Hello! I'm beyond excited to find someone to show clearly how to use this foot. You offer so many useful tips as well. This is the first video of yours that I've watched. I think you are a natural teacher 👏👏👏
Oh My Glitter! You are adorable! I only watched this video because I was interested in this foot. I don't quilt, but I sew theatrical costumes, but I fell into a Tiny Orchard rabbit hole and you've inspired me to do explore quilting. Thank you for your videos!
Oh my glitter! I'm dying--that is the most hilarious phrase! I'm glad you liked the video and quilting is definitely quite a rabbit hole to fall down into. I made my first quilt thinking it would be the only one and well....that didnt work out!
I’m guessing that the quilter who donated the Curve Master Presser foot package to our guild’s “Trash-2-Treasure” block auction meeting never figured out how to use it. I paid $2.00 for it, watched the YT video, and set it aside. I’m very grateful that you produced and posted this video. The manufacturer’s video left out important information (like why there were so many shank adapters?), but you made it a point to clear that up. Also, the manufacturer’s video showed a tiny red metal hook-like piece (no larger than the tiniest appliqué pin) that snapped into the right side of the CM foot and emphasized its importance. I think the part added some sort of strength and stability to the foot’s curve ability and eliminating any “wiggle” to the shank component where it snaps into presser foot. There was no such part in my package, you did not mention it, nor did I see the red metal piece on your CM foot. Have you any info on this? Overall, you did an outstanding test on this product far more than the creator/manufacturer. Thank you very much!
Yup, I'm in the Tiny Orchard Quilts rabbithole...😍 It being several years later, my questions: are you still using the foot in preference to tried and true experience? How has it worn? Thank you for your exuberance and lightness--I'm coming back to sewing and quilting from a long hiatus and love having you play in the background!
I just got my curve master foot yesterday from Amazon, and it works, i was so impressed. I was a bit confused with all the other attachments/adapters, but watching ur video again, i know.
Bought this foot at a quilt show (think it was AQS Grand Rapids) years ago. Spent lots more than $17 . Never used it. Might have to try it now! Loved this review! Very honest reaction!
I’ve struggled with curves and given up. But if I ever get back to them, I will look for a Curve Master Foot. Thanks for this tutorial. I like your style, girl!
Curves are definitely one of those things people have strong opinions about!! :). I have a video coming soon on improv curves which are definitely a little more low stress than traditional curves.
I am happy to hear the curve master foot worked so well for you. It looks like you got a good deal at 17.00. Living in Canada, Amazon wants 71.00+ so I will continue to use my 1/4 foot. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work!!!
Oh wow! Thats so high! I am shocked at the differences in prices some people are noting on this foot. I thought it was a good deal for around $20 but I dont think I would have shelled out too much more for it!
Judy Robinette There is more than 1 company selling this foot on Amazon. Try using another search engine - Duck Duck go is what I used and it came up with this. www.amazon.com/Curve-Master-Presser-Foot-Invented/dp/B00I61B5MM, not sure if it is the shipping that kills your price or not.
I met the designer of this foot a,few years back at an international quilt show. Excellent product. You had to buy tweezers, fabric roller separately. She did an amazing job.
I just checked online to see the cost and it is $37! It is also right now February 19, 2021. And I noticed that you were post was about nine months ago. That’s an awfully big increase in cost! Plan to get it, eventually but I’m gonna have to research other vendors! Very good demo!
I have made several curved pieced quilts by Sew Kinda Wonderful and have loved them. Each block is squared after sewing. Have not needed a special foot. I love their patterns and the cutting rulers used for the patterns a great.
That was great. Thank you. Loved that you compared hand v foot methods. I’ve just ordered the curve foot and now I’m excited to receive it and get started on curves again.
I didn't get the tweezers either, but I have a very nice pair of curved tweezers that I use all of the time. I did try putting the concave piece on top. It causes puckers and gathers to form. Definitely stick to convex on top.
Tacky glue from price sticker .. I have found that it can be easily removed with a shot of machine oil or WD40 spray , followed a minute later by wiping with soft cotton wool or tissue
Hi Megan, when you sewed the third block in this test which foot did you use? Did it say you could use the curved foot as a 1/4” foot as well? Just curious how the 1/4” foot would do in this…..
I haven't done curves yet but watched alot on youtube but I enjoyed watching this demo as I wondered how better this foot was. Couldn't believe that it worked for you and wondering if you tried sewing curves the way it suggested with your regular foot. I may buy one if my practice is difficult but $17 is awfully expensive for a tiny plastic piece with missing tweezer, though.
I’m just now bingeing on your vids since I recently discovered you...and I am currently working on a pattern with curves by Jen Carlton Bailey called “Curfont” -I’m making an alphabet quilt for my new nephew. It is a great pattern and I have her whole set of curve templates to make lots of sizes. I took a class with her and she taught us her trick to use glue which really works well for sewing smaller curves. 😄 But I may have to pick up one of these feet for my larger curves quilt patterns such as Looper and Clava by Miss Make, of which I have made multiple so far as they are wonderful patterns!
How about off-set tweezers and a case that stores all the components (tweezers, and instructions included)? Beats just coming with the tweezers! Lol! My fav. curved pattern is the improved nine patch which I don't often see.
love your vid! dont usually like chatty presenters but you are so cute and funny and entertaining while being very good at presenting. i found this foot's ad on toyota sew mach & came over to yt for a review. love sewing gadgets esp feet! now im on to Amazon to ck avail & price. thanks for sharing. Im subbed! (p.s. I now quilt but only curved while making clothes. camt wait to try this. btw, would bias stitch work better for this task?)
Bias stitch? I’m not familiar with that-I’ll have to go check it out! Thanks for watching the video! This is definitely one of my chattier videos but it was so much fun to share my impressions as I went.
I have tried the binding foot! It’s a crazy huge contraption! It works pretty well but it’s finicky at the corners. I do have a really old video on it somewhere but maybe I should give it another go. I’ve learned a few more tricks since then.
Great video. I was impressed and just tried to buy this foot for an upcoming project with lots of curved piecing. Unfortunately, the price is now £54 /$71 and can’t be delivered to my country!
What happens if you sew your seam with the bigger piece of fabric on the bottom when you use the CurveMaster (opposite the way you showed in this video?
I hadn't tried that, so I just did and it doesn't work at all. I think the foot is shaped to create just a little drag on the top piece but when that drag is on the outer crust piece instead of the inner, it stretches it way too far. It ended up kind of like a ruffle!
Hello lovely lady, this video made me laugh, I have one of these feet & was as cynical as you at the outset, having paid almost double quite some time ago. I tried it & like you, was surprised it worked so well. I didn't end up using the adapter, it fit straight on. I ended up liking !!!! I did hold my fabric cross handed. Sadly I haven't used it since......I must find it again even though I've made a mountain of curved quilts since buying it......you've inspired me. BTW, surprisingly it is good for straight line sewing as well. Thanks for your video's, I enjoy your subtle humour & I love your quilts.😁🍹
Thank you!! I was SO skeptical. When I bought it I was sure it wouldn’t work but I was so amazed!! I’ll have to give it a try for straight piecing if you recommend it :)
Mine didn't include tweezers either! I still love, love, love the foot though! I just completed the "Chain Reaction" pattern by Gosia Pawlowska; check it out! I would not have finished that quilt if it wasn't for the CurveMaster foot.
Oh my! I totally forgot to paste that in! I’ll add it next time I’m at my computer! I have two curved piecing patterns of my own but I also love the looper quilt! It is so fun!!
You know, after I made this video, I thought the same thing. I tried the same technique with my 1/4” blade foot and it didn’t work. I don’t know what it is about this foot that adds a little more tension to the pieces but it did seem to make a real difference for me!
@@TinyOrchardQuilts Thanks! The friend who told me about this, said that the underside was curved, or something. I watched several vids trying to get a good view of it, but nobody ever did a close-up of the underside.

Sadly the creator is in very poor health. Her friend Judy (of Punch With Judy) advised in a recent email newsletter and invited anyone who liked their curve master to send a message. So I was pleased you did find it useful.

Excellent review! Seems honest, too.
Bought this foot ages ago and it is perfect. Love it. Fits my Bernina
That’s good to know! The packaging says something about some berninas needing an adapter, which must be frustrating!
