards aggressive at all?. Thanks for sharing mate.
That lake is beautiful but so dirty, there is no way we would burn thrash or anything neat our properties here in Los Angeles get arrested, fined or even beaten by the neighbors. Brad, which airport is near your village ? I always hear planes when you film around your pad.
The plastic polution happens in many countries in south east Asia. I think it has something to do with their habit. I think back then people used to use banana leafs and other leafs for packaging and just throw away after using it and let the Nature do the rest. Although they are using plastic for quite some time now they dont seem to adapt with the situation completely and being more evironment friendly.
Good one Brad , are lizards dangerous if you know . Amazing amount of trash , I always say humans will end up destroying this planet if it's by physical or mental means , the animals don't create a mess like humans do , John from Harwinton Connecticut USA
G'Day John I wouldn't want to be bitten by any reptile, but I don't think that there's been any reported cases in the village. :-) The lizards do their best to stay well away from humans. Thanks so much for watching Take care Brad & Ta
Tell Ta talok mak mak Laughing my f@#*ing ass off. I was warned of this video, at length this AM, and was told to watch for it all day! You understand "Braed", I am going to have to pass this on! G'Day Eric Just buy a t-shirt for N, maybe then she won't need to ride around in her pyjamas at 10.30 in the morning. 555 Oh, but don't worry, she's not the only Thai girl in our village that does it. 55 Ta and I have a laugh every Sunday when we see women shopping at the market in their pyjamas. :-) Have a great day Brad & Ta
Pong Pong Tree (Cerbera odollam) , also known as the suicide tree.It bears a fruit known as Othalanga that yields a potent poison that has been used for suicide and murder.
Hi brad this is something i noticed as well was the large ammount of plastic that is used in thailand although where chon lives it is not so bad as the streets are swept every day . I dont know what it is about the thai phsyci but you are right it doesnt seem to bother them about rubbish on the ground,my first visit there we used to catch the bus from a stop next to a small drainage ditch and it was putrid the smell .Some of the pictures i have seen of some beaches and other places are pretty bad for plastic bags and bottles ,i like the sign about dogs no pooping here i quite often get into arguments with people when i walk my dog about not picking up there dog poo ill actually confront them if i se them let their dog take a dump and then walk off it really pisses me off my theory is it is your dog and you fed it ,it takes a dump so that dump belongs to you you paid for it 55555 ,the council provide plastic bags in holders for people to use free in the parks and beaches so people put it in the bag and leave it on the beach ,i think they believe that at 5.00 the turd fairy comes down and picks them all up ready for tommorow ,good video of what some problems are in a thai village i think it is about community attitude and making sure visitors are aware that littering is just not on take care .
Plastic pollution is getting a biggest current issue as plastic is never destroyed, it converted into micro plastic and then further to nano plastic and that enter the food chain, you can read the June issue of National Geographic magazine for this information.
Oh dear, those lizards are not anything I'm crazy about. I'm sure they are an important part of the eco system of the lake. And can you have one as a pet ?
