So glad to see Viking and Seaborne at the top. Both are understated elegant, with none of the silly glitz, butlers, and pretentious posturing. We love Viking…no children, no casino, everything included in the cruise price. Friends who have cruised Crystal, Regent, and Oceania tell us Viking food is the best.

Nothing can come close to Crystal..and we’ve tried Seaborne and Regent..Oceania too! Crystal Six Star all the way!
We are going on our first Oceania cruise in December 2023 for 10 days onboard there newest ship Vista in a PH1 suite and looking forward to a more luxury less crowded ship.
Seabourn is my choice!!!!!!!!! I am praying to be able to afford it one day soon.
I'm with those who don't consider Oceania or Viking in the luxury bracket. Regent is the obvious choice but is so far upmarket as to be inaccessible to many. Silversea and Crystal are tempting but I'll stick with Seabourn.
As a Viking loyalist I would only consider Seabourn as an alternative since I have heard from friends about this line. My only concern would be a wide variety of ships. All Viking ships are essentially the same so that makes for an easy decision.
Viking isn’t luxury… more equivalent to mass market premium. Still nice… but not in same class as these others
Viking ships are smaller, more luxurious and tasteful than the mass market premium ships.
I would be interested to see where Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons' upcoming yacht collections would fit in here.
Sorry that few have mentioned Silversea. A friend of ours recommended this cruise line about ten years ago. We are now Venetian Society members which offer cruising discounts and other amenities. Don't know how the other luxury lines do it, but the more you travel with one cruise line, the more discounts they give you. I'd love to dabble with the others, but the benefits of staying with one cruise line, make it too hard to pass up.

When I spoke to them by phone recently the agent pronounced Oceania as ocean-an-ia. Just sayin'.
None of these ships can compete with Explora
Oceania is not a luxury cruise line and does not compare to Crystal, Regent, Silverseas among others

True; but an outstanding value in comparison. Of my last 5 cruises, 3 have been with Viking and I plan another soon.

Great rview, thanks a lot. We have never traveled in Viking or Oceania. This august get our first Viking around England Isles, but next year we booked two cruises, we have to choose one, Viking from Reikiavic to New York (we already knew Reikiavic), or Oceania Allura (inaugural) from Lisbon to New York, both of them 14 nights and more less same dates. People, help us. Which one you choose and why please. We will appreciate your reviews, thanks in advance. Federico

Oceania before SEABOURN? Huhhhh…the only thing better is my Vista Suite on the Oceania Marina, 4 TVs and a Picasso…and ship was great, but not even all inclusive nor actually elegant…
My next cruise you don’t even mention because the ship hasn’t launched yet…but way nicer ships than all the ones reviewed, however the cruise experience have not done yet.
