I've been watching your vids preparing myself over the last 8 or so years and I don't own any LT1 cars and it looks like I'll be getting my '96 SS very soon! Thanks for sharing!!
I am almost done this job as well. I watched this video 90 times, very good. But you have to remember ( I didn't) that this video does not show the air pump since it has been deleted. To get the water pump off you must also remove the air pump and it's backet that is in front of the water pump bracket. That being said this video is key to self education! bravo MichiganShooter( I don't know your name)
I never comment on videos but this was well worth the watch and the comment. Awesome video on this how-to and right to the point. Id go see this in theaters
I can't remember if I commented on an earlier video but I just want to say thank you for making these videos. Gave me confidence on doing my 94 Fleetwood
So I got my opti today along with the vent harness! Now I watched all 4 videos and have a good grasp of what I'm doing. I also picked up the gasket set needed. Now could you give me a list of things such as what type of sealant or brands. thanks
You're right. That tool to get into the Opti is hard to find. Went to two local part stores and they didn't have it. Noticed you just replaced the cap and not the whole distributor. Nice demonstration.
great video im doing my 96 z28 and its not too bad but the samll things you show really help like the seal and torque socket info thnaks great vid they should all be like this 100%
Michigan - Great Video - What kind of sealer did you use on the gaskets and the bolts? I have been using wheel bearing grease for years. Thanks for the help. R McG
Isnt there another 3rd seal where the Harmonic Balancer Pulley is?? I could be wrong but i didnt see that one get replaced only the water pump seal amd the opti spark seal.. If im not mistaken theres also a 3rd seal right in back of the balancer pulley... Was just wondering why that one didnt get replaced.. Im fixing to do this job on my 94 Z28 so any information or corrections would be greatly apprecaited.. Thanks!
I just this job once and now im on the second time doing it, the first time I got p0336. have you heard of this, did I not line up the pin with the Opt speak?
I just did mine but that water pump shaft ring is not facing the engine mine is facing the water pump. Hope it doesn't mess anything up. Damn your quick i took my time and it took me a week but I replaced optispark and all sensors, coil, module, and air pump.
my 95 cadillac Fleetwood has this engine but with a mechanical fan and small electric fan. Any tips to remove the fan would be appreciated, it's the only thing discouraging me from doing this myself. it's literally blocking the waterpump...
Quick question... Is it safe to convert the LT1 to an open cooling system? I noticed the pressure bottle and no rad fill neck, signs of a closed system. I will actually be swapping one of these engines into my XJ, and the rad system Im using is an open system.
well yesterday that brand new optispark that I just put on last weekend started shooting fire sparks into the back of my waterpump... I have no idea what happened... guess what I'll be doing all weekend...?
@michiganshooter LOVE THE VIDS! i installed a MSD opti spark to my 95ss, I am having a issue as far as my fans. They didnt come on at first. I replaced the temp sensor on the water pump. Unplugged the wire to the sensor FIRST, fans come on.. so I know they work. replaced sensor... got one fan to come on with out the AC being on... but car is running a little hotter then I remember and I have a check engine light now..? any suggestions.
Thanks for the video. Does one little O ring seal go on the water pump spline like you showed and then another one on the spline drive shaft coming out of the car?? Thanks for your reply.
Awsome videos, I feel like I can work on my LT1 confidently after watching all four.

Are u doing the timing cover to.i see u got the tcs?
u should do a vid on proper fill and bleed of the cooling system
when you said bleed the system did you mean the coolant?

GOOD SHIT...!
The step-by-step video to save my Impala because I don't know what i am doing I'm but I also know that I'm not going to pay a shop 1200.00 to do this
c4 owners watching this right before they have to do it dying inside because of all the room you have
doing the spark plug replacements on these motors are a BITCH!
Driver side isn't too bad, passenger side isn't fun
Not too bad if you remove the air pump piping.
There is no fun involved in this. Thanks for the videos, though!
