    You can wrap that exhaust hose with a blanket or some insulation to keep that hot exhaust hose temperature in check. It will lower the temperature by around 19°. If you don't cover the exhaust hose, that hot hose will radiate some heat back into the room so wrapping it up will help.

      I have this exact unit, I used it for a month and it work fine, but then I decided to put insulation on the exhaust hose and insulation on the window hose bracket. And it turned the room into an ice box. I sleep so comfortable.

      It's sad it the hose provided is so stiff, and slightly smaller than a standard EU 150mm exhaust hose.
      Standard stuff you can get that are double wall and insulated, against heat and noise. The provided one is very stable, but still cheap and inefficient.
      Pinguino really should do official 150mm, instead of this one-off crap. An extension from them is like 50€, for just short 2meter!
      For a standard, insulated, much more flexible air hose, 5Meter = 20€. I've used an adapter and duct tape to make it work.

    I have a question. I have been using the dehumidifier and the small plastic tube I have put in a bucket like the instructions say and every morning the bucket is more than halfway full with water. My father says the machine should not be exerting that much water in a single night. What have I done wrong?

    • @TomsTutorialsAndHowTos
      @TomsTutorialsAndHowTos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Esther! I don't think you have done anything wrong. The amount of water being pulled out of the air has to do with the humidity and power of the machine. We have a dedicated dehumidifier installed in our basement, and that thing extracts a lot of water out of the air in the summer time. That is why we have the hose routed to our sink basin. Cheers!

      I have an answer. That happened to me before I ensured close to perfect isolation from external hot air. The hot air was recirculating inside through the gaps in the windows. I bought the white kit for windows, and that prevented it from happening. I was collecting liters of water every day, so something wasn't working as it should. That was my solution, and I hope it helps you

      @AikelTechno หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You do it from time to time, especially in the beginning, every few hours to check, since if it's not perfectly insultaed (the hot air from the window) you are going to collect a lot of water. Once you got it right, you can do it with less frequence.

  • @andreasf1636

    One Question Tom. Why haven't you installed the ac in the top floor where you are sleeping? The ground floor should be comfortable tempered.
    We sleep in the top floor as well, with actually 28° and open windows, sometimes a fan. An ac unit would be nice, but to be honest, for max 2 weeks a year we get along with this temperatures.

    • @TomsTutorialsAndHowTos
      @TomsTutorialsAndHowTos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it would have to be very hot to melt the window screen. Most screens are made of thin metal. The air exhaust is warm, but not hot. Maybe have your manager take a look at the exhaust after it is installed, and see if it is really a concern. Good luck!

    • @AikelTechno

      You absolutely need the exaust hose, otherwise you are going to collect a lot of water, electric consume to the roof, and not using the machine for how they design it. On top of that, you won't get any cool, since hot air is going to be released inside the room.

    Hola Tom! Te hago una consulta, a mi madre le regalaron un equipo portátil delonghi pinguino PC cq 120, la manguera por donde se va todo el aire la sacaron por un hueco que hicieron en la pared (no tuvo opción de hacerlo por la ventana) pero ese no sería el problema, si no que tiene un agujero por donde sale/drena el agua, que cosa hicieron mal? ya limpié el filtro, pero si el aparato está encendido a las pocas horas empieza a salir agua, está drenando, tenemos que colocar una manguera para que drene? en este modelo de aire acondicionado el agua también se evapora? y si es así, porque no se estaría evaporando el nuestro? Espero tu respuesta, muchas gracias!

    • @TomsTutorialsAndHowTos
      @TomsTutorialsAndHowTos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I am sorry but I don't completely understand the question. You will just need an exhaust hose to go out the window. The model I have does not condensate through a hose, but rather evaporates automatically. Cheers!

    "Easy to install"? I beg to differ - you had to go to the hardware store and your install requires Rollladen *sigh* I've got an earlier model Penguino and lucky for us (no Rollladen) we have a cat door that the hose fits right in it. The worst thing about the Penguino are the hand-grips on either side. Since we take the unit up and down the stairs twice a year, we need to be able to hold onto it and the hand-grips are so shallow you cannot get your fingers in far enough. One of these days it's gonna slip and one of us is gonna get crushed to death by it on the stairway. Anyway, I'm glad you have it, it's is what makes life in German Summers survivable. (I have no idea where that remote control is....)

    • @TomsTutorialsAndHowTos
      @TomsTutorialsAndHowTos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, well easier than I thought to be honest. If we had a cat door, the exhaust hose would fit there as well. So the installation really has to do with the house or apartment you live in, more than the unit itself. It is kind of heavy though, so you have to be careful carrying it. 👍
