      I’m just pissed because they used the mt82 for the boss 302. Like why put a built motor and upgraded suspension on the boss but put the shitty mt82. Now I’m on my 2nd mt82 in my boss

    “Decent for most people” honestly this is all that Ford really cares about. That why they used the MT82 in the first places. We complain because we’re enthusiast but the average mustang owner could care less. This is why Ford will keep using it as long as they can.

    • @ChasingDifferentAdventures
      @ChasingDifferentAdventures 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The driveshaft is set up on a natural stock angle from transmission to rear end differential. The worst thing anyone can do to their vehicles is drop ride height. You lower suspension driveshaft angle becomes more shallow. Thus, pushing the transmission and engine forward ( off set them from their mounts). The lower the drop the more violent shaking it will be during launch from stand still, of dig, "can you dig it". During launch the rear squats even lower, therefore, the shaking causes following issues:
      1st clutch goes ( it's the weakest )
      2nd U-Joints (connect to transmission and rear differential [ driveshaft])
      3rd rear differential or transmission gears break.
      Mounts on motor and transmission go out.
      In the 70's to 80's hot rodders used lift the rear end to prevent this occurrence.
      Those you who lowered the vehicles were slow moving ( because of violent shaking) Lowriders.
      2 different car cultures
      Millennials don't know better. Just like Millennials at Ford don't know what makes a Muscle Car. Muscle Cars are only 2 doors, and adding a 4 door variant ( Mustang Mach E) with the Mustang name and badge/emblem of the pony. It will remove all past,present, and future Mustang's from the Muscle Car segment.
      Dodge Charger lost that with the 4 door variant, and was asked. What about the Hellcats and my response is they're nice comfortable family oriented sleepers.
      Millennials don't respect the Mustang Automotive History, Heritage Value.

    This does worry me in a world of trying to to save the manuals that this will get Ford not offering manuals in the future.

    • @That_AMC_Guy
      @That_AMC_Guy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was just thinking the same thing. Oh, don't like the manual? Guess what? No more manual. Think how much money that would save Ford going forward by only having to design for one transmission. Either that, or Ford WILL offer a hard-core manual, but you're going to pay $7000 for the option, rather than it be a N/C option as it currently is. Which will probably result in Ford building next to nothing for manuals and then cancelling the option all together.
      People also need to understand that with the power the Ford engine makes, there are not too many manual transmissions today that can take that kind of input. It's not as easy as people like to think it is.

      @Rainy Since when has the auto industry not been petty? Hardly anything is made as a two door anymore because "nobody buys them either".
      I guess the Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, BMW crowds never got that Memo.
      The US auto industry would drop glass if they knew it could save a buck.

    • @jdjames997
      @jdjames997 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rainy Manuals are going away, autos with paddles are the evolution of gear shifting because the computer thinks & reacts way faster then a human can. If you watch how the Euro car world has changed, especially with high end sports cars, like Porsche, the PDK revolutionized the transmission for speed & responsiveness. Very few 911’s are made with manuals anymore, & in simple street races the 911 either keeps up with or beats many high horsepower muscle cars (except maybe a Hellcat or Demon which both have versions of ZF German automatics I believe), so yes, manuals are a dying breed, & I don’t see them growing, only shrinking as options in almost every car. I had a Alfa Romeo Giulia Quad for a couple years, Americans were so pist off that car only came with an Auto, but the car beat every sedan made, including the AMG C63, the transmission helped the car go 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. My Mustang GT has a Manual, I’m just happy they still offer one. I do wish they offered a Tremec option, without buying a GT350, I’d pay a premium for it. Mustang is one of the last cars Ford is still making, I really hope they keep making them, for my kids sake, and that of a younger generation who many of which would prefer a Tesla...

      @That_AMC_Guy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jdjames997 Last Data I saw said that around 8% of new cars sold in America in 2019 were manuals .
      So, by that line of reasoning, 92% of new cars sold in 2019 had automatics. That's what leads many to believe the manual transmission is on the way out.
      On a lot of vehicles, it isn't even offered anymore. Try and find a truck with a manual transmission!

Customers were tryimg to get warranty repair on a part designed and built for a 425hp engine after they've built their cars to make 700hp+.

    I hear your pain. I was, still mostly am, a HUGE Ford guy Mustang and Trucks. I bought a 2018 F-350 SRW with the 6.7 Powerstroke brand new off dealer lot, was just the rare spec I was looking for and was about to order. Shortly after getting it (3-4months) my A/C went out and I had an odd vibration in the driveline between 72-78mph (I often travel highway at 75mph). It turned into a 3 dealer, 2 state, 1.5 year fight to try and get the vibration issue corrected (also during this time the A/C went out again and ended up having to replace the whole system because the pump grenaded and the last dealer I ended up dealing with admitted it was a known issue on the 2018-19 Superduty's). I was constantly written off as making the issue up, but I forced every Ford tech and engineer to ride with me to feel what I was feeling. Long story short (yes this is a very short version), we finally came to agreement that neither party was happy with and they bought the vehicle back and I ended up getting a 2017 Ram 2500 Cummins with a G56 manual transmission. We're getting ready to replace the wife's car, and its sad to say we're not even looking at Ford because of the quality issues they are having on most of their product offerings right now, and because of how I was treated throughout the process of just trying to get my truck fixed.

    What are they gonna do to correct the problem? They’re going to completely axe the manual trans. I’ve gone through 3 MT-82 transmissions. My current one is a Ben Calimer Stage 2 MT-82 billet internal plate. Ben said no matter what to stay away from ceramic clutches for the MT-82 only use organic. I'm not trying to be a troublemaker or anything but this could be something for thought? I own both a 1991 Corvette ZR-1 and a 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium. My ZR-1 has a function where it will lock out out of either 2nd or 3rd gear when shifting to prevent damage to the transmission or excessive wheel spin and you're supposed to skip to the next gear higher. My ZR-1 and my Mustang both make similar horsepower and starting with the Coyote, These Mustangs were WAY more powerful than before. My fiancee has a 2012 3.7 Cyclone (Mayhem Edition) Mustang and her car also has the MT-82 and does not lock out at all. Is it possible that this lockout "problem" is really a protective measure for the transmission and traction of the car? I could be wrong, but my ZR-1 does the EXACT same thing and even shows the word "Lockout" on the display screen on the dashboard when this occurs, and when this happens, it is either raining or I'm giving the accelerator a good romping.

      It’s a bad idea to throw a short shifter without upgrading your clutch. What are you doing right now is forcing your shifts into the gear which will break it ! The reason why you can’t shift at high rpm is because the stock clutch wasn’t made for that and for you to start with putting a short shifter is the wrong approach. You should upgrade your clutch and upgrade your transmission parts if you have the money to spend and don’t care about your warranty.

    I’ve had a 13 and 14’ GT automatic. Both had transmission issues, gears would slip between 2 and 3 and 4 and 5. There was tons of contamination they reported back to me and both cars had to get the entire transmission replaced. On the 13, I started getting the sport shifter on the sequential shift not working. I even showed the tech and he saw I was pressing it and it would not change gears. Immediately when I brought it in and it had 36,004 miles. They found it. And said it’s no longer covered by my warranty. I battled with ford and lawyers for about a month and then they authorized the repair. This was in 2014. Right before I traded it.
    The 14, had the same problem and I got it fixed quicker.
    I currently have a 20’ GT350 and I’m already having transmission issues again. I throw it into gear on an incline and have the clutch depressed, and it will not move. Period. I know the manuals have hill assist and I felt that, lasts like 3 seconds tops. But I could be pulled in to my driveway, put it in reverse with the clutch all the way down and the e-brake off. Sits there even when revving at the biting point. I thought it may have been a seat belt safety feature but it did it to me with my seatbelt fastened too.

    I have a 2015 mustang gt bought at 42k miles, now at 48k. My mt82 is a little notchy at times and crunches into 3rd a bit sometimes at low rpm. Other than missing a couple gears, it has been really good to me and I don't see the reason to go to the lawsuit. I would call if I had a lot of these issues others are having.

    There was a situation with the first turbocharged Mustangs that a block of camshafts were tempered incorrectly and failed, resulting in extensive damage.

    Hey bro a little off topic I just had a quick question… Been watching your videos for a while. Right now I’m running 2019 stock looking to do my first few mods. Wondering if I should just go with ford performance or Eibach lowering springs because I already have the performance pack one set up in the car. Thinking about coil overs I just don’t know if I want to spend the extra money, and I know that my rear sway bars already beefed up and if I can just lower the car 1 inch with lowering springs and then align it I would prefer to do that. What do you think?

    Pretty sure they're going to throw the gt350 trans in next gen.
    Also my 2 cents, i have a 2012 gtcs, stock mt82 and its got bad bearing issues. Working on getting stage 1 from bc.
    It's either synchros or the shaft bearings.
    It won't shift into 5th at high rpm.
    I love the mt82 for stock... but i know a guy with 140k on a 14 and he has no issues with bearings etc.

    Trying to save money, Ford decided to bypass quality control, and screw its loyal, faithful, customers over by putting in cheap shift forks amongst other cheap materials related to the MT82. This how Ford rewarded customers who made the mustang the number one selling sports car in the world. Thanks

  • @Kara.Zor-El

    I know its an old video and it's going nowhere for us 11-14 guys.. but its sad that I have to granny shift because the brilliant ford engineers gave me a clutch that couldn't even handle my car in stock form. It's my first ford but it might be my last. Yes, I know its an older one but I'm seeing it with new ones at work as well.. I'm loving the car but I'm definitely noticing times where ford decided that profits > customers/quality.
    Hopefully a mantic fixes it.. I literally had to reach down with my hand and pull my clutch pedal off the floor the other day when taking it to 7300rpm. It just stayed stuck down even after the car returned to idle.

    You may want to reach out to Ford and see if you can get some kind of compensation and/or reimbursement for your not-at-fault defective transmission. Those that are still under warranty may want to insinuate that they are covered by the CA Lemon Law; I know most vehicle companies/manufacturers will not want to have recalls and/or lemon lawsuits on their records and will try to make good with its customers.
    It’s worth the try; y’all have nothing to lose, but, lots to gain. 🤷🏼‍♀️

      the transmission isn't that bad, there is mainly a problem with the production, there isn't a good quality control due to them being ment for much lower torque aplications, therefor the cast parts and the play in em varies, which makes them much cheaper

    I don't understand what all the issue is about. I've driven dozens of Mustangs with manuals including my own. I find nothing wrong with the transmission.
    Perhaps it's a USER issue? Perhaps it's a perception issue? Drive a vintage muscle car and tell me how you feel about the shifter and get back to me. The modern Mustangs are wonderful to shift.

  • @kx250fforlife

    I'm assuming the want 2015 up because sometimes car companies make lemons, but Ford knew the mt82 was a lemon and used it again for the newer mustangs, so thats probably the reason for going after those years.
